($NiAl+Ni_3Al$) 2상 합금의 미세 조직과 기계적 특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Two-Phase)

  • The Ni-Al intermetallic compound that has the greatest potential to be commercialized shows the high ductility at room temperature with the addition of boron, but has extremely low ductility at high temperature and oxidation environment. On this research work, the changes of microstructure and compressive fracture properties were studied in ($NiAl+Ni_3Al$) two-phase alloys. The precipitation behavior of $Ni_3Al$ after solution treatment at $1300^\circC$ for 14hrs and aging treatment at $800^{\circ}C$ for 14hrs was varied with Al content in ($NiAl+Ni_3Al$) two-phase alloys. These microstructure could be modified dramatically by suitable heat treatments. Martensite or martensite plus $Ni_3Al$ microstructure was obtained upon oil quenching from $1300^\circC$. Aging of Martensite at $800^\circC$ resulted in the $Ni_3Al$ plus NiAl phase. The compressive fracture strength and compressive fracture strain were improved by the $Ni_3Al$ plus NiAl phase mixtures at room temperature and $1100^\circC$. Microcracks are observed mostly in the region of NiAl and the interface of $NiAl-Ni_3Al$ phase after compressive test at room temperature. In the case of high temperature compressive test, microcracks are formed in the region of $Ni_3Al$ phase.

Performance evaluation of METAMIC neutron absorber in spent fuel storage rack

  • High-density spent fuel (SF) storage racks have been installed to increase SF pool capacity. In these SF racks, neutron absorber materials were placed between fuel assemblies allowing the storage of fuel assemblies in close proximity to one another. The purpose of the neutron absorber materials is to preclude neutronic coupling between adjacent fuel assemblies and to maintain the fuel in a subcritical storage condition. METAMIC neutron absorber has been used in high-density storage racks. But, neutron absorber materials can be subject to severe conditions including long-term exposure to gamma radiation and neutron radiation. Recently, some of them have experienced degradation, such as white spots on the surface. Under these conditions, the material must continue to serve its intended function of absorbing neutrons. For the first time in Korea, this article uses a neutron attenuation test to examine the performance of METAMIC surveillance coupons. Also, scanning electron microscope analysis was carried out to verify the white spots that were detected on the surface of METAMIC. In the neutron attenuation test, there was no significant sign of boron loss in most of the METAMIC coupons, but the coupon with white spots had relatively less B-10 content than the others. In the scanning electron microscope analysis, corrosion material was detected in all METAMIC coupons. Especially, it was confirmed that the coupon with white spots contains much more corrosion material than the others.

Mechanism of intragranular ferrite formation in heat-affected zone of titanium killed steel

  • A lot of work is carried out concerning to acicular ferrite formation in the weld metal of high strength and low-alloy steel. Those results are suggesting that oxides that contain titanium elements provides nucleation site of intragranular ferrite, referred as acicular ferrite. Thus, when intragranular ferrite is expected to form in heat-affected zone, oxide containing titanium element should be formed in the steel. However, normal steel is deoxidized by using aluminum element (Al-killed steel) with little oxygen content. It means almost oxygen is deoxidized with aluminum elements. In the present work, in order to form the acicular ferrite in the heat affected zone, with the same concept in the case of weld metal, the steel deoxidized with titanium element (titanium killed-steel) is prepared and the acicular ferrite formation is observed in detail by using laser-conforcal microscopy technique. The confocal technique makes it possible that the morphological change along the phase transformation from austenite to ferrite is in-situ tracked. Thus, the inclusion that stimulated the ferrite nucleation could be directly selected from the observed images, in the HAZ of the Ti-killed steel. The chemical composition of the selected inclusion is analyzed and the nucleation potential is discussed by changing the nucleation site with boron element. The potency for the ferrite nucleation is summarized and the existence of effective and ineffective manganese sulfide for nucleation is made clear.

Neutronics design of VVER-1000 fuel assembly with burnable poison particles

  • This paper presents neutronics design of VVER-1000 fuel assembly using burnable poison particles (BPPs) for controlling excess reactivity and pin-wise power distribution. The advantage of using BPPs is that the thermal conductivity of BPP-dispersed fuel pin could be improved. Numerical calculations have been conducted for optimizing the BPP parameters using the MVP code and the JENDL-3.3 data library. The results show that by using $Gd_2O_3$ particles with the diameter of $60{\mu}m$ and the packing fraction of 5%, the burnup reactivity curve and pin-wise power distribution are obtained approximately that of the reference design. To minimize power peaking factor (PPF), total BP amount has been distributed in a larger number of fuel rods. Optimization has been conducted for the number of BPP-dispersed rods, their distribution, BPP diameter and packing fraction. Two models of assembly consisting of 18 BPP-dispersed rods have been selected. The diameter of $300{\mu}m$ and the packing fraction of 3.33% were determined so that the burnup reactivity curve is approximate that of the reference one, while the PPF can be decreased from 1.167 to 1.105 and 1.113, respectively. Application of BPPs for compensating the reduction of soluble boron content to 50% and 0% is also investigated.

MODIFICATION OF INITIALLY GROWN BN LAYERS BY POST-N$^{+}$ IMPLANTATION

  • BN films with a high content of cubic phase has been deposited by a variety of techniques. It is well known that c-BN films grow with a unique microstructure consisting of $sp^2$ and $sp^{3-}$ bonded layers. Because of existence of the initially grown $sp^{2-}$ /bonded layer, BN films are not adhesive to the substrates. In this study, post-N$^{+ }$ / implantation was applied to improve the adhesion of the films. A Monte Carlo program TAMIX was used to simulate this modification process. The simulation showed nitrogen concentration profile at $1200\AA$ in depth in case of 50keV -implantation energy. FTIR spectra of the $N^{+}$ implanted specimens demonstrated a strong change of absorption band at 1380 cm$^{ -1 }$The films were also investigated by HRTEM. From these results, it is concluded that the post ion implantation could be an effective technique which improves the adhesion between BN film and substrate.

석탄회 시용이 연초 생육과 토양중 중금속 함량에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Application of Fly Ash on Tobacco Growth and on Accumulation of Heavy Metal in Soil)

  • Pot experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of fly ash on growth responses and on accumulation of the heavy metals in soil. Two kinds of fly ash, anthracite and bituminous coal, were treated with different levels of 0, 0.4, 0.8, and 1.2 kg/pot(20L). Tobacco growth was better by application of fly ash than that by the control. However, the early stage of growth by application of bituminous coal, 1.2 kg/pot, was decreased due to the boron toxicity occurred by fly ash. Generally, tobacco yield was significantly increased with applying fly ash, showing the highest yield at 1.2 kg/pot for anthracite and at 0.8 kg/pot for bituminous coal. The content of total nitrogen in leaves was higher with fly ash than that of the control, while the content of calcium in leaves was low, Contents of heavy metal and the other minerals were not significantly different between the control and the treatment of fly ash. Soil pH after experiment was linearly increased with application level of fly ash, indicating that the application of bituminous coal was more effective than that of anthracite. Contents of available phosphate, exchangeable $Ca^{2+}$+ and $Mg^{2+}$ in soil were increased by application of fly ash, especially with bituminous coal. Contents of Cu, Cr, and Ni were increased with application level of bituminous coati even if the contents were still lower than critical levels for farming land. The other heavy metals were similar between the control and the application of fly ash.

분무열분해 공정을 이용하여 스트론튬 알루미네이트 녹색 형광체의 합성 및 발광 특성 개선 (Synthesis and Luminescence Enhancement of Strontium Aluminate Green Phosphor via Spray Pyrolysis)

  • 분무열분해 공정을 이용하여 $SrAl_2O_4:Eu$ 녹색 형광체를 제조함에 있어 붕소의 치환, 유기첨가제 및 건조 조절제의 사용에 따른 발광 특성을 조사하였다. Al 자리에 붕소를 치환시켜 줌으로써 결정상은 순수해지고 발광강도는 크게 향상됨을 확인하였다. 휘도 측면에서 붕소의 함량은 약 1 at%로 하는 것이 가장 바람직하였다. 유기첨가제의 함량 변화에 따른 $Sr_{0.9}Al_{1.98}B_{0.02}O_4:Eu_{0.1}$ 형광체의 휘도 변화를 조사한 결과 0.2M을 사용했을 때 가장 높은 휘도를 얻었다. 유기첨가제와 함께 건조 조절제로 DMF 0.5M을 함께 사용함으로써 $Sr_{0.9}Al_{1.98}B_{0.02}O_4:Eu_{0.1}$ 형광체의 휘도는 약 172% 향상되었다. XRD 분석 결과에 의하면 사용한 유기첨가제와 DMF의 사용은 $Sr_{0.9}Al_{1.98}B_{0.02}O_4:Eu_{0.1}$ 형광체의 결정상 변화 없이 결정성을 크게 향상시켰다. 유기 첨가제만을 사용할 경우 형광체의 표면적은 커졌지만 DMF를 함께 사용함으로써 현저히 줄어들었다. 따라서 유기첨가제와 DMF를 동시에 사용하여 합성한 형광체의 휘도가 크게 향상된 것은 결정성 증가와 표면적 감소에 기인한 것이라고 결론지었다.

석탄회와 폐석고 혼합제재에 의한 벼 수량 증대 및 토양의 이화학성 개선 (Improving Rice Productivity and Soil Quality by Coal Ash-Phosphogypsum Mixture Application)

  • 유효규산을 다량 함유하고 있는 알카리성 석탄회를 농업적으로 활용하고자 산성의 인산석고와 50:50으로 혼합하여 토양 개량제를 제조하였다. 혼합제재의 적정 시용량과 토양의 이화학적 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 평택통의 논토양에 혼합제재를 0, 20, 40, $60Mg\;ha^{-1}$의 4 수준으로 처리하여 벼 재배시험을 실시하였다. 혼합제재 시용량이 증가함에 따라 벼의 수량성은 증가하여 약 $30Mg\;ha^{-1}$ 처리시 최고수량(Yield Index 109)을 획득할 수 있었다. 혼합제재 시용에 따른 백미와 토양내 중금속 함량의 증가는 발생되지 않았으며, 토양의 pH 향상, 그리고 유효 규산 및 인산함량 및 치환성 칼슘함량을 증가시켜 토양 비옥도 개선에 효과가 있었다. 벼 재배과정 중 혼합제재를 최고 $60Mg\;ha^{-1}$ 처리시 토양내 유효붕소 함량은 최고 $1.42mg\;B\;kg^{-1}$ 까지 증가하였으나, 생육기간 중 붕소독성은 발생되지 않았다. 이상의 결과로부터 석탄회와 인산석고의 50:50 혼합제재는 토양개량제로서 활용성이 대단히 높은 것으로 평가된다.

붕소, 칼슘, 규소의 복합 엽면시비가 방울토마토의 품질과 MAP 조건에서 저장성에 미치는 영향 (Combined Foliar Spray of Boron, Calcium, and Silicon can Influence Quality and Shelf Life of Cherry Tomato in Modified Atmosphere Packaging)

  • 방울토마토의 수경재배 중 붕소+칼슘+규소 및 칼슘+규소의 복합 엽면시비가 수확 후 품질과 MAP 저장 중 저장성에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 본 연구를 실시하였다. 엽면시비한 방울 토마토('Unicorn')는 반숙과 상태에서 수확하여 산소투과성 필름으로 포장한 $5^{\circ}C$, $11^{\circ}C$, 그리고 $24^{\circ}C$에서 25일, 15일, 10일간 저장하였다. 붕소+칼슘+규소 복합처리한 방울토마토가 3가지 저장온도 모두에서 호흡과 에틸렌 발생이 억제되어 MAP 저장중 가장 낮은 생체중 감소와 가장 높은 외관상 품질을 보였다. 수확 후 조사한 방울토마토의 경도, 산도, 비타민 C 함량은 붕소+칼슘+규소 복합처리에서 가장 높았으며, 3가지 온도 모두에서 MAP 저장 후에도 모두 높게 유지되었다. 그러나 과피색, 라이코펜 함량과 당도는 수확 후에는 엽면시비 처리로 차이가 없었으나, 3가지 온도 모두 붕소+칼슘+규소 복합처리에서 가장 낮은 수치를 보였다. 이상의 결과로 볼 때 붕소+칼슘+규소 복합처리는 방울토마토의 수확후 생리 작용을 억제하고 경도, 산도, 비타민 C 함량을 높여 저장성을 향상시키는 것으로 판단되었다.

유채에 대한 석회 및 퇴비시용과 붕소의 효과 (The Effect of Boron on Rape with Application of Lime and Compost)

  • 우리나라에서 유채가 재배되고 있는 지대의 사질계 밭토양과 식질계 이작답토양에서 유채에 대한 B 효과를 조사하고 석회와 퇴비를 병용했을 때 B 효과를 검토하고저 포장시험을 하였으며 개화기 때 채취한 식물체를 분석하여 이들 결과를 검토한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. B 효과는 두 토양에서 다 현저하였는데 특히 토양중 B 함량이 낮은 사질계토양에서 훨씬 현저하였다. 2. 붕사 20kg/ha 시용으로서 증수가능한 정도가지 수량을 올렸고 40kg/ha에서는 식물체 흡수량은 많았으나 증수에 반영되지 않았다. 3. 식질답토양에서와 같이 산성이었든(pH 5.4) 토양에서는 석회를 시용함으로서 B 효과를 충분히 발휘 할 수 있었다. 4. 산성토양을 중화할 정도의 소량의 석회를 시용함으로서 B 결핍증을 더 악화시키거나 식물체중의 B 함량을 떨어뜨리지는 않았으며 오히려 석회를 시용함으로서 생육을 양호하게 하였다. 5. Ca/B율과 수량과는 고도로 유의한 부상관관계 ($r=-0.74^{**}$)가 있었으나 결핍증을 나타내는 한계 Ca/B율은 설정하기 어려웠다. 6. B는 무석회구에서도 Ca의 흡수를 현저히 증가시켰다. 7. 퇴비 시용은 B공급에 전연 영향을 주지 못했고 K 흡수를 약간 증가시키는 경향이었으나 전체적으로 그 효과는 문제시 되지 않았다.
