  • The objective of this article is to study the general set-valued nonlinear variational-hemivariational inequalities and investigate the gap function, regularized gap function and Moreau-Yosida type regularized gap functions for the general set-valued nonlinear variational-hemivariational inequalities, and also discuss the error bounds for such inequalities using the characteristic of the Clarke generalized gradient, locally Lipschitz continuity, inverse strong monotonicity and Hausdorff Lipschitz continuous mappings.

  • Scalability is one of the toughest challenges in ad hoc networking. Recent work outlines theoretical bounds on how well routing protocols could scale in this environment. However, none of the popular routing solutions really scales to large networks, by coming close enough to these bounds. In this paper, we study the case of link state routing and OLSR, one of the strongest candidates for standardization. We analyze how these bounds are not reached in this case, and we study how much the scalability is enhanced with the use of Fish eye techniques in addition to the link state routing framework. We show that with this enhancement, the theoretical scalability bounds are reached.

  • The connectivity-based reliable multicast MAC protocol was proposed for IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs and the formulae for the lower bounds of the multicast downlink throughput and the uplink throughput of the connectivity-based reliable multicast MAC protocol were derived in our previous study. We provide the tighter throughput lower bounds of the connectivity-based reliable multicast MAC protocol than the lower bounds presented in our previous study.

  • In this paper, new upper matrix bounds for the solution of the continuous algebraic Riccati equation (CARE) are derived. Following the derivation of each bound, iterative algorithms are developed for obtaining sharper solution estimates. These bounds improve the restriction of the results proposed in a previous paper, and are more general. The proposed bounds are always calculated if the stabilizing solution of the CARE exists. Finally, numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the present schemes.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a method of the sensitivity analysis that can be applied to a non-tree solution of the minimum cost flow problem. First, we introduce two types of sensitivity analysis. A sensitivity analysis of Type 1a is the well known method applicable to a tree solution. However this method can not be applied to a non-tree solution. So we propose a sensitivity analysis of Type 2 that keeps solutions of upper bounds at upper bounds, those of lower bounds at lower bounds, and those of intermediate values at intermediate values. For the cost coefficient we present a method that the sensitivity analysis of Type 2 is solved by finding the shortest path. Besides we also show that the results of Type 2 and Type 1 are the same in a spanning tree solution. For the right-hand side constant or the capacity, the sensitivity analysis of Type 2 is solved by a simple calculation using arcs with intermediate values.

  • In this paper, we consider the departure process from the open and nested tandem Queueing network with population constraint and constant service times. It is known that the Queueing network can be transformed into a simple Queueing network which can be easy to analyze. Using this simple Queueing network, upper and lower bounds on the interdeparture time are obtained. We prove that the variance of the interdeparture time is bounded within these two bounds. Validation against simulation data is shown that how it works the variance of the interdeparture time within two bounds. These bounds can be applied to obtain the better variance of the interdeparture time using a suitable method.

  • In this paper, both dynamic constraints and kinematic constraints are considered for the analysis of manipulability of robotic systems comprised of multiple cooperating arms. Given bounds on the torques of each Joint actuator for every robot, the purpose of this study is to drive the bounds of task-space acceleration of object carried by the system. Bounds on each joint torque, described as a polytope, is transformed to the task-space acceleration through matrices related with robot dynamics, robot kinematics, object dynamics, grasp conditions, and contact conditions. A series of mathematical manipulations including the procedure calculating minimum infinite-norm solution of linear equation is applied to get the reachable acceleration bounds from given actuator dynamic constrains. Several examples including two robot systems as well as three robot system are shown with the assumptions of complete-constraint contact model(or' very soft contact') and insufficient or proper degree of freedom robot.

  • Robust stability of discrete-time regulators which utilize state predictors to compensate computation delays is considered. Novel expressions for the return difference matrices and the complementary sensitivity matrices at the input and the output of the regulator are found to obtain simple bounds for unstructured perturbations. Robust stability for pertubations of the system matrix and /or the gain matrix is also considered. under certain restriction on the nominal system simple bounds for the pertubations are obtained directly from the characteristic equation. It is shown that as far as the effect of the computation delays concerns these bounds have explicit relation to those for the unstructured pertubations.

  • Capacitated facility location problems have received a great deal of attention in the past decade, resulting in a proliferation of algorithms for solving them. As is the case with mixed 1-1 integer programming problems, the computational success of such algorithms depends greatly on how to obtain lower bounds in good quality within a resonable time. The objective of this paper is to provide a comparative analysis of those algorithms in terms of lower bounds they produce. Analyses of the strategies for generating lower bounds as well as the quality of generated lower bounds are provided.

  • This paper presents upper bounds of Maximum Likelihood (ML) decoding performance of a few irregular LDPC codes using the simple bound and ML input output weight distributions and it is shown that contrary to general opinion that as block length becomes longer, BP decoding performance becomes simply closer to ML decoding performance, before peak degradation, as block length becomes longer, BP decoding performance falls behind ML decoding performance more and after peak degradation, general opinion holds.
