Composite bridges offer many advantages compared to current steel and aluminum bridges. This paper presents the results of a comprehensive on-going research program to develop innovative Diagnostic Prognostic System (DPS) and a structural evaluation of Composite Army Bridge (CAB) system. The DPS is founded on three technologies: optical fiber sensing, remote data transmission, and virtual testing. In developing this system, both laboratory and virtual test were used in different damage scenarios. Health monitoring with DPS entailed comparing live strain data to archived strained data in various bridge locations. For field repairs, a family of composite chords was subjected to simple ramp loads in search of ultimate strength. As such, composite bridge specimens showcased their strengths, heralded the viability of virtual testing, highlighted the efficacy of field repair, and confirmed the merits of health monitoring.
The bridge deck section composed of a concrete slab resting on two I-beam girders are known to be susceptible to flutter instability and vortex shedding. Moreover, the cable stayed bridge in construction is more vulnerable to wind rather than in service when the free cantilever construction method is applied. This paper describes the effect of the dynamic wind loads on the bridge during construction and the effect of alternative temporary stabilizing measures. Therefore, a series of wind tunnel tests and numerical analysis were carried out to determine if any countermeasures were required.

Using the responses of deck plate, a new bridge weigh-in-motion system has been introduced. The approach includes not only a systematic algorithm for the extraction of moment influence sequence but also a sensitivity-based system identification technique. The algorithm indentifies the influence sequence, the axle loads, and axle location of moving vehicles on a bridge, simultaneously. The accuracy and practicability of the algorithm have been examined experimentally for a folded deck plate on Yongjong Grand suspension bridge. It turns out that the two-dimensional effects of the behavior of deck plate should be considered for further accuracy improvement.

Increasing the volume of traffic on the roads causes social and economical problems such as increasing air-pollution and distribution cost. Prefabricated light weight bridge becomes a possible solution for these problems in the urban area where it is difficult to construct new one or expend the existing road. There are some merits in this kind of bridge. First, the design live and dead loads are minimized by allowing only passenger cars. Second employing prefabrication construction scheme reduces the construction time. Third, there is no need to buy land if the elevation road is placed on the top of existing one. In seismic design of bridges, base isolation has been an effective solution when the bridge has stiff piers and a heavy superstructure. The prefabricated light weight bridge has different dynamic characteristics from the ordinary bridges. In this paper, the applicability of base isolators such as lead rubber bearing and elastomeric bearing, to prefabricated light weight bridge is examined.
The paper presents the results and conclusions of dynamic load tests that were conducted on a road bridge over the Mokrzyca river in Wroclaw (Poland) made of galvanized corrugated steel plates (CSP). The critical speed magnitudes, velocity vibration, vibration frequency were determined in the paper. The dynamic analysis is extremely important, because such studies of soil-steel bridges in the range of dynamic loads are relatively seldom conducted. Conclusions drawn from the tests can be most helpful in the assessment of behaviour of this type of corrugated plate bridge with soil. In consideration of application of this type of structure in the case of small-to-medium span bridges, the conclusions from the research will not be yet generalized to all types of such solutions. The detailed reference to all type of such bridge structures would be requiring additional analysis (field tests and calculations) on the other types of soil-steel bridges.
High speed railway structure, contact of vehicle needs to design considering the running stability(dynamic behavior). Also, upper structure has to satisfy design standard about moving load, high speed train(KTX). So, the high speed railway structure has to satisfy the requirement of natural frequency, vertical acceleration on deck, face distortion and vertical displacement considering ride comfort, which is suggested Ho-nam high speed railway design standard. In this study, it was investigated and evaluated to the dynamic behavior for tow plate Girder railway bridge subjected to moving load considering real high speed train loads.
Steel box girders have two webs and two flanges on top that are usually connected with shear connectors to the concrete deck and are also known as tub girders. The end diaphragms of such bridges comprise of a stiffened steel plate welded to the inside of the girder at each end. The diaphragms play a major role in transferring vertical and lateral loads to the bearings and substructure. A review of literature shows that the cyclic behavior of diaphragms under earthquake loading has not been studied previously. This paper uses a nonlinear finite element model to study the behavior of the end diaphragms under gravity and seismic loads. Different bearing device and stiffener configurations have been considered. Affected areas of the diaphragm are distinguished.
In this paper, the stress resultants and displacements of simply supported curved girder based on the flexural torsional theory considering torsional warping effects are analyzed. And elastic equations of continuous curved girder are obtained by using energy method. Also, bending moment warping torsional moment diagram, pure torsional moment diagram, shearing force diagram, and deflection diagram of continuos curved girder bridge subjecting to vertical loads and uniform loads are presented.

Cable supported structures offer an elegant and economical solution for bridging over long spans with resultant low material content and ease of construction. In this paper, a model of shallow cable supported footbridge with reverse profiled pre-tensioned cables is treated and its load deformation characteristics under different quasi-static loads are investigated. Effects of important parameters such as cable sag and pre-tension are also studied. Numerical results performed on a 3D model show that structural stiffness of this bridge (model) depends not only on the cable sag and cross sectional areas of the cables, but also on the pre-tension in the reverse profiled cables. The tension in the top supporting cables can be adjusted to a high level by the pre-tension in the reverse profiled bottom cables, with the total horizontal force in the bridge structure remaining reasonably constant. It is also evident that pre-tensioned horizontally profiled cables can greatly increase the lateral horizontal stiffness and suppress the lateral horizontal deflection induced by eccentric vertical loads.
