We have investigated the breakdown properties in liquids by high voltage pulse system. High voltage pulse power system is consisted of the Marx-generator with two capacitors (0.5 ${\mu}F$, withstanding voltage is 40 kV), to which the charging voltage can be applied to maximum 30 kV DC, spark gap switch and charging resistor of 20 $M{\Omega}$. We have made use of tungsten pin electrodes of anode-cathode (A-K), which are immersed into the liquids. The breakdown voltage and current signals are measured by high voltage probe (Tektronix P6015A) and current monitor (IPC CM-1.S). Especially the high speed breakdown or plasma propagation characteristics in the pulsed A-K gap have been investigated by using the high speed ICCD camera. We have measured the electron temperature through the Boltzmann plot method from the breakdown spectrums. Here the A-K gap has been changed by 1 mm, 2 mm, and 3 mm. The used liquids are distilled water and solution of salt (0.9 %). The output voltage and current signals at breakdown in distilled water are shown to be bigger than those in saline solution. The breakdown voltage and current characteristics in liquids will be discussed in accordance with A-K gap distances. It is also found that the electron temperatures and plasma densities in liquids are decreased in conformity with A-K gap.
For investigation of electrical properties of XLPE cable termination, we prepared a thermal contraction type kit and 6.6kV XLPE cable. The cable termination that have simulated defect by badness construction have been manufactured and their insulation characteristics such as ac and impulse withstand test have been measured. The influence of defects such as thickness decrease and heating time have been studied. When thickness decreased 1mm, the decreased of AC breakdown voltage value is not very distinctive. However, when thickness decreased 2mm, the insulation AC breakdown voltage value was very low down to 43kV. When approved heat for 300s than 60s, AC Breakdown voltage value appeared high. And also, after insulation breakdown took place, the sample was observed before and after disassembly, and the insulation breakdown hole was observed by means of optical microscope.
In this study, in order to investigate the applicability of IPN structure to epoxy resin which has been widely used as electrical and electronic insulating materials, DC dielectric breakdown properties and morphology were compared and analyzed according to variation of network structure, using the single network structure specimen formed of epoxy resin alone, interpenetrating polymer network specimen formed of epoxy resin/methacrylic acid resin, and interpenetrating polymer network specimen formed of epoxy resin/methacrylic acid resin/polyurethane resin. As results of the measunnent of DC dielectric breakdown strength at 50[.deg. C] and 130[>$^{\circ}C$], IPN specimen formed of epoxn, resin 100[phr] and methacrylic acid resin 35[phr] was the most excellent, and which corresponded to the SEM phenomena. The effect of IPN was more remarkable at high temperature region than at low temperature region. It is supposed that the defect of epoxy resin, dielectric breakdown strength is lowered remarkably at high temperature region, be complemented according to introducing IPN method.
High temperature superconductors can only be applied against an engineering specification that has to be determined for each particular application form the design requirements for economic viability and for operation margins in service. However, in order to realize the HTS transformer, it is necessary to establish the high voltage insulation technique in cryogenic temperature. Therefore, the composite insulation of double pancake coil type transformer are described and ac breakdown voltage characteristics of liquid nitrogen($LN_{2}$) under HITS pancake coil electrode made by Bi-2223/Ag are studied. Breakdown in $LN_{2}$ is dominated electrode shape and distance. And we investigated AC breakdown properties of $LN_{2}$ and complex conition of cryogenic gaseous nitrogen($CGN_{2}$) obove a $LN_{2}$ surface. Also, the surface voltage of GFRP was measured as a function of thickness and electrode distance in $LN_{2}$ and complex condition of $CGN_{2}$ above a $LN_{2}$ surface. This research presented information of electrical insulation design for double pancake coil type HTS transformer.
The dielectric breakdown of epoxy composites used for transformers was experimented and then its data were applied to Weibull distribution probability. First of all, speaking of dielectric breakdown properties, the more hardener increased, the stronger breakdown strength became at low temperature because of cross-linked density by the virtue of ester radical. The breakdown strength of specimens with filler was lower than it of non-filler specimens because it is believed that the adding filler forms interface and charge is accumulated in it, therefore the molecular motility is raised and the electric field is concentrated. In the case of filled specimens with treating silane, the breakdown strength become much higher. Finally, according to Weibull distribution analysis, reducing breakdown probability of equipment insulation lower than 0.1 % level requires the allowable field intensity values to be kept under 21.5 MV/cm.

The electrical breakdown characteristics of the synthetic fluids No.2 of KS class VII used for insulating and cooling the materials for the ignition coil are studied. Also, Benzotriazole(BTA) as the streaming electrification suppressant additive is added to the oil, and the change of electrical properties due to different BTA concentration is investigated. To investigate the electrical characteristics, the breakdown strength of each specimen by an experiment for AC breakdown are analyzed. The breakdown strength of specimen by adding BTA is higher than virgin specimen in low e region, but lower than that in high region because of melting BTA. It is considered that the effective content of BTA as charge suppressant additive is about 10[ppm] from the results of AC breakdown.
In this paper, We studied the properties of a cable insulate capacity between surfaces with the variation of the interfacial breakdown. Because the fault was mainly occurred in this interface. The insulate trouble of a power cable is out of the interfacial parts, which breakdown the insulate breakdown capacity in a power cable. As a function of silicon oil and interfacial roughness were investigated. In this study, the analysis of electric field and the phenomenon of interfacial breakdown were improved by increased interfacial of oil, decreased surface roughness.
Epoxy resin is a polar thermosetting polymer that is widely employed in different branches of industry and everyday life, due to their stable physical and chemical properties. Of all the polymer materials currently being used in the electrical insulation industry, epoxy resin is the most widely used kind, chosen as the base polymer material in the present study. Composites were prepared according to the mixing ratio (MS: MA, 1: 9, 3: 7, 5: 5, 7: 3, 9: 1)of mixture for Heterogeneous Minerals(Micro Silica:MS, Micro Alumina:MA) (MS+MA). We have investigated for AC electrical insulation breakdown characteristics and the dielectric properties (permittivity, dielectric loss, and conductivity) with frequency changes. The electrical AC insulation breakdown performance was improved with the increase of the mixing ratio of MS according to heterogeneous mineral material mixture(MS+MA). As Dielectric properties, the dielectric constant and dielectric loss increased with decreasing frequency and decreased with increasing MS content ratio of heterogeneous mineral mixture. Tensile strength and flexural strength according to the mixing ratio (MS + MA) of epoxy / heterogeneous mineral mixture were studied by mechanical properties. The performance of mechanical tensile and flexural strength was significantly improved as the fill contents ratio of MS increased.
