To analyze the distribution of plant communities growing in river wetlands and the relationship between biotic and abiotic environmental factors, plant communities and environmental factors were investigated in river wetlands in the Boseong River. The Boseong River Wetland, the research site, consists of Hwapyeong Wetland, Bangujeong Wetland, and Seokgok Wetland. From June to September 2022, a plant community survey was conducted from the perspective of physiognomical vegetation, and the coverage of the emerging species followed the Braun-Blanquet scale. Plant species and the coverage of each species were recorded in the quadrant for plant community survey, and the cover of the quadrant, the total number of species, and the number of exotic species were measured as biological factors. As abiotic factors, altitude, orientation, inclination, soil texture, litter layer depth, dominant species diameter at breast height, and topography were recorded. In a total of 50 square plots, the most common Salix koreensis and Phragmites japonicus communities were found, and the community with the highest Shannon species diversity index was Phragmites japonicus-Echinochloa caudata community. As a result of ordination analysis by DCCA, the most significant clusters were separated according to topographic factors such as leeve, leeve slope, upper floodplain, lower floodplain, upper waterside, middle waterside, lower waterside, river island and opem water. As rare plants that need to be preserved in river wetlands, Hydrocharis dubia and Penthorum chinense were found in lower waterside, and it was found that the management of the river in the reservoir is necessary in line with the topographical distribution of ecosystem-disrupting plants, such as Paspalum distichum var. indutum.

This study was carried out to analyze forest vegetation in Seodaesan of Geumsan, Chungnam Province. Employing the releve method of Braun-Blanquet and quadrat method, 36 plots were sampled in forest of Seodaesan. The sub-communities were classified into Pinus densiflora, Acer pseudosieboldianum, and Carpinus laxiflora sub-community of Quercus mongolica community. The importance values were 77.07 in Quercus mongolica, 40.79 in Pinus densiflora, 17.03 Fraxinus rhynchophylla, 14.06 in Fraxinus sieboldiana, 13.99 in Quercus serrata, 12.93 Acer pseudosiebotdianum. Coverage rate was 84.6% in tree layer, 52.8% in subtree layer, 29.1% in shrub layer, 27.9% in herb layer, respectively. Most of the DBH of Quercus mongolica and Pinus densiflora was between 5cm and 20cm. Therefore, Quercus mongolica and Pinus densiflora might be dominant species in the study area for several decades. Acer pseudosieboldianum and Carpinus laxiflora sub-communities were distributed mainly in a high-altitude and northern and north-western area. Pinus densiflora sub-community was distributed mainly in a low-altitude and western area.
The order of Rhododendro-Quercetalia mongolicae representing temperate oak forests in Korea was characterized in terms of presence of taxa of different rank. 140 releves were analysed for percentage contribution of each species, genera and families in syntaxa under consideration as well as extracton of diagnostic genera and families for syntaxa by an ordination technique. The Rhododendro-Quercetalia is characterized by high diversity of tree and shrub species contributing 40% of the total floristic composition as well as by a high contribution of the genus Rhododendron and the absence of the genus Fagus, characteristic of the QuercoFagetea sensu lato. The character families for the Rhododendron and Quercus include Liliaceae and Compositae, whereas Acer, Carex, Viola, Rhododendron and Quercus are the most common among genera. Rhododendron and Quercus are regarded as the transgressive cheractergenera, whereas the families of Pinaceae and Ericaceae are considered companions (in sense of the terminology of the Braun-Blanquet syntaxonomy) for the order. Family appeared to be an inadequate rank for diagnoses of alliances and suballiances. On the other hand, genus was found to be the most effective rank in differentiating the alliances and suballiances. The Lindero-Quercenion shares the same character-genera with the order Rhododendro-Quercetalia. Character genera of the suballiances Callicarpo-quercenion are Carpinus, Styrax, Smilax and Callicarpa, and those of the Pino-Quercion list Euonymus, Saussurea and Tilia.

Urban streams have, recently, been straightened and widened to alleviate flooding problem. As a result, the stream have been modified inadvertently for ecological functions and microtopography. In this study, we investigated riparian vegetation and microtopography of the tributaries of Han River before and after the monsoon rain in summer. The purpose of this study was to relate the stream microtopography to the distribution of riparian vegetation. The stream microtopography was investigated for its scale and pattern. Vegetation was investigated from 131 plots by Braun-Blanquet method. The distribution of riparian vegetation was significantly correlated with the stream microtopography. Various herbaceous species occurred at stream bank slop, high terrace and channel side. However, at channel side and concave part of terrace where soils were in high moisture level, only a few wetland species were dominated. The complexity of the microtopography in the stream corridors led to heterogeneous riparian vegetation. The vegetation showed more stability against flooding at the stream corridors with natural and complex microtopography than at the urban-type stream corridors with simple topographical features. The results showed that the development of riparian vegetation was influenced by the changes in microtopography, which was primarily determined by the shape and characteristics of channel. It seemed that a close-to-nature river system would be restored more readily with an understanding of microtopographical features affecting the distribution of riparian vegetation.
The phytosociological investigation was carried out at 32 sites of the riparian vegetation in Musim-Chon stream passed through Choengju-City, Chungcheongbuk-Province by Braun-Blanquet's method from August to October, 1997. The flora of vascular plants in this survey was 202 species. The riparian vegetation was classified into 25 communities as follows. The submerged hydrophytes are Potomogeton malaianus var. latifolius community, Potomogeton crispus community, Myriophyllum verticillatum community-Hydrilla verticillata community and Ceratophyllum demersum community. The floating-leaved hydrophyte is Trapa japonica community. The emerged hydrophytes are Phragmites communis community, Perzicaria thunbergii community, Phragmites japonica community, Oenanthe javanica community, Zizania latifolia community and Persicaria hydropiper community. The herbaceous vegetation of floodplain are Artemisia montana community, Humulus japonicus community, Miscanthus sacchariflorus community, Erigeron anmus community, Impatiens balsamina community, Bidens frondosa community, Setaria viridis community, Ambrosia artemisiifolia var. elatior community and Eragrostis ferruginea community. The woody vegetation of floodplain are Robinia pseudo-acacia community, Stephanandra incisa community and Clematis apiifolia community. The species diversity was low in the upper and down stream, while the diversity was high in the mid stream situated at the center of Choengju-City because of frequent disturbance by citizens. These results suggested that distribution of communities and species diversity was closely related to the disturbance.
We used the Braun-Blanquet method to study coastal dune vegetation of South Korea. Coastal vegetation was monitored in thirty sites from April 2004 to September 2005. Seventeen plant communities were classified into five groups as follows: A. Two associations of herbaceous sand dune plants in Salsoletea komarovii Ohba, Miyawaki et Tx. 1973 (Calystegia soldanella community, Lathyrus japonicus-Calystegia soldanella community), B. Twelve associations of herbaceous perennial sand dune plants in Glehnietea littoralis Ohba, Miyawaki et Tx. 1973 (Carex pumila community, Elymus mollis community, Vitex rotundifolia-Elymus mollis community, Ixeris repens community, Elymus mollis-Ixeris repens community, Lathyrus japonicus community, Messershmidia sibirica community, Glehnia littoralis community, Carex kobomugi community, Calystegia solda-nella-Carex kobomugi community, Ishaemum anthephoroides community, Zoysia macrostachya community), C. One association of shrubby perennial sand dune plant in Viticetea rotundifoliae Ohba, Miyawaki et Tx. 1973 (Vitex rotundifolia community), D. One association of shrubby perennial sand dune plant in Rosetea multiflorae Ohba, Miyawaki et Tx. 1973 (Rosa rugosa community), E. The naturalized community (Diodia teres community).

Syntaxonomy and Synecology on Quercus variabilis forests in Daecheong-dam basin was carried out using the methods of Braun-Blanquet phytosociology. 6 syntaxa classified as species compositions described were Quercus variabilis community, Platycarya strobilacea-Quercus variabilis community(typicum subcommunity, dictamnus dasycarpus subcommunity), Quercetum variabili-serratae, Zelkova serrata-Quercus variabilis community and Dendranthema boreale-Quercus variabilis community. All syntaxa were shown habitat environmental conditions including steep inclination of more than 30°, high rock exposure rate of more than 50% and South-facing slope. These communities excepting Dendranthema boreale-Quercus variabilis community classified as natural vegetation were identified as low emergence rate of annual plants and species compositions composed native species, so it was confirmed that relatively natural succession were proceeding well. Quercetum variabili-serratae and Dendranthema boreale-Quercus variabilis community distributed forested hillslope of open water edge were representative Quercus variabilis syntaxa in Daecheong-dam basin.
Employing the relev$\acute{e}$ method of Muller-Dombois & Ellenberg and Braun-Blanquet, 100 plots were sampled in the Quercus mongolica community of Mt. Odae, Mt. Chumbong and Mt. Jungwang in Kangwon-do. To analyze the data, phytosociological method and TWINSPAN were used. 1. Quercus mongolica forests were recognized as Quercus mongolica-Acer pseudosieboldianum community group, and were classified into Quercus mongolica-Carpinus cordata community, Quercus mongolica-Acer pseudosieboldianum typical community, Quercus mongolica-Lespedeza maximocoiczii community and Quercus mongolica-Abies nephrolepis community by phytosociological method. Quercus mongolica-Carpinus cordata community was subdivided into Acer mandshuricum subcommunity and typical subcommunity. 2. According to the classification of TWINSPAN, it was categorized into five groups, such as Quercus mongolica-Acer mandshuricum community, Quercus mongolica-Carpinus cordata community, Quercus mongolica-Acer pseudosieboldianum community, Quercus mongolica-Lindera obtusiloba community, and Quercus mongolica-Abies nephrolepis community. 3. Since the results of phytosociological community classification, which identify five groups of the community, were consistent with that of TWINSPAN, it proved that these two methods could be complement when one do a community classification.
