  • Geodetic surveying using precise GPS equipment are used without analysis with a statistical verification of GPS observed value and it was preformed by necessity to integration projection of digital topographic map and nautical Chart for integration geographic information system construction. The purpose of this study proposes method that improve accuracy of GPS observed value and direction that integrally manage digital topographic map and electronic nautical chart in analyzing the boundary line error between digital topographic map and nautical Chart. For improvement of the precision of GPS observed value, the author studied precision-analysis of GPS observed value by geometric strength and variance factor in 3 control points used in GPS network adjustment. This study compare the whole boundary point error When producing EDM measurement using this GPS observation results and setting digital topographic map and nautical chart by these boundary.

  • The time-domain solution from the Kirchhoff integral equation for an exterior problem is not unique at certain eigen-frequencies associated with the fictitious internal modes as happening in frequency-domain analysis. One of the solution methods is the CHIEF (Combined Helmholtz Integral Equation Formulation) approach, which is based on employing additional zero-pressure constraints at some interior points inside the body. Although this method has been widely used in frequency-domain boundary element method due to its simplicity, it was not used in time-domain analysis. In this work, the CHIEF approach is formulated appropriately for time-domain acoustic boundary element method by constraining the unknown surface pressure distribution at the current time, which was obtained by setting the pressure at the interior point to be zero considering the shortest retarded time between boundary nodes and interior point. Sound radiation of a pulsating sphere was used as a test example. By applying the CHIEF method, the low-order fictitious modes could be damped down satisfactorily, thus solving the non-uniqueness problem. However, it was observed that the instability due to high-order fictitious modes, which were beyond the effective frequency, was increased.

  • Variable Geometry System (VGS) is widely applied to the nozzle vane for the radial inflow turbine constituting automotive turbochargers for the purpose of optimizing the power output at each operating condition. In order to improve the performance of radial turbines with VGS, it is necessary to clarify the influences of the setting angle of nozzle vane on the internal flow of radial turbine. However, the experimental measurements are considered to be difficult for the flow in radial turbines because of the small size and the high rotational speed. In the present study, the numerical calculations were carried out for the flow in the radial turbine at three operating conditions by applying the corresponding nozzle vane exit angles, which were set up in the experimental study, as the inlet boundary condition. The numerical results revealed the characteristic flow behaviors at each operating condition.

  • The chloride ion attack on the passive iron oxide layer of reinforcement steel embedded in concrete under variable temperature environment is influenced by several parameters and some of them still need to be further investigated in more detail. Different school of thoughts exist between past researchers and the data is limited in the high temperature and high chloride concentration range which is necessary with regards to setting boundary conditions for enhancement of tafel diagram model presented in this research. The objective of this paper is to investigate the detrimental coupled effects of chloride and temperature on corrosion of reinforced concrete structures in the high range by incorporating classical Tafel diagram chloride induced corrosion model and laboratory controlled experimental non-linear effect of temperature on corrosion of rebar embedded in concrete.

  • In this paper, a design and estimation procedure for the stochastically dependent nonstationary multiple acceptance sampling plans is developed. At first, the rough-cut acceptance and rejection numbers are given as an initial solution from the corresponding sequential sampling plan. A Monte-Carlo algorithm is used to find the acceptance and rejection probabilities of a lot. The conditional probability formula for a sample path is found. The acceptance and rejection probabilities are found when a decision boundary is given. Several decision criteria and the design procedure to select optimal plans are suggested. The formula for measuring performance of these sampling plans is developed. Type I and II error probabilities are also estimated. As a special case, by setting the stage size as 1 in a dependent sampling plan, a sequential sampling plan satisfying type I and II error probabilities is more accurate and a smaller average sample number can be found. In a numerical example, a Polya dependent process is examined. The sampling performances are shown to compare the selection scheme and the effect of the change of the dependency factor.

  • Mechanical behavior of copper nanowire is investigated. An FCC nanowire model composed of 1,408 atoms is used for MD simulation. Simulations are performed within NVT ensemble setting without periodic boundary conditions. $Nos\acute{e}-Poincar\acute{e}$ MD algorithm is employed to guarantee preservation of Hamiltonian and temperature. Numerical tensile tests of Nanowire are carried out with constant strain rate. Additionally, temperature and strain rate effects are considered. Stress-strain curve is constructed from the calculated Cauchy stresses and specified strain values. In (22,4,4) Copper nanowire, non-linear behavior appears around ${\epsilon}\simeq0.09.$ At this instance, starting of structural reorientations are observed. At the onset of reorientation, the modulus characteristics are also investigated.

  • The major goal of this paper is to develop a practically implemental radial basis function (RBF) neural network based multi-user detector (MUD) for direct sequence (DS)-CDMA system. This work is expected to provide an efficient solution for RBF based MUD by quickly setting up the proper number of RBF centers and their locations required in training. The basic idea in this research is to estimate all the possible RBF centers by using supervised ${\kappa-means$ clustering technique, and select the only centers which locate near seemingly decision boundary between centers, and reduce further by grouping the some of centers adjacent each other. Therefore, it reduces the computational burden for finding the proper number of RBF centers and their locations in the existing RBF based MUD, and ultimately, make its implementation practical.

  • In this paper, we have studied for the current control method with high accuracy for the high power LED driver that is necessary to the lighting system using LEDs. The control performance of LED driver can be improved with the adjustment of current control boundary by introducing D/A converters for setting high-offset and low-offset. And microprocessor (ATmega128) and D/A converter with 8 bits resolution are used in the proposed driver so that LED's illumination can be remotely controlled by serial communication on the spot or by key input. In the results of performance tests, we confirmed that the proposed control method is superior to the conventional control method using op-amps.

  • In a fan design, CFD analysis, which is very useful for mechanical design relating to the heat and fluid dynamics, is one of the most popular tools. However, since the CFD analysis is conventionally carried out with the constant fan speed condition, the speed change, induced by the air flow rate and motor characteristics, is hardly modeled. And, consequently, the remarkable difference exist between analysis and experimental results. In this paper, we has proposed a method of setting the varying fan speed as a boundary condition considering air flow rate and motor torque-speed characteristics. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by comparison with experimental results.
