  • This paper presents a novel power factor corrected(PFC) single-stage AC/DC half-bridge converter, which features discontinuous conduction mode(DCM) and soft-switching. The reduced conduction losses are achieved by the employment of a novel powder factor correction circuitry, instead of the conventional configuration composed of a front-end rectifier followed by a boost converter. To identify the validity of the proposed converter, simulated results of 500[W] converter with 100[V] input voltage and 50[V]output voltage are presented.

  • Machine learning is a technique for training computers to be used in classification or forecasting. Among the various types, support vector machine (SVM) is a fast and reliable machine learning mechanism. In this paper, we evaluate the stock price predictability of SVM based on financial statements, through a fundamental analysis predicting the stock price from the corporate intrinsic values. Corporate financial statements were used as the input for SVM. Based on the results, the rise or drop of the stock was predicted. The SVM results were compared with the forecasts of experts, as well as other machine learning methods such as ANN, decision tree and AdaBoost. SVM showed good predictive power while requiring less execution time than the other machine learning schemes.

  • When typical Z-source DC/AC inverter(ZSI) is operated in high voltage gain area, because of its high duty ratio, voltage and current stress in Z-network of typical ZSI are increased. This paper proposes a new switched trans ZSI(STZSI) with two switched trans cells which consist of one trans and two diodes. To confirm the operation performance of the proposed system, the PSIM simulation is performed for typical ZSI, switched inductor ZSI and the proposed STZSI. Voltage / current stress and transient state characteristics of each method are compared under the condition of DC input voltage 100[V] and output phase voltage 66[Vrms]. As a result, we confirmed that transient state of the proposed STZSI is short compared with the conventional ZSI because the high voltage gain is obtained using the same duty ratio, also a low duty ratio is required for the same output voltage. Finally, we could know the proposed system have low voltage and current stress in Z-network compared with the conventional ZSI.

  • Solar cell is one of the most important new renewable energy for future energy generation. This paper presents a novel two stage DC/DC converter topology for PV PCSs. The proposed converter consists of an interleaved boost converter and a two-tank LLC resonant converter which is connected in parallel in primary and series in secondary. The main idea of this topology is that the system can achieve either unilateral or bilateral operations due to the input voltage level of the PV module, which leads to a better performance. The operating schemes on the proposed converter are analyzed and described. A 2.2kW prototype product is built, tested and verified.

  • A lot of studies have been conducted to recognize the motion state or behavior of the user using the acceleration sensor built in the smartphone. In this paper, we applied the neural networks to the 3-axis acceleration information of smartphone to study human behavior. There are performance issues in applying time series data to neural networks. We proposed a multi-temporal neural networks which have trained three neural networks with different time windows for feature extraction and uses the output of these neural networks as input to the new neural network. The proposed method showed better performance than other methods like SVM, AdaBoot and IBk classifier for real acceleration data.

  • A high performance interleaved bridgeless boost power factor correction (PFC) rectifier operating under the critical current conduction mode (CrM) is proposed in this paper to improve the efficiency and system performance of various applications, such as nano-grid systems. By combining the interleaved technique with the bridgeless topology, the circuit contains two independent branches without rectifier diodes. The branches operate in interleaved mode for each respective half-line period. Moreover, when operating in CrM, all the power switches take on soft-switching, thereby reducing switching losses and raising system efficiency. In addition, the input current flows through a minimum amount of power devices. By employing a commercial PFC controller, an effective control scheme is used for the proposed circuit. The operating principle of the proposed circuit is presented, and the design considerations are also demonstrated. Simulations and experiments have been carried out to evaluate theoretical analysis and feasibility of the proposed circuit.

  • Power conversion system must be increased swiching frequency in order to achieve a small size, a light weight and a low noise, However, the swiches of converter are subjected to high switching power losses and switching stresses. As a result of those, the power system brings on a low efficiency. In this paper, the authors propose a DC-DC boost converter of high power by partial resonant switch method (PRSM). The switching devices in a proposed circuit are operated with soft swiching and the control technique of those is simplified for switch to drive in constant duty cycle. The partial resonant circuit makes use of a inductor suing step up and a condenser of loss-less snubber. Also the circuit has a merit which is taken to increase of efficiency, as if makes to a regeneration at input source of accumulated energy in snubber condenser without loss of snubber in conventional cirvuit. The result is the the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of system is high. The proposed converter is deemed the most suitable for high power applications where the power switching devices are used.

  • While there are many services that can check current traffic condition and application program such as bus arrival alarm are developed, since it only provide simple alarm and check level of information, it is still insufficient in many senses. Therefore, the program that try to develop in this study is the system that predict arrival time to destination and inform the bus passengers by applying real time traffic information. The system developed related to this study is still very inadequate. In the system developed in this thesis, when the user input the current bus number and destination using smart-phone, relevant server acquire the bus route information from bus information DB, and analyze real time traffic information based on the information from traffic information DB, and inform customer of expected arrival time to destination. In this thesis, traffic congestion can be eased off and regular operation of public transportation can be improved with reliable destination arrival alarm. Also, it is considered that pattern of bus users can be analyzed by using these information, and analyzing average transport speed and time of public transportation, travel time depending on various situation can give a boost to study related to transportation information and its development.

  • In this paper, the gearless traction machine drive system using a permanent-maget motor for high-speed elevators is addressed. This application of permanent-magnet motor to the elevator traction machine enables several improvements including higher efficiency, better ride comfort, smaller size and weight, and so on. PWM boost converter is also adopted so that DC-link voltage regulation, hi-directional power flow, and controllable power factor with reduced input current harmonics are possible. To increase reliability and performance, the control board, which can include the car and group controller as well as PWM converter and inverter controller, is designed based on TMS320VC33 DSP The simulator system for high-speed elevators has been developed so that the drive system of high-speed elevator can be tested without my limitation on ride distance and the load condition. Some experimental results are given to verify the effectiveness of the developed system.

  • In this paper, the two-stage DC-DC converter is proposed to make the control simple and to boost the low input voltage in the fuel cell generating system. The low efficiency of the conventional power converter is caused by a characteristic of the low-voltage and high-current in the fuel cell generating system. High-frequency transformer is needed to block the noise and to guarantee the safety of cell and load as a magnetically insulation. The proposed two-stage DC-DC converter for a fuel cell generation is more efficient than the traditional one-stage converter and easy to control. The design of a high-frequency transformer is also simple. Finally, the utility of the proposed converter is proved by the simulations and experiments.
