차세대 통합망의 텔레콤 서비스 모델 및 진화 방향에 대한 고찰 (TA Study of Deployment Strategies and The Next Generation Convergence Networks Telecom Service Model)

  • 최근 논의되고 있는 차세대 텔레콤 사업을 선도할 기술의 특성은 통합화(Integrating)와 융합화(Convergence)를 대표할 수 있다. 최근 수년 사이에 급속도로 발전한 무선기술(Wireless Telecommunication Technology)과 광대역 전달기술(Broadband Transport Technology)의 발전이 기인한 것으로 이들 두 가지 주요한 기술적 발전이 또한 급속도로 발전한 단말 기술과 접목되면서 통합화 및 융합화라는 대 명제를 이끌고 있는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 차세대 통신망으로 진화를 하기 위한 텔레콤 서비스 모델 및 방향을 살펴보고 이에 필요한 텔레콤 사업 기술기반에 대하여 전망을 한다.

Effect of Uneven Distribution of Broadband Internet Services in Developing Countries during Economic Recession

  • Purpose: This study examines the economic and technical reasons for the uneven distribution of broadband internet services in Indonesia before and during the recession due to the C19 pandemic, and examines its effect on the country's economy. Research design, data and methodology: The research was designed by conducting an economic feasibility, which was verified through area observations and interviews with providers and their association, as well as the Regulator. Results: The results show that during the C19 pandemic, there has been an increase in the distribution of broadband internet services in Indonesia since there has been an increase in demand for cellular services and fixed services together. However, the increase in broadband internet service coverage is still not evenly distributed in the country and unable to boost the decline in Gross Domestic Product during the C19 pandemic. Conclusions: The increase in fixed broadband coverage by seventy percent is an indication for the state to make policies to encourage bundling techniques between operators with the aim of internet services being more evenly distributed throughout the country. Where, the influence of a more even distribution of broadband internet services in all countries is believed to be able to support the country's economy.

  • 이 연구는 한국에서 초고속인터넷이 빠르게 전파되는데 기여한 요인들을 분석하는데 그 목적이 있다. 여기서는 TPC 모델을 분석틀로 사용하여, 한국에서의 급격한 초고속인터넷의 확산을 유도한 원인들로써 첫째, 한국의 문화적 속성을 고려한 정부의 맞춤형 정책, 둘째, 기업의 경쟁적인 확산노력, 그리고 셋째, 한국의 사회문화적 요인, 그 자체를 결정 요인으로 이해한다. 또한 이 연구는 보편적 서비스로써의 초고속인터넷의 보급과 확산은 정보화 시대가 오면서 불가피하게 발생할 수밖에 없는 정보격차의 문제를 어느 정도 완화시킬 수 있다는 가능성을 보여주고 있다. 초고속인터넷의 확산은 정보격차의 가장 기본적인 문제, 즉 정보에 대한 불평등한 접근성을 완화시킴으로써 보편적 서비스의 제공과 수혜를 가능하게 한다. 끝으로 이 연구는 초고속인터넷의 성공적인 전개와 확대를 위한 몇 가지 정책적 제안을 담고 있다.

  • In the initial deployment stage of optical access networks, optical network systems and optical fiber cables have been provided mainly for commercial buildings or users in KT. According to the demand of residential users who expect to subscribe broadband multimedia services as high bit rate services, the optical access networks get closer to the residential users as FTTCab or FTTH So, it is very important to install optical access networks economically and effectively because that the total cost and usability of optical fiber cables depends on that. Especially, one of characteristics in access networks is the possibility of variation on services demands and technology evolution. Also access networks must be prepared for the final deployment, FTTH. Therefore, the designing and planning of optical access networks are coming to be very important activity for most of telecommunications service providers.

Novel MIMO Communication Scheme for Enhanced Indoor Performance in Distributed Antenna Systems

  • Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) has been considered one of the key enablers of broadband wireless communications. The indoor environment is known to be favorable to ensure both high rank property and high signal-to-interference/noise ratio (SINR) to fully exploit MIMO spatial multiplexing (SM) gain. In this paper, we describe several practical deployment cases where repeater links (or relay links), such as those present with an indoor distributed antenna system (DAS), can act as keyholes to degenerate the rank property of MIMO communications. In this case, we cannot exploit MIMO SM gain in indoor environment. We propose a novel MIMO communication scheme which uses simple converter in the devices in repeater links to resolve the rank degeneration issue and to ensure MIMO SM gain in highly MIMO-favorable indoor environment. MIMO SM is possible over the indoor DAS with single cable line through use of simple converters, which enables practical deployment in real fields.

  • In this paper, we consider a network optimization problem arising from the deployment of BcN access network. BcN convergence services requires that access networks satisfy QoS meausres. BcN services have two types of traffics : stream traffic and elastic traffic. Stream traffic uses blocking probability as a QoS measure, while elastic traffic uses delay factor as a QoS measure. Incorporating the QoS requirements, we formulate the problem as a nonlinear mixed-integer Programming model. The Proposed model seeks to find a minimum cost dimensioning solution, while satisfying the QoS requirement. We propose two local search heuristic algorithms for solving the problem, and develop a network design system that implements the developed heuristic algorithms. We demonstrate the computational efficacy of the proposed algorithm by solving a realistic network design problem.

Fixed Relays for Next Generation Wireless Systems - System Concept and Performance Evaluation

  • This work presents a concept and the related analysis of the traffic performance for a wireless broadband system based on fixed relay stations acting as wireless bridges. The analysis focuses on the important performance indicators end-to-end throughput and delay, taking into account the effects of an automated repeat request protocol. An extension to a MAC frame based access protocol like IEEE 802.11e, 802.15.3, 802.16a, and HIPERLAN2 is outlined and taken as basis for the calculations. The system is intended for both dense populated areas as an overlay to cellular radio systems and to provide wide-area broad-band coverage. The two possible deployment scenarios for both dense urban and wide-area environments are introduced. Analytical and validating simulation results are shown, proving the suitability of the proposed concept for both of the mentioned scenarios. It is established that the fixed relaying concept is well suited to substantially contribute to provide high capacity cellular broad-band radio coverage in next generation (NG) cellular wireless broadband systems.

  • ATM technology is reaching a certain level of maturity that allow for its deployment in local as well as in wide area networks. Concurrently, audiovisual applications are foreseen as one of the major users of such broadband networks. We present in this paper requriement of real-time multimedia service on B-ISDN networks and simulating the transport of MPEG-2 encoded multimedia data over ATM networks using CBR, VBR, ABR of ATM Traffic Service. We compare each delay time considering network performance and propose need for real-time multimedia service.

저궤도 위성통신망 기반 글로벌 무선통신 기술 동향 (Research Trends in Global Wireless Communication Technology Based on the LEO Satellite Communication Network)

  • In this paper, the contemporary deployment of broadband and Internet-of-Things (IoT) services based on the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite communication network is presented. First, the global service and key technologies of small and nanosatellites are briefly addressed, and then, the progress of relevant standard technologies is explained. Finally, the overall potential for the future development of the LEO satellite communication network is highlighted.

  • 무선 환경에서의 이동 중 고속의 멀티미디어 서비스 제공에 대한 수요가 증가하면서 (Wireless Broadband internet) 시스템과 같은 MBWA (Mobile Broadband Wireless Access) 기술에 대한 관심이 점차 증가하고 있다. 이러한 WiBro 시스템은 기존의 셀룰라(Cellular) 시스템 기반의 이동 통신망과는 달리 기본적으로 IP 기반의 백본 네트워크로 구성될 것이며 ALL-lP로의 망 진화의 흐름에 따라서 궁극적으로는 IPv6 (IP version six) 기반의 백본 네트워크로 도입될 것이다. 이와 같은 무선 이동 환경에서는 WiBro 시스템의 물리 계층이나 매체 접근 제어 계층에서의 이동성 지원 방안뿐만 아니라 네트워크 계층에서의 이동성 지원 프로토콜 지원이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 IPv6 기반의 WiBro 시스템에서 단말의 서브넷 (Subnet) 간 핸드오버 성능을 향상시키기 위한 고속 핸드오버 방안을 제안하고 모의실험을 통해서 제안한 메카니즘 (Mechanism)이 서브넷 간 핸드오버 시 발생할 수 있는 데이터 유실 문제와 핸드오버 지연 발생 문제 등을 개선할 수 있다는 것을 보인다.
