A Study on Advance Rate under the Operating Conditions of EPB Shield TBM Based on TBM Operation Data (현장 굴진자료 분석에 의한 토압식 쉴드 TBM의 운전조건과 굴진속도 연구)

  • TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) tunnel should be carry out with the adopted machine until the end of excavation because of impossibility of replacement or modification of machine. Observation of the face of the tunnel is difficult, especially in EPB(Earth Pressure Balance) shield TBM, predict changes in the ground condition with analyzing data, collected during the excavation, and it should be reflected in construction. Until recently, subjects of studies on TBM are mainly the determination of machine and the development of advance rate prediction model, according to the characteristics of ground which is the target of excavation. However, study focused on the estimation of ground conditions and the improvement in operational methods using excavation data of TBM equipment, the principal of the excavation, has been done not so much. This study examine the variances in advance rate depending on changes in operating conditions and evaluate the optimal operating conditions of adopt machine, using working data obtained from EPB shield TBM project. The result of this study is suggested as follows. First, cutter head RPM and total thrust force are biggest influences on advance rate, Second, it is recommended for proper advance rate that total thrust force is controlled while optimum cutter head RPM is kept, Third, according to the increasing trend of total thrust force, the changes in ground conditions can be predicted, the appropriate operating conditions can be determined.

A study on the Heat Transfer Performance according to Ground Heat Exchanger Types (지중열교환기의 종류에 따른 열전달 성능에 관한 연구)

  • Generally, ground-source heat pump (GSHP) systems have a higher performance than conventional air-source systems. However, the major fault of GSHP systems is their expensive boring costs. Therefore, it is important issue that to reduce initial cost and ensure stability of system through accurate prediction of the heat extraction and injection rates of the ground heat exchanger. Conventional analysis methods employed by line source theory are used to predict heat transfer rate between ground heat exchanger and soil. Shape of ground heat exchanger was simplified by equivalent diameter model, but these methods do not accurately reflect the heat transfer characteristics according to the heat exchanger geometry. In this study, a numerical model that combines a user subroutine module that calculates circulation water conditions in the ground heat exchanger and FEFLOW program which can simulate heat/moisture transfer in the soil, is developed. Heat transfer performance was evaluated for 3 different types ground heat exchanger(U-tube, Double U-tube, Coaxial).

A Study on the Precision Hole Machiningof Pre Hardened Mould Steel (프리하든 금형강의 정밀 홀 가공에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, precision processing is carried out for the pre hardened steel(HRC 54), which is one of injection mould materials. Processing characteristics are estimated according to the number of tool cutting blade and roundness is observed by the 3-Dimensional measuring machine. The surface roughness affected by the wire electric discharge machining are measured. Cutting component force of STAVOX is the highest in condition of 2F processing because load per a blade of cutting tool is high. Especially, the difference in Fz is over 20N by cutting load. The slower spindle rotation speed and tool feed rate are, the better cutting component force is. The roundness of hole processed in condition of 4F is good because feed rate is able to be fast. When rotation speed is increased, the surface roughness is decreased. The surface roughness acquired in condition of 2F processing is higher about 50% than 4F processing.

  • The coastline of the Choa Phraya Rivermouth in the Upper Gulf of Thailand has been changed drastically. The western side especially at Ban Laem Sing was eroded for 400 meter in 26 years or with the rate of 15 meter per year on the average. The Metropolitan Electricity Authority has granted five years research project to us to study the efficiency of the electric pole fence as a mean to reduce the wave force and increase sedimentation rate inside for mangrove replantation. If the method works efficiently, it will be used to reclaim the coastal land loss in other areas in Thailand. The project was done since 2005 after the fence was constructed completely in October 2005. The oceanographic surveys were conducted before and after the construction in northeast monsoon season to study the impact of physical oceanographic forces on the coastline change. The sedimentation rates were measured each month. It is rather low about 2 cm/month. The subsiding rate from the load of deltaic sediment and groundwater withdraw using boring data is about 30 mm/year. The cumulative sinking rate is 55.8 cm from 1978 to 1995. We have tried to design the method of mangrove plantation in this area. The remote sensing data such as LANDSAT and aerial photos from 1987 to 2002 for 15 years were used to compute the rate of coastline change at each 50 m section along the western side of the rivermouth.

  • Cases of applying game in the medical area are increasing thesedays. This game has been developed to prevent disease in self-nervous system through the control of respiration after monitoring the mental stress and physical stress from the heart rate variability (HRV) of the game user. The game is a kind of a stress relaxation program (SRP) designed not to avoid boring or rejecting mind of users by traditional simple training of continuous repetition, but to increase interaction which is a unique feature of games.

  • In this study, a machine learning method was proposed to use in predicting optimal replacement period of shield TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) disc cutter. To do this, a large dataset of ground condition, disc cutter replacement records and TBM excavation-related data, collected from a shield TBM tunnel site in Korea, was built and they were used to construct a disc cutter replacement period prediction model using a machine learning algorithm, SVM (Support Vector Machine) and to assess the performance of the model. The results showed that the performance of RBF (Radial Basis Function) SVM is the best among a total of three SVM classification functions (80% accuracy and 10% error rate on average). When compared between ground types, the more disc cutter replacement data existed, the better prediction results were obtained. From this results, it is expected that machine learning methods become very popularly used in practice in near future as more data is accumulated and the machine learning models continue to be fine-tuned.

STUDIES ON THE MORTALITY OF THE YOUNG BIVALVES, MERETRIX LUSORIA (1) Boring Rates of Drills on the Young Bivalve, Meretrix lusoria (대합 Meretrix lusoria 치패의 폐사에 관한 연구 (1) 대합치패의 천공복족류 Neverita didyma, Natica severa에 의한 천공률에 관하여)

  • 1. This paper deals with the natural mortality of the early young bivalve, Meretrix lusoria, (less than 13mm in shell length) and the perforations bored in the bivalve by bering snails, Neverita didyma and Natica severa. The investigation was carried out in the Kunsan area and in the laboratory from May to October of 1968. 2. The natural mortality of the field population during this period was $12.1\%$ and among this number $38.1\%$ were drilled by boring snails. 3. The common species of the Naticid gastropods, boring snails-Neverite didyma and Natice severa - are encountered in the habitat of M. lusoria. The perforations drilled by these species were broadly bevelled. 4. The location of the holes on the valves varied widely, while most of holes on the valves were located at a relatively definite umbo position. 5. The inner and outer diameters of the holes varied in proportion to the shell length of the clam; each ranging in shell length from 1 to 3mm, 3 to 6mm, and 6 to 13mm, and the outer diameters were 0.4-0.5mm, 0.7-0.9mm and 0.9-1.2mm. On the other hand, the ratio of the inner and outer diameters differed in proportion to the shell length of the clam. 6. Predation rates of Neverita didyma was much greater at night than during the day at room temperature. An average of 1.7 young clams was drilled and consumed, per snail, per day. This rate was greater than that of the Natica severa. 7 Predation rates varied in proportion to the shell length of the clam and the shell height of the snails.

  • The study was initiated to investigate the nature of varietal resistance to the rice stem borer (Chilo suppressalis WALKER), specially the rotation of the resistance to the silica and nitrogen content of the host Plants. 1. The body freight of the larvae, reared on the stem of the various varieties of rice plants, when weighed at the age of 25 days old, showed great variation, and ranged from 21.24 mgrs. to 45.77 mgrs. depending on the used varieties of tile rice plants. And generally the varieties of Indica types were showed greater body weight than that of Japonica types in this experiments. 2. The positive correlation coefficients of percent survivals to body weight, developement, oviposition preference and rate of damage to host plants were significant, and consequently the percent survival could be used as a criteria of resistance. 3. The content of silica in the host plants was significantly correlated with both the degree of boring on the leaf and attractovemess of larvae, and the total nitrogen content of plants showed significant positive correlation coefficient with larval attractivenes, but not significant with the degree of boring on the leaf. 4. Since the attractiveness and boring manner were significantyly correlated to resistance criteria of rice plant to the pest, it could be considered that the resistance is the results of chain reaction of the factors mentioned above.

  • The gundrill is capable of machining for having large length to diameter ratio in single pass. The techniques of gundrill and gun boring began developing in the late 18th century with the need for more accurate bores in rifle, cannon, machinery part and marine part etc. The main feature of the gun drilling provides a stabilizing cutting force resultant necessary for self guidance of the drill head. A study of the accuracy and surface finish of holes produced would reveal quite useful information regarding the process. The thesis deals with the experimental results obtained during gun drilling on marine part materials for different machining conditions.

  • The term "deep holes" is used to describe the machining of holes with a relatively large length to diameter ratio. The main feature of BTA deep hole drilling is the stabilization of cutting force necessary for the self guidance of the drill head. An additional feature is the cutting tool edges that are unsymmetrically placed on the drill head. There is an increasing necessity to predict the hole geometry and other dynamic stability behavior of deep hole drilling guidance. In this study, the effects of BTA deep hole drilling conditions on the hole profile machined piece are analyzed using domain analysis technique. The profile of deep hole drilled work piece is related to cutting speed, feed rate, chip flow, tool wear, and so on. This study deals with the experimental results obtained during the BTA drilling on SM45C, SM55C carbon steels and SCM440 steels under various cutting conditions, and these results are compared with analytical evaluations.aluations.
