Precambrian Jirisan gneiss complex suffered retrograde metamorphism ranging from granulite facies to the amphibolite facies and/or greenschist facies. Intrusive anorthositic rocks in gneiss complex are influenced by late metamorphism. Mafic mineral in anorthositic rock composed mainly of amphiboles, which can anticipate the information about metamorphic conditions and metamorphic facies. Amphiboles from anorthositic rock show subhedral to anhedral in shape and mostly blueish green and/or green in colour in plane polarized light. Some of brownish amphiboles show zonal texture with brownish to blueish green in color from core to rim. Reaction parts in clinopyroxene which exchange with amphibole. It suggests retrograde metamorphism and/or alteration. Amphiboles composing anorthositic rocks can be classified into two types depending on the size and occurrence of amphibole. The first type is microcrystalline amphibole occurring matrix [Group I: ferrohornblende]. The second type is amphibole with 1 mm or larger in size, which is usually occurred in the boundary between opaque mineral and plagioclase [Group II: ferropargasite]. Electron microscopic analyses base on the $Al^{vi}$ composition in amphiboles suggest that the metamorphic pressure of anorthositic rock was low with 5 kbar or less. Ti compositional range in amphibole and representing hornblende+ plagioclase+garnet+biotite+chlorite mineral assemblage suggest that metamorphic facies of anorthositic rock is in amphibolite facies.

The mammogram provides the way to observe detailed internal organization of breasts to radiologists for the early detection. This paper is mainly focused on efficiently detecting the Microcalcification's Region Of Interest(ROI)s. Breast cancers can be caused from either microcalcifications or masses. Microcalcifications are appeared in a digital mammogram as tiny dots that have a little higher gray levels than their surrounding pixels. We can roughly determine the area which possibly contain microcalifications. In general, it is very challenging to find all the microcalcifications in a digital mammogram, because they are similar to some tissue parts of a breast. To efficiently detect microcalcifications ROI, we used four sequential processes; preprocessing for breast area detection, modified multilevel thresholding, ROI selection using simple thresholding filters and final ROI selection with two stages of neural networks. The filtering process with boundary conditions removes easily-distinguishable tissues while keeping all microcalcifications so that it cleans the thresholded mammogram images and speeds up the later processing by the average of 86%. The first neural network shows the average of 96.66% recognition rate. The second neural network performs better by showing the average recognition rate 98.26%. By removing all tissues while keeping microcalcifications as much as possible, the next parts of a CAD system for detecting breast cancers can become much simpler.
This paper introduces SNUDM, an analysis program for Ratcliff's diffusion model, which has been one of the most important models in cognitive psychology over the past 35 years and which has come to occupy an important place in cognitive neuroscience in recent years. The analysis tool is designed with the basic principles of easy comprehension and simplicity in use. A diffusion process was programmed as the limit of a simple random walk in a manner resembling Ratcliff & Tuerlinckx(2002). The response time distribution of the model was constructed by simulating the time taken by a random walk until it reaches a threshold with small steps. The optimal parameter values in the model are found to be the smallest value of the chi-square values obtained by comparing the resulting distribution and the experimental data using Simplex method. For simplicity and ease of use, the input file used here is created as a file containing the quantile of the reaction time, the trials and other information. The number of participants and the number of conditions required for such work programs are given in a way that answers the question. Using this analysis tool, the experimental data of Ratcliff, Gomez, & McKoon(2004) were analyzed. We found the very similar pattern of parameter values to Ratcliff et al.(2004) found. When comparing DMAT, fast-dm and SNUDM with the generated data, we found that when the number of trials is small, SNUDM estimates the boundary parameter to a value similar to fast-dm and less than the DMAT. In addition, when the number of trials was large, it was confirmed that all three tools estimate parameters similarly.
A mathematical model was proposed to analyze the vibration of diaphragm, such as the contact lenses fitted on the eyes, being subjected to the external sinusoidal pressure. The model incorporates the differential equations and their numerical solution program, based on the wave equations. Turbo-C and graphic software, formulated to describe the dependence of the various parameters involved in the vibration. The model predicts the radial distribution of amplitude, frequency dependence of both average displacement amplitude and the power of diaphragm whose edge is being either simply supported or rigidly clamped in vibration. The effect of variables such as thickness, radius, damping coefficients on the vibration characteristics was illustrated by the computer simulation of the derived program. As the frequency of driving pressure increases above the certain value determined by the boundary conditions and parameters the wave shape or pattern changes from simple arc to belly or loops having double antinode. It seems that the effect of outer antinode progressively increases as the frequency increases. If this kind of phenomena occurs to the contact lens on the cornea in vivo, it may cause an abnormal correction power in the lenses or pull off the eye due the increased rise of outer part of the lens.
High speed steels (HSS) were used as cutting tools and wear parts, because of high strength, wear resistance, and hardness together with an appreciable toughness and fatigue resistance. Conventional manufacturing process for production of components with HSS was used by casting. The powder metallurgy techniques were currently developed due to second phase segregation of conventional process. The powder injection molding method (PIM) was received attention owing to shape without additional processes. The experimental specimens were manufactured with T42 HSS powders (59 vol%) and polymer (41 vol%). The metal powders were prealloyed water-atomised T42 HSS. The green parts were solvent debinded in normal n-Hexane at $60^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours and thermal debinded at $N_2-H_2$ mixed gas atmosphere for 14 hours. Specimens were sintered in $N_2$, $H_2$ gas atmosphere and vacuum condition between 1200 and $1320^{\circ}C$. In result, polymer degradation temperatures about optimum conditions were found at $250^{\circ}C$ and $480^{\circ}C$. After sintering at $N_2$ gas atmosphere, maximum hardness of 310Hv was observed at $1280^{\circ}C$. Fine and well dispersed carbide were observed at this condition. But relative density was under 90%. When sintering at $H_2$ gas atmosphere, relative density was observed to 94.5% at $1200^{\circ}C$. However, the low hardness was obtained due to decarbonization by hydrogen. In case of sintering at the vacuum of $10^{-5}$ torr at temperature of $1240^{\circ}C$, full density and 550Hv hardness were obtained without precipitation of MC and $M_6C$ in grain boundary.

In the Mexico City Metropolitan Area (MCMA), ozone ($O_3$) concentration is still higher than in other urban areas in developed countries. In order to reveal the current state of photochemical air pollution and to provide data for validation of chemical transport models, vertical profiles of meteorological parameters and ozone concentrations were measured by ozonesonde in two field campaigns: the first one, during the change of season from wet to dry-cold (November 2011) and the second during the dry-warm season (March 2012). Unlike previous similar field campaigns, ozonesonde was launched twice daily. The observation data were used to analyze the production and distribution of ozone in the convective boundary layer. The observation days covered a wide range of meteorological conditions, and various profiles were obtained. The evolution of the mixing layer (ML) height was analyzed, revealing that ML evolution was faster during daytime in March 2012 than in November 2011. On a day in November 2011, the early-morning strong wind and the resulting vertical mixing was observed to have brought the high-ozone-concentration air-mass to the ground and caused relatively high surface ozone concentration in the morning. The amount of produced ozone in the MCMA was estimated by taking the difference between the two profiles on each day. In addition to the well-known positive correlation between daily maximum temperature and ozone production, effect of the ML height and wind stagnation was identified for a day in March 2012 when the maximum ground-level ozone concentration was observed during the two field campaigns. The relatively low ventilation coefficient in the morning and the relatively high value in the afternoon on this day implied efficient accumulation of the $O_3$ precursors and rapid production of $O_3$ in the ML.
Air pollution trends in Japan between 1970 and 2012 were analyzed, and the impact of air pollution countermeasures was evaluated. Concentrations of CO decreased from 1970 to 2012, and in 2012, the Japanese environmental quality standard (EQS) for CO was satisfied. Concentrations of $SO_2$ dropped markedly in the 1970s, owing to use of desulfurization technologies and low-sulfur heavy oil. Major reductions in the sulfur content of diesel fuel in the 1990s resulted in further decreases of $SO_2$ levels. In 2012, the EQS for $SO_2$ was satisfied at most air quality monitoring stations. Concentrations of $NO_2$ decreased from 1970 to 1985, but increased from 1985 to 1995. After 1995, $NO_2$ concentrations decreased, especially after 2006. In 2012, the EQS for $NO_2$ was satisfied at most air quality monitoring stations, except those alongside roads. The annual mean for the daily maximum concentrations of photochemical oxidants (OX) increased from 1980 to 2010, but after 2006, the $98^{th}$ percentile values of the OX concentrations decreased. In 2012, the EQS for OX was not satisfied at most air quality monitoring stations. Non-methane hydrocarbon (NMHC) concentrations generally decreased from 1976 to 2012. In 2011, NMHC concentrations near roads and in the general environment were nearly the same. The concentration of suspended particulate matter (SPM) generally decreased. In 2011, the EQS for SPM was satisfied at 69.2% of ambient air monitoring stations, and 72.9% of roadside air-monitoring stations. Impacts from mineral dust from continental Asia were especially pronounced in the western part of Japan in spring, and year-round variation was large. The concentration of $PM_{2.5}$ generally decreased, but the EQS for $PM_{2.5}$ is still not satisfied. The air pollution trends were closely synchronized with promulgation of regulations designed to limit pollutant emissions. Trans-boundary OX and $PM_{2.5}$ has become a big issue which contains global warming chemical species such as ozone and black carbon (so called SLCP: Short Lived Climate Pollutants). Cobeneficial reduction approach for these pollutants will be important to improve both in regional and global atmospheric environmental conditions.
Optimal Trajectory Correction Maneuver (TCM) design algorithm has been developed using the B-plane targeting method for future Korean Mars missions. For every-mission phase, trajectory informations can also be obtained using this developed algorithms which are essential to design optimal TCM strategy. The information were computed under minimum requiring perturbations to design Mars missions. Spacecraft can not be reached at designed aim point because of unexpected trajectory errors, caused by many perturbations and errors due to operating impulsive maneuvers during the cruising phase of missions. To maintain spacecraft's appropriate trajectory and deliver it to the designed aim point, B-plane targeting techniques are needed. A software NPSOL is used to solve this optimization problem, with the performance index of minimizing total amount of TCM's magnitude. And also executing time of maneuvers on be controlled for the user defined maneuver number $(1\~5)$ of TCMs. The constraints, the Mars arrival B-plane boundary conditions, are formulated for the problem. Results of this work show the ability to design and analyze overall Mars missions, from the Earth launch phase to Mars arrival phase including capture orbit status for future Korean Mars missions
This paper describes the moment capacity of flexural members with local buckling based on a series of FE and experiment results. Thin-walled flexural members undergo local, lateral-torsional, or interactive buckling according to the section geometries and lateral boundary conditions. Flexural members with large width-to-thickness ratios in the flanges or the web may undergo local buckling before lateral-torsional buckling. Local buckling has a negative effect on the flexural strength based on the lateral-torsional buckling of flexural members. This phenomenon should be considered in the estimation of the flexural strength of thin-walled sections. Flexural members with various width-to-thickness ratios in their flanges and web were analyzed. Initial imperfections in the local buckling mode, and residual stresses, were included in the FE analyses. Simple bending moment formulae for flexural members were proposed based on the FE and test results to account for local and lateral-torsional buckling. The proposed bending moment formulae for the thin-walled flexural members in the Direct Strength Method use the empirical strength formula and the grosssection modulus. The ultimate flexural strengths predicted by the proposed moment formulae were compared with the AISC (2005), Eurocode3 (2003), and Korean Highway Bridge Design Specifications (2010). The comparison showed that the proposed bending moment formulae can reasonably predict the ultimate moment capacity of thin-walled flexural members.
The use of thin plate increases due to the need for light weight in large ship. Thin plate is easily distorted and has residual stress by welding heat. Therefore, the thin plate should be carefully joined to minimize the welding deformation which costs time and money for repair. For one effort to reduce welding deformation, it is very useful to predict welding deformation before welding execution. There are two methods to analyze welding deformation. One is simple linear analysis. The other is nonlinear analysis. The simple linear analysis is elastic analysis using the equivalent load method or inherent strain method from welding experiments. The nonlinear analysis is thermo-elastic analysis which gives consideration to the nonlinearity of material dependent on temperature and time, welding current, voltage, speed, sequence and constraint. In this study, the welding deformation is analyzed by using thermo-elastic method for PCTC(Pure Car and Truck Carrier) which carries cars and trucks. PCTC uses thin plates of 6mm thickness which is susceptible to welding heat. The analysis dimension is 19,200mm(length) * 13,825mm(width) * 376mm(height). MARC and MENTAT are used as pre and post processor and solver. The boundary conditions are based on the real situation in shipyard. The simulations contain convection and gravity. The material of the thin block is mild steel with $235N/mm^2$ yield strength. Its nonlinearity of conductivity, specific heat, Young's modulus and yield strength is applied in simulations. Welding is done in two pass. First pass lasts 2,100 second, then it rests for 900 second, then second pass lasts 2,100 second and then it rests for 20,000 second. The displacement at 0 sec is caused by its own weight. It is maximum 19mm at the free side. The welding line expands, shrinks during welding and finally experiences shrinkage. It results in angular distortion of thin block. Final maximum displacement, 17mm occurs around welding line. The maximum residual stress happens at the welding line, where the stress is above the yield strength. Also, the maximum equivalent plastic strain occurs at the welding line. The plastic strain of first pass is more than that of second pass. The flatness of plate in longitudinal direction is calculated in parallel with the direction of girder and compared with deformation standard of ${\pm}15mm$. Calculated value is within the standard range. The flatness of plate in transverse direction is calculated in perpendicular to the direction of girder and compared with deformation standard of ${\pm}6mm$. It satisfies the standard. Buckle of plate is calculated between each longitudinal and compared with the deformation standard. All buckle value is within the standard range of ${\pm}6mm$.
