Re-examining on Ascending the Throne of King Thibaw and Its Effects

  • This paper is attempted to clarify the controversial event King Thibaw ascending the throne. Moreover it was presented with the purpose of how important "Trust Building" is in politic. After ascending the throne, King Thibaw faced external threat as well as internal weakness. The Hluttaw ministers and counselors did not support effectively and King Thibaw lost trust his ministers and counselors. Therefore mass killing of royal prince took place after the ascending the throne and it made discredit to King Thibaw. Senior minister like Kinwun Mingyi and Hsinphyumashin secretly contact with Prince Nyaung Yan whom was staying under the protection of British. On the other hand Prince Myingun took refuge under protection of the French and was trying to seize the power with the supporters from lower Myanmar as well as taking the financial help from Hsinphyu Mashin. They were external strength for the British and French. In this way King Thibaw's administration became deteriorated and finally the British anxious about Franco-Myanmar treaty so they exaggerated the Bombay-Burma Teak company's problem. In this way King Thibaw was taken away by the British due to the internal weakness and external strength.

  • The number of high-rise buildings has increased year after year, with there currently being 5 projects in progress to construct buildings higher than 100 stories in Seoul alone. The construction cost for such high-rise buildings is significantly higher than the cost for a conventional low-rise building, while maintenance costs are expected to be two to three times higher. To reduce the maintenance cost of a high-rise building, there is the need for a guide rail to be used for maintenance, which is why there is the need for research on the guide rail system. For this reason, as preliminary research to develop a guide rail, this study aims to derive the factors increasing construction cost by taking the installation of a guide rail into account. This is expected to lay the groundwork for the design and construction of guide rails for high-rise building maintenance.

  • This study is to examine architectural designers' views on the correlations between components and contextual principle of the roadside building facade with the roadside building facade on the border of Asian Culture Center in Gwangju which is expected to undergo a great change by public policies. For setting direction of the roadside building management at the region examined, height of facade, advertisement/signboard, security of continuity through surface pattern management, nodes building, array of height by story, awning/arcade and locality of advertisement/signboard should be induced to design with locality and consideration of local characteristics with silhouette, window and external colors is needed for discrimination from other cities. Regarding the realization method important thing was found that the planning and implementation of architectural design guidelines, architectural aesthetics of the pre-hearing enhancement, active citizen participation, and then additional landscape screening system, incentive schemes, landscape designation of landscape zone was found to be a major realization system.

창호 시공용 폴리우레탄 및 실리콘 실란트 접착성 및 상응성 평가 (The evaluation for adhesion and compatibility properties of polyurethane and silicone sealant for window installation)

  • Using sealant for window installation is sealing the gap between the window frame and outer wall (such as concrete). A sealant serves to prevent external environmental impacts such as moisture, rain, sand, and dust entering inside of the building and make the building durable. In order to fulfill basic jointing function of sealing, at least 6 mm joint gap between two bonding surfaces are required. Also, adhesion performance between sealant and surfaces and the compatibility with other building materials are required to check before installation. In general, 2 part polyurethane sealant and 1 part silicone sealant are most common materials for sealing the joint of window. In this study, adhesion performances of those two generic sealants reflecting actual application conditions and the compatibility evaluations with other building materials are conducted to propose proper window installation procedures.

CONSTRUCTION FINANCING AND INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT

  • The market of building construction has been competitive in Hong Kong, perhaps as anywhere else in the world. The barrier to entry is low because there are relatively low requirements on the three factors of production - technology, manpower and finance. The prevailing building technology is traditional and labour-intensive. There is also not much need of capital because clients' periodic payments have been the main source of project finance. Further, capitalizing on trade sub-contracting, contractors have been able to keep their direct labour-force small and to transfer much of their business risk to the sub-contractors. Based on interviews to solicit the perception of a sample of building contractors on the particular issues of construction finance, we present the findings in this paper and discuss the various implications. We believe that the current practice of construction financing is both the cause and effect of the competition within, and the competitiveness of, the building construction sector in Hong Kong. We conclude that the building construction sector is "locked or stuck" in this "equilibrium" of traditional technology, reliance on clients' finance and exploitation of sub-contracting. In this "equilibrium" state, there is hardly any motivation for contractors to engage themselves in product or process innovation. Consequently, any talk of industry reform or innovation could only remain just that. We believe that this problem is not unique in Hong Kong. The building construction sector in many other developed and developing economies is posed with similar if not the same problems and constraints. We conclude that there has to be some "external forces" to bring this "equilibrium" state to a higher level "equilibrium" one where higher value-added building construction services are supplied and demanded. This is a state where building contractors possessing innovative technology, better financial and manpower resources could thrive to build better buildings with innovative building methods and processes.

  • 세계 각국에서는 환경오염이나 에너지절감을 위한 방안으로 건축물에 대한 가이드라인과 제도적 지원이 활성화되고 있다. 우리나라에서도 2013.09.01. 개정된 "건축물의 에너지절약 설계기준"에 따라 기준들이 마련되고 신축 건축물에 대한 제로에너지빌딩화가 권장사항에서 의무화과정으로 가고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 소형건물에 대한 정부의 구속력은 미비한 실정이다. 이에 최근에 시공한 오피스건물(외단열기법 적용)에 대해 에너지 절감효과를 분석하였고 추가적으로 에너지 절감을 위한 이중외피기법을 제안하였다.

파사드가 의류브랜드 점포이미지와 점포태도에 미치는 영향 (Fashion retail store facades and the creation of store image and store attitude)

  • Successful use of displays in stores arouses consumers' curiosity, and induces them to purchase a product after a visit. Facade is a word meaning an external front wall of a building, and is usually the first point of visual contact for the consumers. The present study is an empirical investigation of external appearance of a clothing store, with a $2{\times}2{\times}2$ factorial design of facade, show window, and wall surface material designed for the purpose of the study. Dependent variables were store image variables and attitude toward store. A total of 320 questionnaires from male and female consumers were used for the analysis. Facade type and material had significant main and interaction effects, while show window type had no meaningful effects overall. A facade of irregular design prompted significantly higher levels of perceived 'elegance', 'uniqueness', and 'attractiveness' of the store. Material itself did not have significant influence but did have significant interaction effect with facade design. The interaction effect was found in store attitude as well. In order to create a positive store attitude, a concrete material facade should have an irregular design. Companies owning fashion brands should carefully select facade type and wall surface material in the visual merchandising strategies of a store.

화재 지연형 바탕조정재의 기초물성 평가에 관한 연구 (Evaluation on the Properties of Fire Retardant Surface Preparation Mortars)

  • 외단열 마감 공법에서 사용되는 바탕조정재는 화재가 발생하는 경우 얇은 마감과 폴리머의 연소로 인해 표면부가 급속하게 붕괴되어 화재에 취약한 소재이다. 본 연구에서는 열적 성능이 우수한 팽창 흑연을 사용할 경우 바탕조정재의 성능을 개선할 수 있을 것으로 기대하였다. 실험결과, 팽창흑연을 사용한 바탕조정재는 부착강도 저하 및 물흡수계수 등의 감소가 발생하는 문제점이 있으나 플라이애시와 실리카흄을 사용하여 물리적 성능이 향상되는 것으로 나타났다. 팽창흑연을 사용한 바탕조정재는 복합 단열 시험체 표면의 페놀폼은 화염에 의한 표면 뚫림이 나타나지 않아 열원의 투과를 감소시킬 수 있을 것으로 나타났다.

외부개방데이터 연계를 통한 BIM/GIS 상호운용 플랫폼확장에 관한 연구 (A Study for Extension of BIM/GIS Interoperability Platform linked External Open Data)

  • ICT의 발달과 사물인터넷(IoT), 센서 네트워킹 기술 등이 차세대 산업경쟁력으로 자리잡아감에 따라 각 지자체의 스마트시티 도입이 가속화 되고 있다. 스마트시티를 운영하기 위해서는 도시통합운영센터가 요구되어 지고 그 기반에 통합 플랫폼이 존재한다. 기존 스마트시티 플랫폼은 주로 2차원 지도 기반으로 CCTV정보, ITS 교통카메라 정보 등을 이용하여 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 보다 고도화된 스마트시티 서비스 제공을 위해 3차원 지도 정보, 건물과 시설물 단위정보, 대민 서비스를 위한 공공데이터포탈과의 연계 등이 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 스마트시티 통합 플랫폼과 관련된 국내외 관련 개발 현황을 살펴보고, 현재 개발 중에 있는 BIM/GIS 상호운용 플랫폼과 외부데이터 연계방안을 제시하였다. BIM/GIS 플랫폼은 지도기반 위치정보와 건물정보를 연계하여 실내외의 끊임없는 공간정보서비스를 가능하게 한다. 본 플랫폼에 적용된 외부데이터는 V-World, 서울시 열린 데이터, 건축데이터개방이며, BIM/GIS 플랫폼과 연계하여 국토계획 구역정보, 서울시 대기오염정보, 건축물대장정보 등을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 고도화된 신개념 스마트시티 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 BIM/GIS 통합플랫폼의 개발 방향에 대해 제시하고자 한다.

건설현장의 사고원인에 따른 내·외부 리스크 핵심 요인 분석 (Analysis of Primary Internal and External Risk Factors According to the Accident Causes in Construction Site)

  • 최근 건설 기업들이 질적 성장을 필요로 하면서 리스크 분석 요구가 증가하고 있다. 하지만 건설 현장의 정량적인 데이터를 활용하여 손해 범위로 리스크 분류를 진행하는 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 건설 현장의 사고원인에 따른 내 외부 리스크 핵심 요인을 분석하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 A보험사에서 실제 12년간 발생된 사고 데이터를 329개 수집하였다. 우선 수집한 데이터를 토대로 내 외부 발생 위험도에 따른 사고 원인별 중요도 차이를 분석하기 위해 RPN 기법을 수행하였다. 또한, 이러한 차이가 유의미한지를 분석하기 위해 T-test분석을 활용하여 내 외부 발생 위험도 간의 피해율 차이를 검증하였다. 그 결과, 내 외부 발생 위험도 간의 차이는 유의미한 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 480억 미만의 건설 현장의 사고에서는 시공결함과 진동 소음 먼지가, 480억 이상의 대규모 건설 프로젝트의 현장에서는 호우, 태풍이 주요사고 원인으로 이에 대한 대처 방안이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 건설 공사 현장에서 리스크 관리를 수행할 때, 내 외부에 따른 체계적인 리스크 식별 데이터로 활용이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.
