A novel energy harvesting technique that uses conducted electromagnetic interference as an energy source is presented. Conducted EMI generated from fluorescent light using a switched-mode power supply was measured and modeled as an equivalent voltage source. Two types of rectifier circuits-a bridge rectifier and a voltage doubler-were used as the harvesting devices for conducted EMI source. The matching networks were designed based on the equivalent model, and the harvested power was improved. The implemented energy harvester produces a regulated power over 68.9 mW and current over 15.1 mA while a regulated voltage can be selected between 3.3 V and 5 V. The proposed system shows the highest harvesting power indoor environment and can provide enough power for the Internet of Things devices.

Recently, miniaturization and low power consumption of electronic products and improved efficiency and power factor improvement have become a matter of great interest. In this paper, an AC-DC converter based on PWM control was designed and made. The AC-DC converter is designed with a structure in which one rectifier circuit and one output voltage control circuit are connected in series. The rectifier circuit is a diode-based single phase full-wave current circuit and the output voltage control circuit is a DC-DC conversion circuit based on PWM control. Arduino was used as the main control device for PWM control, and LCD was configured at the output stage so that the control result could be checked. The error between the output voltage displayed on the oscilloscope and LCD and the target output voltage was confirmed through repeated experiments with the test circuit, and the validity of the proposed design methodology was confirmed by showing an error rate of about 5% based on the oscilloscope measurement value.
In this paper, a buck DC-DC bridge converter is used as a power factor correction (PFC) converter for feeding a voltage source inverter (VSI) based permanent magnet brushless DC motor (PMBLDCM) drive. The front end of the PFC converter is a diode bridge rectifier (DBR) fed from single phase AC mains. The PMBLDCM is used to drive the compressor of an air conditioner through a three-phase voltage source inverter (VSI) fed from a variable voltage DC link. The speed of the air conditioner is controlled to conserve energy using a new concept of voltage control at a DC link proportional to the desired speed of the PMBLDC motor. Therefore, VSI operates only as an electronic commutator of the PMBLDCM. The current of the PMBLDCM is controlled by setting the reference voltage at the DC link as a ramp. The proposed PMBLDCM drive with voltage control-based PFC converter was designed and modeled. The performance is simulated in Matlab-Simulink environment for an air conditioner compressor load driven through a 3.75 kW, 1500 rpm PMBLDC motor. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed speed control scheme, the evaluation results demonstrate improved efficiency of the complete drive with the PFC feature in a wide range of speed and input AC voltage.

This paper presents stand-alone electric power generator using bridge vibration for charging system of health monitoring sensor unit of bridge structure. In this paper, a novel electric power generator utilizing vertical vibration is proposed, which has minimum effect of armature reaction, and the related mechanical and electrical design equations are obtained and then a pilot electric power generator has been implemented. Moreover, the free oscillation test reveals that diode characteristics of rectifier is dominant factor in charging process. Also, simulation results with the Namhae bridge data showed the validity and effectiveness for stand-alone electric power generation.

An single stage AC/DC converter based on half bridge topology suitable for low power level applications is proposed. The proposed converter has high power factor, low harmonic distortion, and tight output regulations. Asymmetrical control and synchronous rectification are adopted to reduce the switching loss and rectification loss, respectively. The modelling employing average modelling method and detailed analysis are performed to derive the design equations. According to these design equations, a prototype converter has been designed and experimented. This prototype meets the IEC 555-2 regulations with near unity power factor and high efficiency.

This paper presents an electric power generating system for stand-alone health monitoring sensor unit of bridge structure based on ambient vibration of bridge. In this paper, a novel electric power generator which has minimum effect of armature reaction is proposed. The related mechanical and electrical design equations are obtained, and a pilot generator has been implemented. In addition, the charging system for extremely low generator current is discussed, and some improvements are identified for the system. This investigation reveals that diode characteristics of rectifier is dominant factor in the charging process. Finally, both the simulation, which uses real measurement data of the Namhae bridge as input of the pilot generator, and indoor test are carried out. The results showed the applicability and effectiveness of the stand-alone vibration powered generator.

A three-leg inverter-type isolated DC-DC Converter that can use 220 and 440 V grid input voltages is introduced. The secondary circuit structure of the proposed topology is center-tap, which is the same as the conventional phase-shifted full-bridge converter. However, the primary circuit structure is composed of a three-leg inverter structure and a transformer, in which two primary windings are connected in series. The proposed circuit structure has a wider input voltage range than the conventional phase-shifted full-bridge converter, and the circulating-current on the primary-side is reduced. In addition, the voltage stress at the secondary rectifier is greatly improved, and high efficiency can be achieved at a high input voltage by removing the snubber circuit added to the conventional converter. Prototype converters with input DC of 311 V, output of 622 V, and 50 V and 6 kW class specifications were designed and manufactured to verify the validity of the proposed topology; the experimental results are presented.
One of the drawbacks of using diode-bridge rectifiers in the unity interface, is the line-current harmonic distortion caused by the nonlinear nature of the rectifier operation. So, a PWM converter for the power factor correction is analysed for unity power factor as well as low cost design, which enable to meet the limits of international standards.
The rectifier circuit has been used in the various fields of inverter progress. This is simple and low price. Otherwise it has many problems in harmonic low power factor and etc. This paper use the twin converter of two jewel booster. It doesn't need the detection of voltage current and control PWM. The twin converter has stably the rectification source. Also the circuit is used a half-bridge inverter in the electronic ballast for lighting. Therefore this method is confirmed in high efficiency.
