수도권 국도교량 세굴위험도 평가 및 등급화 사례 연구 (A Case Study of Bridge Scour Vulnerability Evaluation and Prioritization for National Highway Bridges in the National Capital Region)

  • 홍수 시 세굴로 인한 교량 기초의 파괴는 국내외적으로 교량 붕괴의 첫 번째 원인이다. 본 연구에서는 수도권 지역의 실제 국도교량에 대하여 세굴 위험도 평가 및 등급화를 수행하였다. 30개소 교량을 선정하여 지반 시추조사를 포함한 현장조사, 설계 홍수량에 대한 교량세굴 해석, 그에 따른 교량기초의 지지력 평가 및 위험도 분석을 하였고, 이를 바탕으로 교량세굴 위험도를 등급화 하였다. 위험도 평가 결과 직접확대기초 교량 26개소 중 9개소 교량이 장래 세굴 위험 가능성이 있는 것으로 나타났고, 나머지 17개소 교량은 안정한 수준으로 나타났다 말뚝기초 교량 4개소 중 3개소의 교량이 유의할 만한 수준으로 지지력이 감소하는 것으로 평가되었다.

Energy-balance assessment of shape memory alloy-based seismic isolation devices

  • This study compares the performance of two smart isolation systems that utilize superelastic shape memory alloys (SMAs) for seismic protection of bridges using energy balance concepts. The first isolation system is a SMA/rubber-based isolation system (SRB-IS) and consists of a laminated rubber bearing that decouples the superstructure from the bridge piers and a SMA device that provides additional energy dissipation and re-centering capacity. The second isolation system, named as superelastic-friction base isolator (S-FBI), combines the superelastic SMAs with a flat steel-Teflon bearing rather than a laminated rubber bearing. Seismic energy equations of a bridge structure with SMA-based isolation systems are established by absolute and relative energy balance formulations. Nonlinear time history analyses are performed in order to assess the effectiveness of the isolation systems and to compare their performance. The program RSPMatch 2005 is employed to generate spectrum compatible ground motions that are used in time history analyses of the isolated bridge. Results indicate that SRB-IS produces higher seismic input energy, recoverable energy and base shears as compared to the S-FBI system. Also, it is shown that combining superelastic SMAs with a sliding bearing rather than rubber bearing significantly reduce the amount of the required SMA material.

Behavior of Bridge Bearings for Railway Bridges under Running Vehicle

  • Open steel plate girder (OPSG) bridges are the most prevalent railroad bridge type in Korea, constituting about 40% of all railroad bridges. Solid steel bearings, known as line type bearings, are placed in most OSPG railway bridges. However, the line type rigid bearings generate several problems with the bridge's dynamic behavior and maintenance in service. To compare and investigate the dynamic behaviors of line type, spherical and disk bearings, the vertical displacements of each bearing, including fixed and expansion type, under running vehicles are measured and analyzed. The displacements of disk and spherical bearings are measured after replacing the line type bearings with spherical and disk bearings. This study also analyzed dynamic behaviors of bridges. Furthermore, the deformation of the PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) plate that is placed inside of expansion type spherical and disk bearings is measured and its effect on the dynamic behavior of the bridges is discussed. The up-lift phenomenon at the bearings installed for the steel bridges is estimated. The vertical displacements at mid-span of the bridges are compared according to the bearing types. Finally, the 1st mode natural frequencies are estimated, and the relationship to the vertical displacement is discussed.

베트남 연약지반에서의 현장타설말뚝 설계 사례 (A Case Study on the Design of Drilled Shaft on Soft Ground in Vietnam)

  • In this study, two design examples of drilled shafts on soft ground in Ho-Chi-Minh City, Vietnam are introduced. One is for a 27-story apartment and the other is for a Arch bridge over Saigon river. Unlikely the normal cases in Korea, all of the bored pile foundations are supposed to be placed on soil layers. Therefore, skin friction between pile and ground is the most crucial design parameter. Three methods using SPT N value of sandy soil -Korean Road Bridge Code(1996), Reese and Wright (1977), and O'Neill and Reese (1988)- were adopted to obtain an ultimate axial bearing capacity. In order to verify the calculated bearing capacity, 3 sets of static load test and a Osterberg Cell test were performed at an apartment site and a bridge site respectively. LRFD (Load Resistance Factored Design) method was compared with ASD (Allowable Stress Design) method. On application of ASD method, safety factor for skin friction was adopted as 2 or 3 while safety factor for end bearing was 3. The design bearing capacities from ASD method matched well with those from LRFD method when safety factor for skin friction was adopted as 2.

다경간 단순형 교량구조물의 지진거동에 미치는 받침손상의 영향 (Effects of Bearing Damage upon Seismic Behaviors of Multi-Span Simply Supported Bridges)

  • 본 연구에서는 지진하중을 받는 교량구조물의 동적거동을 보다 실제적으로 예측하기 위하여 받침의 손상여부는 물론 다양한 영향요소를 고려할 수 있는 이상화된 다자유도 교량해석모형을 개발하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 받침의 손상이 교량구조물의 지진응답에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 받침의 손상은 마찰요소를 이용한 단순화된 모형으로 고려하였으며, 발생가능한 받침의 손상조건에 따른 영향을 분석하기 위하여 다양한 마찰계수의 적용에 따른 교량구조물의 응답분포특성을 구하였다. 모의분석 결과로부터 받침손상의 고려여부 및 적용된 마찰계수에 따라 최대응답의 크기 및 발생위치가 서로 다르게 평가되었으며, 특히 교량구조물에서 낙교의 발생가능성이 큰 위치에서의 최대상대거리는 받침의 손상여부에 따라 상당한 영을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 최대응답의 증가량은 크지 않은 것으로 분석되었다. 그러므로 다경간 단순형 교량구조물에 있어서 받침의 손상에 따른 낙교의 발생가능성을 감소시키기 위한 부가적인 받침보강은 필요시 선택적으로 적용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

무도상 철도교 레일 장대화를 위한 궤도-교량 상호작용 해석 및 개량방안 분석 (Analysis of Track-Bridge Interaction and Retrofit Design for Installation of CWR on Non-ballasted Railway Bridge)

  • 본 연구에서는 비교적 경간이 긴 트러스교를 포함한 무도상 교량을 대상으로 장대레일을 부설할 때 궤도-교량 상호작용으로 인한 레일 부가 축응력과 교량 지점 반력 등의 변화를 검토하여 레일 장대화를 위한 개량 방안을 분석하였다. 연구결과에 따르면 무도상 교량에서 장대레일을 부설할 경우 레일 부가 축응력과 지점 반력이 큰 폭으로 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 레일 부가 축응력은 횡저항력을 충분히 확보할 경우 수용 가능하지만, 지점 반력이 증가하게 될 경우 받침이나 교각의 손상이 우려되고 대규모 보수 보강을 필요로 하므로 지점 반력을 완화시킬 수 있는 방안을 강구할 필요가 있다. 교량 가동단의 마찰저항을 고려하는 경우 레일 부가 축응력은 감소하지만 지점 반력에 미치는 영향은 매우 작은 것으로 나타났다. 반면 궤도 종저항력이 작아지면 레일 부가 축응력과 지점 반력이 모두 큰 폭으로 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며, 레일 부가 축응력이 큰 일부 구간에 ZLR 체결장치를 적용하는 경우 레일 부가 축응력 뿐 아니라 교량 지점 반력이 크게 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 무도상 교량의 레일 장대화를 위하여 일부 ZLR 체결장치를 적용하고 궤도 종저항력을 줄이는 방안이 매우 효과적이라고 판단된다.

비선형 응답스펙트럼을 이용한 지진격리교량의 마찰받침 설계 (Design of Frictional Bearing in Isolated Bridge Using Nonlinear Response Spectrum)

  • Recently, the number of seismically isolated bridges increased suddenly since the occurrence of strong earthquakes. However, because isolator lies between pier and girder, the response of the superstructure of seismically isolated bridge may be magnified and induce risk of unseating girder Consequently, the response of girder constitutes a crucial factor in designing bridge. In the case of frictional bearing, the inherent nonlinearity makes the use of former linear response spectrum unable to estimate the maximum response of the bearing, and nonlinear tlme history analysis shall be applied. In this paper, nonlinear response spectrum considering frictional element is established, and simple analysis method using such nonlinear spectrum is proposed to estimate the maximum response of the superstructure.

디스크 받침용 고무패드의 거동 및 강성추정 (The Behavior and Estimated Stiffness Rubber Pad for Disk Bearing)

  • The aim of the present study is the characteristics of bridge rubber pads and suggested how to determine the stiffness the pads. A disk bearing is operated as an elastic bearing in the vertical direction and is composed of a Polyether Urethane (polyurethane) disk for elastic support and Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) to accommodate movement. Static tests are conducted in a laboratory to determine the static behavior of a Polyurethane disk. Finite Element (FE) analysis is also performed to verify the static performance. For dynamic behavior, four disk bearings having the identical Polyurethane disk used in the static tests are installed in a full size railway bridge and tested under a running locomotive. From the tests results, the static and dynamic stiffness of disk bearings are estimated and compared with each other. In the procedure to estimate the stiffness of a pad, the dead load(pre-load) of a bridge and live load of a vehicle are considered.

H-말뚝을 이용한 일체식교대 교량 (Integral Bridge Using H-pile)

  • The existing bridge with deck joint has many problems during construction and maintenance. To overcome these difficulties, an integral bridge, which is defined as the practice of constructing bridges without deck joints, is proposed in this study. A test bridge with 3 spans of PC beam was selected to verify the function of the bridge and is under construction. Characteristics of integral bridge are followings: $\circled1$ Flexible H-piles under the abutment are installed to accommodate thermal movements of the superstructures of bridge. $\circled2$ PC beam of the superstructure and the abutment are integrated. $\circled3$ The existing approach and relief slabs are applied to minimize the stress transfer occurred from the bridge deck to the pavement. $\circled4$ A cyclic control joint is installed between approach and relief slabs to absorb the thermal movement. $\circled5$ It is used a dual direction bearing which is cheaper than single direction bearing and has a good workability as well. It is also installed a shear block on the top of pier coping to protect the lateral movement caused by temperature change and earthquake.

  • Base Isolation system is an effective design strategy that provides a practical substitute for the seismic design of bridge. In this study, the dynamic tests were performed on two kinds of aseismic bridge bearings : Hydampot (hysteretic damping bearing) and Dynapot . Then, the dynamic analysis was carried out far a bridge using the experimental results to estimate the seismic performance of the bearings. Analysis was performed for four types oi earthquake loadings. The results of the dynamic test and theoretical analysis indicate that the performance of both bridge bearings is appropriate fur the earthquake loading.
