  • Curtain wall system of office buildings has recently become very common in Korea. As the multi-layer curtain glazing is exposed to outdoor environment, it is very subjected to direct environmental impact. Consequently, breakage and cracks of glazing due to heat expansion is frequently observed. This study explores various causes and aspects for destruction of multi-layer glazing. A sensitivity analysis was performed on the basis that thermal changes causes damage to the multi-layer glazing. Air temperature in air cavity within the multi-layer glazing was examined to find its effect on multi-layer glazing breakage. Analysis showed high deflection to depth ratio of 1:1.8 and that higher the aspect ratio, smaller is the deflection. Allowable pressure showed that the weakest value is for aspect ratio of 1:2.9. Sensitivity analysis by the area of the glazing showed that as area of glazing becomes higher, allowable pressure and deflection-depth ratio becomes smaller. For allowable pressure and allowable deflection-depth within air cavity, the glazing breakage occurred at least $107^{\circ}C$. The results from glazing breakage by thermal factor shows that it is hard to break the glazing with only an increase in air cavity temperature in multi-layer glazing applied in buildings.

  • Puroindoline alleles, grain characteristics, milling performances and physical properties of flour of 22 Korean wheat cultivars were evaluated to determine the influence of puroindolines genotypes on grain and flour characteristics and to provide useful information for improving milling and end-use quality in Korean wheat breeding programs. Nine Korean wheat cultivars carried with Pina-D1a/Pinb-D1a, 11 cultivars had Pina-D1a/Pinb-D1b and 2 cultivars were Pina-D1b/Pinb-D1a. Korean wheats carrying with Pina-D1a/Pinb-D1a genotypes showed lower test weight and thousand kernel weight, area and roundness of grain and hardness index in grain characteristics, lower flour yield and higher proportion of break flour in milling performances and lower average particle size of flour, ash and damaged starch content, water retention capacity, yellowness-blueness and higher lightness of flour than wheats with Pina-D1a/Pinb-D1b or Pina-D1b/Pina-D1a genotypes. Pina-D1a/Pinb-D1b genotypes showed lower 1000-kernel weight, grain area, higher average of particle size of flour, higher ash and damaged starch content than Pina-D1b/Pina-D1a genotypes. There was no difference in hardness index of grain, milling performances, flour color between Pina-D1a/Pinb-D1b and Pina-D1b/Pina-D1a genotypes. These results could present the information to improve milling quality and physical properties of flour in Korean wheat breeding programs.

  • Charcoal $tube/CS_2$ method are more popularly used than any other in the measurement of the working environment for the exposure evaluation of organic solvent, but it is some weak points that the lower accuracy can be obtained on the polar materials and within the range of the low concentration. Thus solvent desorption method has been developed to make accuracy higher and to overcome some weak points. However, because of high price of adsorption tube for thermal desorption and the short of study on its application to the working environment, it is not popularly used in the domestic industrial hygiene fields. This dissertation aims to develop thermal desorption and adsorption tubes for measuring organic solvents in the working environment, by comparing and analyzing breakthrough condition and adsorption capacity with ACF. Specific surface area of ACF used in this study is wider than the one of AC and micropore of ACF related with adsorption has been developed, and adsorption velocity and adsorption amount are very excellent by linking a pore of surface and an inside well into micropore. 1. Result of analysis on physical characteristics of adsorbent, the specific surface area of ACF was 1.3 times higher than that of AC. Distribution ratio of micropore related to adsorption was 94% on ACF and AC. Result of SEM, micropore of the AC is opened to the surface. In contrast, ACF shows that extremely fast adsorption speed. Because of micropore are exposed on the surface and penetrate through each other. 2. Breakthrough characteristics of adsorbents was not different from slop of breakthrough curve. The effluent concentration reaches 10% of initial concentration($C_{out}/C_{in}=0.1$, break point) of ACF was 30~316min longer than that of AC. Therefore, the adsorption capacities of ACF was 1.1~4.6 times higher than that of AC. ACF can be used as a proper adsorbent for measurement of organic solvent.

  • In this study, we evaluated flood risk by applying calculation fomula considering practical risk calculated by inundation analysis information through 2D inundation analysis, suggested a plan that provides a standardized information system. Generally, we evaluated flood risk to people and classified four degrees by using inundation depth, velocity, Debris Factor and Flood Hazard Rating relationship because current flood risk assessment method based inundation depth and area was considered to not fully reflect the actual risk to people on flood. We simulated overflow and levee break scenarios according to 500 year and 200 year floods, respectively, by using Flumen which is a 2D flood inundation model for Geumho river basin in Daegu. The result of this study could contribute to inform practical risk information to people in expected flood area. This study can be useful for the fields of disaster estimatingsuch as information analysis, evaluation, planning by offering Risk information based on standardized information system.

  • The objectives of this study are to determine cortical granule distribution during in vitro maturation, parthenogenetic activation and in vitro fertilization of oocytes, and to investigate effects of microfilament inhibitor on the cortical granule distribution during in vitro maturation and fertilization of oocytes in the pig, The corti-cal granule distribution were imaged with fluor-escent labeled lectin under laser scanning confocal microscope or detected by transmission electron microscope. At germinal vesicle stage, cortical granule organelles were located around the cell cortex and were present as a relatively thick area on the oolema. Microfilaments were also observed in a thick uniform area around the cell cortex. Following germinal vesicle break down, microfilaments concentrated to the condensed chromatin and cortical granules were observed in the cortex. Treatment with cytochalasin B inhibited microfilament polymerization and prevented movement of cortical granules to the cortex. Cortical granule exudate following sperm penetration was evenly distributed in the entire perivitelline space. Therefore, these results suggested that the microfilament assembly is involved in the distribution, movement and exocytosis of cortical granules during maturation and fertilization of porcine oocytes. (Key words cortical granule, porcine, maturation, fertilization).

  • In this study, a 2-D flood inundation model was developed to evaluate the impact of levee failure in a natural basin for flood analysis. The model was applied to analyze the inundation flow from the levee break of Gamcheon river during the typhoon Rusa on October 31 through September 1, 2002. To verify the simulated results, wide range field surveys have been performed including the collection of NGIS database, land use condition, flooded area, and flow depths. Velocity distributions and inundation depths were presented to demonstrate the robustness of the model. Model results have good agreements with the observed data in terms of flood level and flooded area. The model is able to compute maximum stage and peak discharge efficiently in channel and protected lowland. Methodology considering radar-rainfall estimation using cokriging scheme, flood-runoff and inundation analysis in this study will contribute to the establishment of the national integrated flood disaster prevention system and the river or protect lowland management system.

  • Stress analysis of bottom-hole rock has to be considered with much care to further understand rock fragmentation mechanism and high penetration rate. This original study establishes a fully coupled simulation model and explores the effects of overburden pressure, horizontal in-situ stresses, drilling mud pressure, pore pressure and temperature on the stress distribution in bottom-hole rock. The research finds that in air drilling, as the well depth increases, the more easily the bottom-hole rock is to be broken. Moreover, the mud pressure has a great effect on the bottom-hole rock. The bigger the mud pressure is, the more difficult to break the bottom-hole rock is. Furthermore, the maximum principal stress of the bottom-hole increases as the mud pressure, well depth and temperature difference increase. The bottom-hole rock can be divided into three main regions according to the stress state, namely a) three directions tensile area, b) two directions compression areas and c) three directions compression area, which are classified as a) easy, b) normal and c) hard, respectively, for the corresponding fragmentation degree of difficulty. The main contribution of this paper is that it presents for the first time a thorough study of the effect of related factors, including stress distribution and temperature, on the bottom-hole rock fracture rather than the well wall, using a thermo-poroelastoplasticity model.

  • The experimental study was carried out to investigate propagation distance of flood wave due to levee breach in a flat inundation area without obstacle. Hitter solution was considered to formulate the experimental results and a representative form was written referring to existing researches. As a result of experiments, it was found that the propagation velocity of the wave front in inundation area was significantly influenced by the initial water level in a channel, which was similar to flow in a channel due to dam break. An empirical formula was also suggested using the experimental results. The dimensionless propagation distance L can be written as the power function of dimensionless time T Coefficients k and m were varied with the dimensionless time T whereas k and m in Ritter solution were 2 and 0, respectively. The variation of coefficients in the relationship between L and T was influenced by the water depth in the inundation area and the fact proved that the changing points of L in the slope of relationship between L and T are the same to those of relationship between the dimensionless maximum water depth in the inundation area, $h_{max}$ and L.

  • Recently demand for the 3D modeling technology to reconstruct real world is getting increasing. However, existing geospatial data are mainly based on the 2D space. In addition, most of the geospatial data provide geometric information only. In consequence, there are limits in various applications to utilize information from those data and to reconstruct the real world in 3D space. Therefore, it is required to develop efficient 3D mapping methodology and data for- mat to establish geospatial database. Especially digital elevation model(DEM) is one of the essential geospatial data, however, DEM provides only spatially distributed 3D coordinates of the natural and artificial surfaces. Moreover, most of DEMs are generated without considering terrain properties such as surface roughness, terrain type, spatial resolution, feature and so on. This paper suggests adaptive and flexible geospatial data format that has possibility to include various information such as terrain characteristics, multiple resolutions, interpolation methods, break line information, model keypoints, and other physical property. The study area was categorized into mountainous area, gently rolling area, and flat area by taking the terrain characteristics into account with respect to terrain roughness. Different resolutions and interpolation methods were applied to each area. Finally, a 3D digital map derived from aerial photographs was integrated with the geospatial data and visualized.
