Low Speed Weigh-In Motion System Using Multi-FBG Sensors (다중 광섬유 브라그 격자 센서를 적용한 저속용 자동계중 시스템)

  • We have demonstrated a low speed weigh-in motion system using FBG sensors and performed field test at a trial road. Technique, called identical chirped grating interrogation, have used for a demodulation relying on the mismatching of two identical broadband chirped gratings. We compensated the fluctuation of LED power and the temperature of sensor and used a lock-in amplifier to reduce effect of noise. We could design a bending plate that the measurement results are independent of position of weight. The FBG sensors weigh-in motion system showed linearity and reproducibility.

  • Increasing popularity of WLAN and advancement of WPAN allow user to connect to the Internet easily today. The increasing of number of networking mobile device such as laptop and PDA requires computing devices to share high speed Internet line or work on networks in most cases. This has stimulated the demand of access point that supports multiple network interfaces. This paper describes the process of design, implementation and test of the wired/wireless integrated access point that supports multiple network interfaces such as wired LAN, wireless LAN, Bluetooth, and Broadband network. We designed and developed the hardware system and protocol software to integrate heterogeneous network. The system has shown compatibility with standard specification and good performance through testing with various network devices.

  • In this paper, we developed a system for measuring a passive intermodulation distortion signal of the mobile communication RF module having a wide band characteristic. The Broadband was designed to represent the characteristics of the receiver to meet the low noise characteristics and wideband characteristics in the RF receiver were to represent a wide dynamic range(high dynamic range)from the RF receiving end. PIMD designed passive intermodulation distortion signal measured by applying the FPGA / DSP in the system was measured to record the program on the PC. Variable up to 650MHz-2700MHz showed up to-138dBc measured PIMD3.

  • Currently NTSC, PAL, and SECOM are widely used for TV broadcasting systems. In Korea, NTSC has been used to reduce transmission bandwidth and broadband flickers using the Interlaced scanning method. Image data in the Interlaced scanning method require De-interlacing compensation for PC-based multimedia applications. The existing compensation algorithms such as ZOI, FOI, and ELA provieds simple computations and effective image compensation while the PSNR is low and horizontal and vertical edges are hardly detected. In this paper, the ADI(Adaptive De-Interlacing) algorithm that can increase PSNR and detect horizontal and vertical edges is proposed and a hardware system is implemented using three ACTEL 1020B FPGA chips. The system consists of the algorithm part implemented using two FPGAs and the memory control part implemented using rest one. Also the system operation is investigated for real time processing.

  • DMX512 protocol controls a lighting system for outdoor lightings and stage lightings. But lighting systems using DMX512 protocol based wired needs expensive cost in installation, maintain, repair. And it has restrictions about control channel numbers and its ranges. Also, it needs additional equipments for the control of lighting systems which installed on wide area. In this paper, we propose wireless control technique and a ZDMX module for lighting systems on wide area based on DMX512 protocol. Our technique solves problems of DMX512 protocol, and it can control lighting systems on wide area effectively. We developments the LED lighting system using ZDMX modules and we have confirmed the suitability of our technique for real environment.

  • In this study, the Fourier-Domain optical measurement system, which use a commercial high power white LED as a light source and a CCD linear-array as a detector is realized. The proposed system shows the axial measurement range over $125{\mu}m$ and the axial resolution below $1.24{\mu}m$. This system has the advantage of the cost effective and compact structure and also the better resolution than the existing technologies, which have a resolution above a few of ${\mu}m$ and use bulky and/or expensive broadband light sources.

  • In this paper, experimental methods to find acoustic characteristics of acoustically treated air-conditioning duct system are proposed. Existing methods to analyze acoustic properties of duct with absorbent material have a dilemma which has to assume the wave in duct to be a plane wave. Under this assumption, applicable frequency limitation makes accurate analysis of practical air-conditioning system impossible. In order to analyze the properties of in-lined treated absorbent with high degree of accuracy, in this experiments the range of exciting frequency of sound source is broadband, which means that source speaker excites higher mode of in-duct sound field. Also, to define the relations of air cavity to the acoustic characteristics, acoustic experiments on ducts with air cavity of different depth are operated. In conclusion, air-cavity makes the absorbing ability of duct improved in low frequency range. Due to the interactions between the air cavity depth and the depth of absorbents, according to depth of cavity, the magnitude of absorption coefficients vs frequencies in specific range is changed. In lower frequency range, the absorption of sound energy by air cavity is more dominant than by absorbent itself, in higher range, the inversion is true.

  • Broadband access technologies plays an important role in the national information infrastructure. In the evolution path of the information infrastructure, the relative economics of alternative access technology is the most critical determining factor. In this paper, we discuss the economics of local loop access technologies of existing technologies, such as, ADSL, HFC, and new PLC. To do this, we suggest appropriate configuration of access network system and its associated numerical equations. To modelize access network system and drive the numerical equations, we consider the DS (Double Star) and the T&B (Tree & Brench) architecture and analyse the adequate block diagram of each access system for each technology We introduce the density of subscriber as a key variable and the equation of allocating optimal number of cell in a service area. We analyze the relative economics of local loop architecture in two different situations, that is, urban and rural. From the empirical implementation, we found that for the case of urban area, where the cost of cable and infrastructure is not necessary, there is not much difference in the cost per one subscriber. However, for the case of rural region, we found that there is remarkable difference in the cost per one subscriber among technologies. Therefore we conclude that the economics of local loop architecture is depend on the density of subscriber and existing network infrastructures. we hope that this paper contribute to the optimal technology selection of consmer, technology Providers, and government.

MRC MMSE Equalization for SC-FDE in Amplify-and-Forward Relaying Networks (AF 방식 중계기 네트워크에서의 SC-FDE를 위한 MRC MMSE 등화 기법)

  • Relay-assisted multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technique has become a promising candidate for next generation broadband wireless communications. In this paper, we propose maximum ratio combining (MRC) minimum mean-square-error (MMSE) equalization for single carrier-frequency domain equalizer (SC-FDE) in amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying networks. The performance of SC-FDE system can be improved considerably by achieving both the diversity gain and the MMSE equalization gain when the signals from source-destination (S->D) and source-relay-destination (S->R->D) are combined and equalized by means of the MMSE criteria. We find the weighting coefficients of MRC combining and the tap coefficients of MMSE equalizer for SC-FDE in AF relaying networks. Simulation results show that the proposed relay-based system considerably outperforms the conventional SC-FDE system.
