Comparative study on the Differences of Broadcast Journalists' Perception on Work Autonomy by Ownership and Revenue Structure (방송사의 소유와 재원 구조 차이에 따른 기자의 자율성 인식 비교 : 자원의존이론을 중심으로)

  • This study empirically examined the influence of ownership structure(public/private) and revenue structure (high dependency on advertisement/low dependency on advertisement) of broadcasting companies upon journalists' perceptions regarding the degree of freedom in news reporting, the factors that limit freedom of press, satisfaction with the work autunomy and satisfaction with company's policies of news reporting and editing in light of resource dependency theory. The result showed that both the ownership structure and revenue structure of broadcasting companies influenced the journalists' perception regarding the degree of freedom in news gathering and reporting. It was also confirmed that only the revenue structure affected the level of satisfaction with work autonomy while the degree of satisfaction with the company's policies on editing and programing was influenced by the ownership structure. The perception of the factors that limit the freedom of press was found to be influenced only by the ownership structure, as did the satisfaction with policies on editing and programing. These results are very significant as they show that the level of dependence on advertising revenue affects journalists' news reporting, and that journalists of public broadcasting companies are influenced by the dependence on government or other political powers as well as on advertising revenue.

  • Recently, new multimedia techniques using lighting and projection are often used for the production of broadcasting programs. Also news programs use DLP(Digital Lighting Processing) videos with good resolution escaping from the existing set changes. This paper examined the correlations between lighting sources and the resolution of DLP videos, and had a simulation, and then it proposed DLP used ideal lighting for news programs. This paper comparatively examined the resolution of DLP videos influenced by the conditions of lighting, using the videos picked up on the HD camera and the measuring monitor.

The Influence of Humor on Anchor Credibility and Viewers' Attitude toward the Anchor: A Moderating Effect of News Type (유머가 앵커에 대한 신뢰성과 시청자 태도에 미치는 영향: 뉴스 유형에 따른 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the humor on anchor credibility, attitude and to examine the moderating impact of news type. We showed two versions of the news broadcast: one with humor, the other without it to 222 university students and analyzed how the presence of humor affects on the anchor credibility, attitude and examined the moderating role of news type. The results demonstrate that the use of humor has a negative influence on anchor credibility, but doesn't affect anchor attitude. Regarding the moderating effect of news type, the group who watched soft news was not influenced by the presence of humor, but the group who watched hard news revealed that their anchor attitude became dramatically better with the use of humor.

  • 현재, TPEG 포럼(Forum)에서는 RTM전술한 바와 같이 주차장 정보(PKI), 혼잡 및 여행시간 정보(CTI), 날씨정보(WEA), 환경오염경보(EIA) 등의 신규 서비스에 대한 표준화가 진행중에 있지만, TPEG에서 정의된 TTI(교통 및 여행(자) 정보) 응용서비스는 RTM과 PTI와 같은 교통정보에만 국한되어 서비스 제공되고 있다. 본 논문은 TPEG 기반 응용서비스의 다양성 한계를 극복하고 많은 고부가가치 서비스들 중에 뉴스정보(News)를 선정하고, 기존 TPEG(Transport Protocol Expert Group) 프로토콜과 호환성을 유지하며, 이동멀티미디어 방송 시스템을 통해 효과적으로 서비스할 수 있는 프레임 구조를 정의한다. 이를 위해, 기존 TPEG프레임의 구조를 분석하고, 신규 응용서비스(뉴스정보)를 위한 프레임을 구성하는 각 필드들과 각 필드에 쓰여질 관련 DB 테이블과 구성방법을 정의한다. 또한 이동멀티미디어 방송시스템(T-DMB)을 통한 콘텐츠 저작, 스트림 생성 및 전송, 그리고 TPEG 디코더가 내장된 수신단말에서의 구현 결과물을 보임으로써 신규 제안된 뉴스정보의 타당성을 검증한다.

The Use of Transmedia in Current Affairs Radio Shows Focusing on 'That Honey Show' of Kim Hyun-Jung's News Show(CBS) (라디오 시사프로그램의 트랜스미디어 활용 연구 - CBS <김현정의 뉴스쇼-댓꿀쇼>를 중심으로 -)

  • This study examines the characteristics of CBS's Kim Hyun-Jung's News Show(hearafter News Show) and the change to transmedia. The distinguishing characteristics of News Show compared to radio-based current affairs programs are as follows. First, despite its time limit, it adopts the form of investigative reports or investigative documentaries to uncover the truth of the events through 'Detective Son Su-Ho', etc. Second, News show's interviews have avoided biased stance in the reporting of minority issues by interviewing the affected parties anonymously including people involved in incidents and accidents, bereaved families, and other victims. News Show has been producing a transmedia content called 'That Honey Show' (a show that reads comments as fun as honey) since November 2018. 'That Honey Show' is broadcast in real time on YouTube right after the News Show radio broadcast ends. As a form of spin-off content, 'That Honey Show' breaks down the boundaries among staff, MCs, and guests, as well as shifting roles by using 'vice characters'. The female host, Kim conducts interviews with the main characters related to various issues and extends the fixed identity of current affairs shows to the everyday politics and cultural realms. Thus she draws active participation and responses audience. This paper analyzes two representative broadcast cases of 'That Honey Show'-first, the case of resistance and activity of the BTS fandom ARMY in the US presidential election, and, second, the case of reporting on the Nth room incident. This analysis considers the critical participation of digital citizens and the effect of fostering a sense of community in the current affairs show in the transmedia era.

Speech detection from broadcast contents using multi-scale time-dilated convolutional neural networks (다중 스케일 시간 확장 합성곱 신경망을 이용한 방송 콘텐츠에서의 음성 검출)

  • In this paper, we propose a deep learning architecture that can effectively detect speech segmentation in broadcast contents. We also propose a multi-scale time-dilated layer for learning the temporal changes of feature vectors. We implement several comparison models to verify the performance of proposed model and calculated the frame-by-frame F-score, precision, and recall. Both the proposed model and the comparison model are trained with the same training data, and we train the model using 32 hours of Korean broadcast data which is composed of various genres (drama, news, documentary, and so on). Our proposed model shows the best performance with F-score 91.7% in Korean broadcast data. The British and Spanish broadcast data also show the highest performance with F-score 87.9% and 92.6%. As a result, our proposed model can contribute to the improvement of performance of speech detection by learning the temporal changes of the feature vectors.

Identifying Seoul city issues based on topic modeling of news article (토픽 모델링 기반 뉴스기사 분석을 통한 서울시 이슈 도출)

  • 대중들에게 정보를 빠르고 정확하게 제공하는 대표 매체인 뉴스 기사는 일 평균 1만 5천 건 이상이 보도되고 있다. 특정 주제 또는 분야에 대한 전반적인 동향을 파악하고자 대량의 텍스트 데이터를 수집하여 텍스트 마이닝(Text mining)과 머신러닝 등을 적용하는 연구들이 활발하게 수행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 서울시의 이슈 및 문제를 파악하고자 약 5년간 뉴스 기사를 수집하여 키워드 분석 및 토픽 모델링을 적용하였다. 분석 결과 5년간의 뉴스 기사에서 빈번하게 출현하는 키워드들을 도출하였고 연도별로 도출된 키워드들을 비교분석하였다. 또한 토픽 모델링 적용 결과 뉴스 기사를 구성하는 20개의 주제를 도출하였으며 이를 기반으로 서울시의 주요 이슈들을 파악할 수 있다. 본 연구는 연도별, 분야별 세부 내용 및 시계열 분석, 다른 도시들의 이슈 및 문제를 도출하는데 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

  • 본 연구에서는 재난문자에 대한 뉴스양과 주요 이슈에 대해 알아보았다. 뉴스 빅데이터 서비스인 빅카인즈를 통해 분석을 실시한 결과, '재난문자' 관련 뉴스가 2016년에 186건으로 전년대비 약 18.6배 증가하는 급격한 성장세를 보였다. 이후 '재난문자' 관련 뉴스는 높은 수치를 유지하는 것으로 나타났다. 지진이 다른 재난에 비해 많은 비중을 차지하였지만 지진이 다수를 차지한 2016년 대비 2017년과 2018년은 지진 외에 다양한 재난에 대해 다루어졌다. 그리고 '재난문자' 연관어 중 행정안전부(국가안전처, 행안부 용어 포함)가 가장 비중 있게 다루어졌고, 기상청과 국민도 비중 있게 다루어진 용어로 나타났다.

Automatic Keyword Extraction in News Articles for Trend Tracking (키워드 가중치를 이용한 뉴스 기사에서의 이슈 키워드 자동 추출 시스템)

  • 본 논문에서는 포털 사이트에 게재된 뉴스 기사 집합에서 이슈가 된 키워드들을 자동으로 추출하는 시스템을 소개한다. 포털 사이트에서 사용하는 기존의 키워드 추출 시스템은 검색 횟수를 기반으로 하고 있으며, 뉴스 기사에서 단어 간의 상대적 중요성을 반영하지 못하고, 외부로부터 영향을 받아 순위 조작과 같은 문제점을 수반할 수 있다. 제안하는 시스템에선 TF-IDF 모델을 사용하여 단어 간의 상대적인 중요성에 기반하고, 추출된 키워드들의 시각적 변화를 반영하여 이슈 키워드를 추출한다. 제안한 시스템의 효용성 확인을 위해 58,996 개의 정치 뉴스 기사를 수집하였으며, TF-IDF 기반의 제안 방식과 TF 기반의 기존 방식을 비교하였다. 제안한 시스템이 기존 방식보다 시간에 따른 정치 뉴스의 이슈 변화를 분석하는 데 효과적인 것을 확인하였다.

Domestic Production Process of Early Korean Broadcast CG Equipment

  • The development process of domestic CG (Computer Graphics) needs to be studied by classifying the technical part and the design part. This paper analyzes how early domestic broadcast equipment evolved and focused on what went through the development process. Domestic broadcasting companies have introduced and used overseas equipment and have begun to develop their own technology. The development process of the early domestic production technology of broadcasting stations was classified into Character Generator, On-line Real-Time Graphic and Sport Coder. It was found that the orientation of broadcasting technology was conclusively focused on visualization, with socio-cultural factors acting along with the evolution of hardware and software. This research is meaningful in reorganizing the history of the development process of domestic CG technology in the early days through previous research (primary verification), newspaper articles and news coverage (secondary verification). This paper looks at what is missing by regaining the past of CG, and argues that with the advent of new technologies today, we must develop through appropriate division of roles and collaboration between engineers and designers.
