Hydraulic Property and Solute Breakthrough from Salt Accumulated Soils under Various Head Pressures

  • Salt accumulated soil should be reclaimed to lower salt level for crop production. This study was carried out to investigate the characteristics of water flow and transport of mono and divalent solutes on salt accumulated soils with different head pressures. Saturated hydraulic conductivity was measured by constant and falling head methods with maintaining different head pressures. Saturated hydraulic conductivity was influenced by bulk density and organic matter contents in soils, but it had different elusion patterns between saline and sodic soil. While the quantity of water necessary for reclamation could be varies with soil type, it was considered that the supply of one pore volume of water was affordable and economic. Additional head pressure significantly increased the volume of leachate at a given time and it was more effective at low organic matter soils. The results indicate that additional head pressure would be one of the best irrigation practices on desalination method for salt accumulated soils.

소각비산재로 제조한 광촉매 흡착제의 벤젠과 톨루엔 제거특성 (Removal of Benzene and Toluene by Photo-catalyst Adsorbent Prepared from MSWI Fly Ash)

  • In order to apply the photocatalytic decomposition of aromatic VOCs, adsorbent prepared from MSWI fly ash was coated by $TiO_2$ solution to endow with photo-catalytic function. The effects of coating number, existence of light source and the type of $TiO_2$ solution used for coating were examined. Adsorbent coated with amorphous $TiO_2$ solution showed higher adsorptivity than adsorbent coated with crystal $TiO_2$ solution. Without light source, breakthrough curve of photo -catalyst absorbent for VOCs removal was similar to that of absorbent made from MSWI fly ash. On the other hand, breakthrough time was enlarged with light source and total removal efficiency of benzene and toluene was also increased. It can be explained as photo-decomposition effect of $TiO_2$ photo-catalyst. Total removal efficiency of benzene and toluene was increased according to the increase of coating number with light source. It was due to the effect of adsorption and photo reaction of photo-catalytic adsorbent. But total removal efficiency of benzene was lower than that of toluene. Because benzene was removed more effectively than toluene by adsorption, but photo - decomposition effect oi toluene was more high than benzene.

활성탄 흡착칼럼의 농도변화곡선 추정 (An Estimation of Breakthrough Curve of Activated Carbon Adsorption Column)

  • 입상 및 분말 활성탄에 대한 페놀의 흡착평형실험을 $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$에서 행하였으며 그 결과를 Freundlich isotherm으로 나타내었다. 흡착속도 실험은 회분식 흡착법으로 입자외부 물질이동저항이 무시되는 조건하에서 행하였으며, 실험결과는 LDF 흡착속도상수를 구하기 위하여 Miller의 방법으로 해석하였다. 고정층 흡착칼럼에서 페놀-활성탄계의 흡착실험을 행하였다. 흡착칼럼실험은 온도를 $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$로 일정하게 유지하면서, 흡착대의 길이는 추산한 흡착대 길이보다 크게 하여 정형농도분포가 이루어지도록 하였다. 그리고 각기 다른 두 가지 공탑유속의 경우에 대해 실험하였다. LDF 모델식의 흡착속도계수는 흡착율에 따라 변화되며, 이 가변성 흡착속도계수를 사용하여 정형 농도변화곡선을 추정한 결과 일정 평균치를 사용한 경우보다 실험결과와 더 일치하였다.

나노 은입자가 첨착된 활성탄의 포름알데히드 제거특성 (Removals of Formaldehyde by Silver Nano Particles Attached on the Surface of Activated Carbon)

  • 본 연구에서는 나노 사이즈의 은입자가 첨착된 입상활성탄을 적용하여 기체상 포름알데히드의 흡착특성을 확인하고 실험결과를 수치해석 결과와 비교 평가하였다. 나노 은입자 첨착활성탄에 대해 BET분석 결과, 나노 은입자가 활성탄 표면의 미세기공을 막아 활성탄의 비표면적이 다소 감소하였으며, 특히 $20{\AA}$ 이하 micropore의 총 부피가 크게 감소한 것을 확인하였다. 포름알데히드에 대한 등온흡착실험 결과, 최대 겉보기 흡착능은 나노 은입자 첨착활성탄의 값이 일반활성탄에 비해 높았다. BET 표면적이나 미세기공의 감소에도 불구하고 나노 은입자 첨착활성탄이 향상된 포름알데히드 제거능을 나타낸 것은 은입자 첨착활성탄에서 흡착 외에 추가적인 포름알데히드의 촉매산화가 이루어지고 있기 때문으로 판단된다. 흡착강도를 의미하는 1/n은 두 가지 활성탄에 대해 모두 비슷한 기울기를 보여 활성탄의 표면 개질에 의해 활성탄 고유의 물리 화학적 흡착 성능은 영향을 받지 않은 것으로 판단된다. 연속유입 실험 결과에서도 나노 은입자 첨착활성탄이 일반활성탄보다 높은 포름알데히드 제거능을 나타내어 포름알데히드 산화효과를 확인하였다. 활성탄의 연속유입 실험결과를 수치해석 결과와 비교했을 때 나노 은입자 첨착활성탄에 대해서는 나노 은입자에 의한 산화효과를 반영하지 않고 있지 않아 실험결과와 거의 일치하지 않았다. 따라서 금속물질로 표면 개질된 활성탄 컬럼 설계에 수치해석 모델을 활용하고자 한다면 흡착뿐만이 아니라 촉매산화 효과가 반영된 새로운 수치모델의 개발이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

생체시료로부터 미량 이부푸로펜의 고상추출에 사용될 흡착제들의 특성 (Characterization of Adsorbents for the Solid-Phase Extraction of Trace Ibuprofen from Biological Samples)

  • The sorption and desorption properties of four different solid adsorbents were evaluated for the trace enrichment of ibuprofen from biological samples. Chromosorb 107 gave the highest dynamic adsorption coefficient. Among the organic solvents examined, acetone gave the highest desorption coefficient. Using the Chromosorb 107 column, the optimum elution volume of the eluting solvent was evaluated from the breakthrough curve of ibuprofen. The usefulness of Chromosorb 107 as the solid adsorbent and acetone as the eluting solvent was examined for the solid-phase extraction of ibuprofen from serum in the concentration range of $20{\sim}40\;{\mu}g/ml$.

생체시료로부터 미량 크로바잠의 고상추출을 위한 최적화 (Optimization for the Solid-Phase Extraction of Trace Clobazam from Biological Samples)

  • The sorption and desorption properties of four adsorbents were evaluated for the trace enrichment of clobazam from biological samples. Graphitized carbon black(GCB) gaved the highest dynamic adsorption coefficient. Among the six organic solvents examined, acetone gave the highest desorption coefficient for the clobazam adsorbed on GCB. Using the GCB column, the optimum elution volume of the eluting solvent was evaluated from the on-line monitored breakthrough curve for clobazam. When GCB as the solid adsorbent and acetone as the eluting solvent were used for the solidphase extraction of clobazam from serum, the recoveries were higher than 83% with good reproducibility in the concentration range of 20-50 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ml.

기술예측 방법론 및 이의 군사연구계획에의 응용 (Technological Forecasting and Its Application to Military R&D Programming)

  • This paper is to explore technological forecasting methodologies and their application to military R&D programming. Among a number of forecasting methodologies, eight frequently used methods are explained. They are; Delphi method, analogy, growth curve, trend extrapolation, analytical model, breakthrough, normative method, and combined method. Due to the characteristic situation of a developing country, the application of technological forecasting to the Korean military R&D programming is limited. Therefore, only two forecasting methods such as Delphi and normative method are utilized in the development of a decision model for the military R&D programming. The model consists of a dynamic programming using decision tree model, which optimizes the total cost to equip a certain military item under a given range of risk during a given period. Some pitfalls in forecasting methodologies and of the model are discussed.

침전법과 흡착법을 이용한 중금속 처리 (Treatment of Heavy Metal Wastewater by Pricipitation and Adsorption)

  • The purpose of this research is to develop the technique of heavy metal removal from wastewater. The research is divided into two parts, one part uses complex precipitation and the other uses adsorption. In the first part of the study, humic acid is used as the complex agent, humic acid is a polyelectrolyte with a high complexation affinity. Lead, copper, zinc and cadmium were studied for their complex precipitation efficiencies. In the batch studies, humic acid was effective in removing 100% of the lead and 48.2% of the copper respectively from wastewater without anytreatment. The efficiency of cadmium and zinc, however, was very low. In the second part of the study, wastewater is introduced at the top of a silicagel adsorption column and then bottom effluent concentration is analyzed. The results of the analysis are used to draw a breakthrough curve.

Synthesis of arsenic adsorbent using graft polymerization

  • Fibrous arsenic (As) adsorbent was synthesized by loading zirconium (Zr) on fibrous phosphoric adsorbent that was directly synthesized by radiation-induced graft polymerization of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate phosphoric acid on polyethylene-coated polypropylene nonwoven fabric. Zirconium reacted with phosphoric acid grafted in the polyethylene layer. Zirconium density of the resulting adsorbent was 4.1 mmol/g. The breakthrough curve of As(V) adsorption was independent of the flow rate up to $1300\;h^{-1}$ in space velocity. The total capacity of As(V) was 2.0 mmol/g-adsorbent at pH of 2. The adsorbed Zr(IV) could be evaluated by 0.4 M sodium hydroxide solution because negligible Zr(IV) could be found in the eluted solution.

  • 토양내에서 오염유기물질이 불포화토양내에 유입될 때의 dispersion coefficient를 adsorption과 desorption과정에 대해 알아보았다. apparent dispersion coefficient를 측정하기 위해 일상적인 상대습도(46%)조건에서 parametric analysis를 행하였다. 실험에 사용된 토양은 fine sand와 silt-clay혼합시료였고, 흐름방향은 상향과 하향으로 하였다. 그리고, Freon gas를adsorbing solute로 사용하였다. 오염물질로는 DCM, TCE, DCB를 사용하였다. 분석을 위해서 linear와 probability scale의 breakthrough curve를 사용하였다. 공기에서의 diffusion coefficient의 예측을 위하여 Graham's law를 계산에 사용하였고, DCM diffusion coefficient는 0.098$\textrm{cm}^2$/s로 계산되었다. 연구결과, adsorption과 desorption의 속도는 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, diffusion이 flow regime을 좌우하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고, desorption에서의 D$^{a}$ D$^{o}$ 는 1보다 클수도 있다. 또한, dispersion은 silt-clay혼합시료에서의 속도와 함께 증가한다. dispersion은 Freon의 sorption방향에 크게 의존한다.
