It is well known that the equiatomic FeAl alloy crystallizes in a paramagnetic CsCl structure and is very stable in a wide temperature range owing to a significant charge transfer from Al to Fe. A presence of structural defects normally enhances the magnetic and magneto-optical properties of this alloy. In this study spin-resolved photoemission and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) were carried out on both ordered and disordered $Fe_{0.52}Al_{0.48}$ alloy films. The disordered state in the alloy films was obtained by a vapor quenching deposition on cooled substrates. It is shown that the order-disorder transition in the Fe0.52Al0.48 alloy films leads to a significant change in the spin polarization. Form the MCD results the orbital and spin magnetic moments of the constituent atoms are obtained. According to the sum rule the spin and orbital magnetic moments of Fe in the disordered FeAl film are $\mu\frac{SR}{spin}=0.8\mu_B$ and $\mu\frac{SR}{orb}=0.14\mu_B$ respectively. The spin magnetic moment is also evaluated to be $\mu\frac{BR}{spin}=0.77\mu_B$ by the branching ration method employing a photon polarization of 90%.
The modeling efficiency of concrete meso-models close to real concrete is one of the important issues that limit the accuracy of mechanical simulation. In order to improve the modeling efficiency and the closeness of the numerical aggregate shape to the real aggregate, this paper proposes a method for generating a two-dimensional concrete meso-model based on pixel matrix and skeleton theory. First, initial concrete model (a container for placing aggregate) is generated using pixel matrix. Then, the skeleton curve of the residual space that is the model after excluding the existing aggregate is obtained using a thinning algorithm. Finally, the final model is obtained by placing the aggregate according to the curve branching points. Compared with the traditional Monte Carlo placement method, the proposed method greatly reduces the number of overlaps between aggregates by up to 95%, and the placement efficiency does not significantly decrease with increasing aggregate content. The model developed is close to the actual concrete experiments in terms of aggregate gradation, aspect ratio, asymmetry, concavity and convexity, and old-new mortar ratio, cracking form, and stress-strain curve. In addition, the cracking loss process of concrete under uniaxial compression was explained at the mesoscale.
A gene encoding the dextransucrase(dsCB) that synthesizes mostly $\alpha-(1\rightarrow6)$ linked dextran with low amount(10%) of $\alpha-(1\rightarrow3)$ branching was cloned and sequenced from Leuconostoc mesenteroides B-742CB. The 6.1 kbp DNA fragment carrying dsCB showed one open reading frame(ORF) composed of 4,536bp. The deduced amino acid sequence shows that it begins from the start codon(ATG) at position 698 of the cloned DNA fragment and extends to the termination condon(TAA) at position 5,223. The enzyme is consisted of 1,508 amino acids and has an calculated molecular mass of 168.6kDa. This calculated Mw was in good agreement with an activity band of 170kDa on non-denaturing SDS-PAGE. A recombinant E. coli DH5 $alpha$ harboring pDSCB produced extracellular dextransucrase in 2% sucrose medium, and synthesized both soluble and insoluble dextran. To compare the properties of enzyme with B-742CB dextransucrase, the acceptor reaction, hydrolysis of dextran and methylation were performed. The expressed enzyme showed the same properties as B-742CB dextransucrease, but its ability to synthesize $\alpha-(1\rightarrow3)$ branching was lower than that of B-742CB dextransucrase. In order to identify the critical amino acid residues known as conserved regions related to catalytic activity, Asp-492 was replaced with Asn. D492N resulted in a 1.6 fold decrease in specific activity.
Some hydromedusae were collected from the East Sea ($36^{\circ}$30'124'N and $130^{\circ}$06'446'E), Yousu and Youngkwang with horizontal plankton net during from Nov. 2001 to Dec. 2002. They were identified into Proboscidactyla flavicirrata in the order Limnomedusae, and Muggiaea bargmannae and Diphyes bojani in the suborder Calycophorae of the order Siphonophora, respectively. P. flavicirrata is similar with P. stellata in the shape and size, but it is distinguished from later species in that P. stellata has six radial canals, 24 short marginal tentacles and dichotomous branching pattern. The suborder Calycophorae is the first recorded in Korea and posseses only develop a nectosome. In Muggiaea bargmannae, anterior nectophore is simillar with Dimophyes arctica in the shape of nectophore, but it is distinguished from the later in that D. arctica has a undivided mouth plate and deeper hydroecium. In Diphyes bojani, anterior nectophore is simillar with Diphyes dispar in the shape of nectophore, but it is distinguished from the later in which D. dispar has a deeper hydroecium and more prominant dorsal tooth. No posterior nectophores of Muggiaea bargmannae and Diphyes bojani have been observed.

While interacting with a sloping structure, an ice floe may fracture in different patterns. For example, it can be local bending failure or global splitting failure depending on the contact properties, geometry and confinement of the ice floe. Modelling these different fracture patterns as a natural outcome of numerical simulations is rather challenging. This is mainly because the effects of crack propagation, crack branching, multi fracturing modes and eventual fragmentation within a solid material are still questions to be answered by the on-going research in the Computational Mechanic community. In order to simulate the fracturing of ice floes with arbitrary geometries and confinement; and also to simulate the fracturing events at such a large scale yet with sufficient efficiency, we propose a semi-analytical/empirical and semi-numerical approach; but with focus on the global splitting failure mode in this paper. The simulation method is validated against data we collected during the Oden Arctic Technology Research Cruise 2015 (OATRC2015). The data include: 1) camera images based on which we specify the exact geometry of ice floes before and after an impact and fracturing event; 2) IMU data based on which the global dynamic force encountered by the icebreaker is extracted for the impact event. It was found that this method presents reasonably accurate results and realistic fracturing patterns upon given ice floes.
Phyllodes tumor(PT) is a rare distinctive fibroepithelial breast tumor that occasionally shows unpredictable clinical behavior. Wide excision should be the primary treatment of PT and enucleation, the standard procedure for fibroadenoma(FA), is proscribed due to high frequency of local recurrence. Therefore an accurate preoperative diagnosis of PT is essential in order to ensure proper surgical treatment. However, the differentiation between benign PT and FA is often difficult on the basis of cytologic findings. In an attempt to better understand the cytologic features of benign PT and possibly to differentiate PT from FA on the findings of fine needle aspiration(FNA) smears, we reviewed cytologic smears from 22 histologically diagnosed cases each of benign PT and FA, respectively. The cytologic features assessed were cellularity and atypia of both epithelial and stromal components, and shape of epithelial cell clusters. Atypia of stromal cells was more frequent in PT, while blunt branching pattern of epithelial cells was more frequent in FA. The specific cytologic diagnosis of PT is not possible in many cases, but the abundance of stromal cells with moderate nuclear atypia in the correct clinical setting such as older age and larger size(>4cm) allows the diagnosis.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the fracture characteristics and the effect of resin bonding of laminate porcelain. In order to characterize the indentation-induced crack, Young's moduli and characteristic indentation dimensions were measured. The fatigue life under three point flexure test was measured using the electro-dynamic type fatigue machine, and the crack propagation with thermocycling was investigated on the condition of 15 second dwell time each in $5^{\circ}C\;and\;55^{\circ}C$ bath. The Vickers indentation pattern and the fracture surface were examined by an optical microscope and a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results obtained were summarized as follows ; 1. Young's moduli(E) of the laminate porcelain and the resin cement used in this experiment were $62.56{\pm}3.79GPa$ and $15.01{\pm}0.12GPa$, respectively. 2. The initial crack size of the laminate porcelain was $69.19{\pm}5.94{\mu}m$ when an indentation load of 9.8N was applied, and the fracture toughness was $1.065{\pm}0.156MPa\;m^{1/2}$. 3. The fatigue life of laminate porcelain showed the constant fracture range at the stress level 27.46-35.30MPa. 4. When a cyclic flexure load was applied, the fatigue life of resin-bonded laminate porcelain was more decreased than that of laminate porcelain. 5. When a thermocycling was conducted, the crack growth rate of resin-bonded laminate porcelain was more increased than that of laminate porcelain. 6. Fracture surface showed the radial crack, the lateral crack, and the macroscopic crack branching region beneath the plastic deformation region when an indentation load of 9.8N was applied.

This research proposes a new risk analysis model in order to guarantee successful performance of construction projects. The risk analysis model, called Construction Risk Analysis System(CRAS), is introduced to help contractors Identify project risks through RBS and through the procedures in risk analysis model. The proposed CRAS model consists of three phases. First step, CRAS model can help contractors decide whether or not they bid for a project by analysing risks involved in the project. Second step, the influence diagraming, decision tree and Monte Carlo simulation are used as tools to analyze and evaluate project risks quantitatively. Third step, Monte Carlo simulation is used to assess risk for groups of activities with probabilistic branching and calendars. Consequently, it will help contractors identify risk elements in their projects and quantify the impact of risk on project time and cost.
Many experimental and numerical approaches have been developed to evaluate paving materials and to predict pavement response and distress. Micromechanical simulation modeling is a technology that can reduce the number of physical tests required in material formulation and design and that can provide more details, e.g., the internal stress and strain state, and energy evolution and dissipation in simulated specimens with realistic microstructural features. A clustered distinct element modeling (DEM) approach was implemented In the two-dimensional particle flow software package (PFC-2D) to study the complex behavior observed in asphalt mixture fracturing. The relationship between continuous and discontinuous material properties was defined based on the potential energy approach. The theoretical relationship was validated with the uniform axial compression and cantilever beam model using two-dimensional plane strain and plane stress models. A bilinear cohesive displacement-softening model was implemented as an intrinsic interface and applied for both homogeneous and heterogeneous fracture modeling in order to simulate behavior in the fracture process zone and to simulate crack propagation. A disk-shaped compact tension test (DC(T)) with heterogeneous microstructure was simulated and compared with the experimental fracture test results to study Mode I fracture. The realistic arbitrary crack propagation including crack deflection, microcracking, crack face sliding, crack branching, and crack tip blunting could be represented in the fracture models. This micromechanical modeling approach represents the early developmental stages towards a 'virtual asphalt laboratory,' where simulations of laboratory tests and eventually field response and distress predictions can be made to enhance our understanding of pavement distress mechanisms, such its thermal fracture, reflective cracking, and fatigue crack growth.
This investigation has been carried out to clarify structural architecture of cerebral neuroendocrine systems in the fifth instar lanra of cabbage butterfly Pieris rapae. In order to examine the cerebral neurosecretorv cell systems the brain and retrocerebral neuroendocrine complex were histochemically stained with the paraldehvde fuchsin. The brain of the fifth instar laMa contains three kinds of neurosecretorv cells: medial, lateral and tritocerebral neurosecretorv cells. The axon bundles of medial and lateral neurosecretory cells form medial neurosecretory pathway(MNSP) and lateral neurosecretorv pathwav(LNSP) within the brain respectively. Especially, prior to exiting the brain, the axon bundles of medial neurosecretorH cells located in both left and right cefebral hemispheres decussate in cerebral medial region and project to contralateral retrocerebral neuroendocrine complexes. Outside the brain the axon bundles of medial and lateral neurosecretory cells form the nenri corporis cardiaca(NCC) I and II respectively. The NCC I and ll run together to the retrocerebral neuroendocrine complex, forming the large nenre bundles in both left md right sides. The anon bundles of tritocerebral neurosecretory cells which pass through the brain along the tritocerebral neurosecretory pathway (TNSP) form the Ncc III outids the train. some of the Ncc I and it terminate in the corpus cardiacum, while the others pass through the corpus cardiacum without termination. The nerve bundle which passes the corpus cardiacum forms the nenrus corforis allatum(NCA) I which runs between the corpus cardiacum and the corpus allatum. Theyt are finally innervated to the corpus allatum. The Ncc III Projects to the corpus cardiRcum. However, most of NCC III priss through the corpus cardiacum without branching and then run down for another organ.
