  • In this study, neighborhood facility and office building to target two cases were performed BIM process. In the initial design phase of the planning process was conducted for the BIM process modeling, BIM in the design stage while performing the required range and level of the process were studied. Accordingly, from architectural firms to leverage BIM process, the proposed methods, efficient use of the modeling process proposed. Quality management information and input for the modeling and design process should be determined from the initial design and construction, including, for each field should be considered BIM, which require an appropriate range of information, according to these requirements, BIM creation and expansion of the level of information should be clearly defined. Perform the procedure for BIM in the process of communicating with stakeholders is critical. In addition, the input data and output data needed to perform management and to perform at the level obtained BIM design process and the model should be clear.

  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the process of integrating and re-using information generated and used throughout the lifecycle of a building. BIM may not be very different from other management methods in that it aims to minimize the economic loss and maximize the profit by designing, building, and maintaining a building better, faster, yet cheaper. The major difference between BIM and other methods is that BIM approaches the goal from a system point of view whereas other methods generally approaches the goal from a business management point of view. Since a project cannot succeed without considering both systematic and managerial aspects of a project, the line has been blurred these days. This paper explores a historical background of BIM and discusses the key technologies for successful implementation of BIM.

  • Purpose: This paper presents a framework development for BIM (Building Information Modeling)-based OOPM (Object-Oriented Physical Modeling) for Building Thermal Simulation. The framework facilitates decision-making in the design process by integrating two object-oriented modeling approaches (BIM and OOPM) and efficiently providing object-based thermal simulation results into the BIM environment. Method: The framework consists of a system interface between BIM and OOPM-based building energy modeling (BEM) and the visualization of simulation results for building designers. The interface enables a BIM models to be translated into OOPM-based BEM automatically and the thermal simulation from the created BEM model immediately. The visualization module enables the simulation results to be presented in BIM for building designers to comprehend the relationships between design decisions and the building performances. For the framework implementation, we utilized the Modelica Buildings Library developed by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as a thermal simulation solver. We also conducted an experiment to validate the framework simulation results and demonstrate our framework. Result: This paper demonstrates a new methodology to integrate BIM and OOPM-based BEM for building thermal simulation, which enables an automatic translation BIM into OOPM-based BEM with high efficiency and accuracy.

  • In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, smart construction is actively researched, in the domestic construction field, and one of the key elements in this field is Building Information Modeling(BIM). In Korea, smart construction is being implemented through BIM-based digitization and intelligence. The geotechnical engineering field should also prepare for the introduction of BIM. In this study, the concept and application status of GeoBIM were identified, and the direction of future research was presented. This study is a part of the study "Establishment of GeoBIM-based Digital Twin Maintenance System" in the current "Technology Development for Establishment of Jeju Ground Collapse Response System for Safe Road Operation". The subject and scope of the study is continuous excavation at caves located under roads in Jeju Island, and initial research is being conducted on Jaeamcheon-gul and Jeonggusu-gul. This study aims to build a digital twin through individual data construction and integration processes such as cave shape modeling using laser scanners, 3D stratum modeling using borehole information and geophysical exploration data, and modeling of surrounding conditions using drones.

  • As BIM is now being accepted and broadly expanded in the building industry, the demand for developing, managing, submitting, and checking the BIM models has increased. To meet this demand, it is necessary to develop and spread BIM guidelines, standards, and manuals. Meanwhile, as the number of public construction projects increases, the importance of quantifying the BIM quality checking and evaluation also grows. This study aims to enhance our understanding of the definition and characteristics of BIM quality management, and review the current situation of BIM standards worldwide. In particular, by focusing on BIM quality control and its relevant subjects, the minimum standards for BIM quality management are suggested.

  • This study is suggest the test system for BIM(Building Information Modeling) qualification. And this study is the field-based BIM educational program with the acquisition of the qualifying certificates. Since field-based BIM and Curriculum(of University and Junior College) are highly linked to the actual practical affairs, the learning connected to the practical affairs out of the teaching focused on BIM modeling would satisfy students, and it would make the acquisition of the certificates which determinate the capability of the practical affairs. Thus teachers should guide students to get the certificates thoroughly, make them understand the importance of the acquisition of the certificates.

  • As recent buildings have been enlarged and free-formed, it is hard to represent three-dimensional buildings with two-dimensional drawings and identify design errors, construction errors, difference of construction quantity and construction cost, clash with columns, beams, pipe machinery, and so on. In order to overcome the limitations, BIM(Building Information Modeling) has been used in construction industry. However, BIM in the construction site is not fully facilitated after practical implementation in process control including training, evaluation and analysis of the process. Therefore, in this study, the effect of BIM applied in the construction site is analyzed empirically throughout the survey at the construction site in accordance with the training, evaluation, and implementation of BIM.

  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been adopted in variety domain of construction industry. In this circumstances, interest of BIM model quality has been increased. In many countries, automated building code checking system by Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) has been developed and studied to use web based building permission systems. IFC is international standard of BIM format. However, the data structure of IFC does not include all of objects and properties about national building codes. In this paper, we developed the information specification between IFC data structure and national building code to increase interoperability. First, we drew the criteria from literature review to analyze the building code. And then, we analyzed building code and sorted objects and properties for automated building code checking. After that we made mapping table between the sorted data and IFC specification. Using the mapping table, we developed pre-specification about building codes information that does not exist in IFC specification. And the defined information can be used to develop the BIM modeling guide and national building permission system. The pre-specification support increasing the interoperability between user and automated building code checking system. Increasing thee interoperability makes improvement accuracy and reliability about result of automated building code checking.
