Performance of Broadcasting Contents by Platforms (방송 플랫폼별 콘텐츠 유통 성과)

  • This study investigated the attributes of the popular programs by various broadcasting related platforms(on-air, VOD, SNS) and the relationship between the outcomes of these platforms in order to get the implications of broadcasting contents distribution strategy in multi-platform era. First, the study found that drama programs of territorial broadcasting showed the most high performance in on-air platform while comedy entertainment programs got the outstanding achievement in VOD platform. Second, although it had the low ratings in on-air platform, the program could be highly probable to get a great deal of VOD hits if it had attracted the younger audience. Knowledge programs showed the similar outcome between on-air and VOD platforms. Third, the study found that the factor which had a significant influence on VOD performance was the amount of buzz in SNS. These results suggest that broadcasting content distribution strategy in multi-platform era needs the understanding of the segmented target audiences of content and the analysis of trait of each platform.

  • With the developing of current multimedia broadcasting, user will be provided for lots of various content through the various channel and media. Content provider and consumer want the various service using content with the better quality which is fit to users' preference. For transmitting this content in the limited transmission channel capacity, it needs to transmit the highly compressed content. The content of 3D mesh model-based on MPEG-4 enables the various content service that provides the lower size and the resonable quality, and Personalize(Targeting) service just provide the contents that user more wants and likes. This paper presents the study on the targeting service using compression of 3D mesh model-based on MPEG-4 and the adaptation of Embedded Graphic application program using it.

  • With the recent spread of digital content, more people have been watching the digital content of TV programs on their PCs or mobile devices, rather than on TVs. With the change in such media use pattern, genres(types) of broadcast programs change in the flow of the times and viewers' trends. The programs that were broadcast on TVs have been released in digital content, and thereby people watching such content change their perception. For this reason, it is necessary to newly and differently classify genres(types) of broadcast programs on the basis of digital content, from the conventional classification of program genres(types) in broadcasting companies or relevant industries. Therefore, this study suggests a plan for newly classifying broadcast programs through using machine learning with the log data of people watching the programs in online media and for applying the new classification. This study is academically meaningful in the point that it analyzes and classifies program types on the basis of digital content. In addition, it is meaningful in the point that it makes use of the program classification algorithm developed in relevant industries, and especially suggests the strategy and plan for applying it.

  • It requires protection technologies to permit consumer to store a digital broadcasting content and at the same time to protect the intellectual property from illegal action. There is content encryption as one of protection technologies. In this paper, we proposed a protection scheme for digital broadcasting content that broadcasting server. Multiplexes the encryption key into MPEG-2 TS(transport stream) to be able to encrypt received TS at set top box. The proposed method is to modify PMT(program map table) for the information related encryption key and to multiplex key as TS packets. After then the encryption key is extracted from TS stream which is encrypted in set top box.

Big Data Analysis of the Women Who Score Goal Sports Entertainment Program: Focusing on Text Mining and Semantic Network Analysis.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic data on sports entertainment programs by collecting data on unstructured data generated by Naver and Google for SBS entertainment program 'Women Who Score Goal', which began regular broadcast in June 2021, and analyzing public perceptions through data mining, semantic matrix, and CONCOR analysis. Data collection was conducted using Textom, and 27,911 cases of data accumulated for 16 months from June 16, 2021 to October 15, 2022. For the collected data, 80 key keywords related to 'Kick a Goal' were derived through simple frequency and TF-IDF analysis through data mining. Semantic network analysis was conducted to analyze the relationship between the top 80 keywords analyzed through this process. The centrality was derived through the UCINET 6.0 program using NetDraw of UCINET 6.0, understanding the characteristics of the network, and visualizing the connection relationship between keywords to express it clearly. CONCOR analysis was conducted to derive a cluster of words with similar characteristics based on the semantic network. As a result of the analysis, it was analyzed as a 'program' cluster related to the broadcast content of 'Kick a Goal' and a 'Soccer' cluster, a sports event of 'Kick a Goal'. In addition to the scenes about the game of the cast, it was analyzed as an 'Everyday Life' cluster about training and daily life, and a cluster about 'Broadcast Manipulation' that disappointed viewers with manipulation of the game content.

  • In accordance with the digital broadcast data converted, the number of the service provider, and content channel for interaction with the viewer has increased exponentially. Electronic program guide in such a multi-channel time(Electronic Program Guide, EPG) is an essential requirement, and also from day to day EPG generation technique according to the user's requirements. But the current situation is getting EPG to viewers outside for reasons such as absence, lack of accurate information, organizing techniques utilized lack of standard systems. In this article, we describe the State and EPG solution to the problem of these terrestrial stations. This, the EPG information and the actual broadcast time of the terrestrial channel 6 using a ground wave receiving method for a direct comparison was studied the problems and the average error of the current start. Also this research perform to enhance accuracy of EPG information.

An MHP-based Searching Data Service using the Keywords based on the Content of a Broadcasting Program (방송프로그램 내용과 연동된 검색 키워드를 활용하는 MHP 기반의 검색 데이터 서비스)

  • As the representative of the convergence of broadcasting and communication, the data service was expected to be a new profit source of the related industries. The data service, however, has not satisfied the expectation due to the short of killer services that make it popular with the viewers. According to the several survey reports, a lot of viewers do internet-searching using the key-words related to the TV program they are watching and, with the faith in the survey results, several trials has been performed to port established PC-based searching systems onto TV-set only to fail to get popularity among viewers. The failures are mainly caused that they did not sufficiently consider the viewers' modality that viewers seriously want not to be obstructed by anything when they are absorbed in a program. This paper proposes an MHP-based searching data service designed to minimally interrupt the viewers watching a TV program and to be synchronized with a TV program by using the searching key-words relative to it, the content of which changes as time goes on.

A Method for Describing the Information of the Broadcasting Program's Time-Slots and Its Application to a Data Service (방송프로그램의 구간 별 부가정보 기술 방법과 이를 활용한 데이터서비스 개발 사례)

  • Although the data service of the digital broadcasting has been regarded as the representative service of the broadcasting and communication convergence, it, however, has failed to gain the popularity with the viewers due to the viewer's viewing modality of focusing only on the TV programs. Based on the experts' opinions that the data service should step up so that using a data service while watching a TV program creates a synergy effect, the paper proposes a method for allowing a data service to utilize the information of a TV program. The method has a tool for describing the information of a TV program's content, which changes as time goes on and provides a mechanism for transmitting the information in the way compatible to the digital broadcasting standard. As an application of the method, with a domestic data service developing company, we have developed a ticker data service that shows the information (e.g., actors, places, sponsors, etc.) of a drama.

Implementation of Audio Equalization in Video-on-Demand Broadcast Content

  • In this paper, we develop the system for audio volume equalization of video on demand(VoD) content and propose the solution for it. In recent years, there has been a steady increase in the number of VoD users in addition to linear channels. However, viewers ought to sit in an uncomfortable way, adjusting the volume intermittently while they are broadcasted. Sudden changes of volume occur between the broadcasting channels, the programs from the co-channel, or the linear channels and the VoDs. Especially, upsurged dissatisfaction from the televiewers has been found due to the unequalized volume when shifting between the linear channel and the VoD. In order to solve this problem, multilateral efforts were put forth, such as a system for keeping the volume at a certain level in digital broadcasting program has been legislated domestically. It leads success in equalizing linear channel volume. On contrary, too little notice has been taken for distorted volume problem of video on demand(VoD) content. In this paper, we developed and applied the volume equalization system into VoD content to achieve uniformization, a similar condition with linear channel(-24LKFS). This suggestion helped uneven current of volume which was in the stage -16 ~ -20LKFS to stable condition by lowering into the stage of -24LKFS. It also brought 20% increase in perspective of volume quality satisfaction level.

The adaption of Java application program and 3D program can provide the content service utilizing 3D mesh model, so content provider and consumer can share the more information about the content.
