한국 뮤지컬의 변천과 뮤지컬 의상의 특성에 관한 고찰 (A Consideration on the Change of Korean Musical and the Characteristic of Musical Costume)

  • This study aims to know the trace of Korean musical, consider musical depending on its type, arrange characteristic of musical costume and find out the developmental direction of Korean musical costume with potentials as a culture industry. For study method, the data were collected from thesis, academic journal, book and internet web-site concerning musical costume, literatures were considered and performance costume photos, which were captured via musical performance site, were analyzed. The history of Korean modern-day musical is regarded as starting with (1966) in the full scale. Although foreign musical was imitated in 1970s~1980s, it may be called the growth period of Korean musical because the period showed the commercial possibility. Since 1990s, large-scaled musical securing good work and popularity was popular. In 2000s, musical industry was abundant quantitatively and qualitatively as investment or popularity was significantly expanded. The type of Korean musical are divided to opera musical of European, Broadway musical of American and creative musical of Korean. The costumes used in opera musical of European and Broadway musical of American are borrowed from original works through license or were manufactured in Korea by referring to the costumes of original works and using similar materials or fabrics. The costumes used in creative musical of Korea are designed by either domestic or foreign designers and produced in Korea.

뮤지컬 양식사 전개에 나타난 특성과 전략 - 통합과 해체의 관점을 중심으로 - (Characteristics and Strategies Shown in the Development of the History of Musical Styles - Focused on the Perspective of Integration and Deconstruction -)

  • 본 연구는 현대 뮤지컬사에서 대두되는 뮤지컬 양식을 통합과 해체란 관점으로 분석함으로써, 각 양식에 내포된 특성과 전략을 학술적으로 규명하는 데 있다. 뮤지컬의 양식은 시대에 따라 이합·통합 ·해체·융합의 시기로 나눌 수 있다. 뮤지컬 양식은 모더니즘과 포스트모더니즘의 관점으로 양식의 발현시기와 의미를 고찰할 수 있다. 모더니즘은 '통합'과 '집중'의 에너지가 주조를 이루며, 전기 포스트 모더니즘은 '해체'와 '분산'의 동력이, 후기 포스트모더니즘은 양 사조의 변증법적 결과물로서 '융합'과 '조화'의 철학이 주조를 이루며 작동하고 있다. 뮤지컬의 창작 원리인 통합과 해체 원리는 뮤지컬 태동기의 불안정한 이합의 양식의 발전기를 지나 발현하였다. 이후 로저스와 해머스타인 2세의 등장으로 인해 드라마의 선형성이 강조되는 북 뮤지컬의 통합 원리를 구축하였고, 새로운 내용을 담기위해 콘셉트 뮤지컬의 해체 원리가 탄생하였다. 이후 뮤지컬 작품들에서 발견되는 '융합성'은 이합에서 통합으로, 해체에서 다시 통합으로 선회하는 것으로, 좀 더 발전적인 의미에서 통합이 해체를 다시 포용하고 있다. 이렇듯 끊임없이 서로에게 영향을 주면서 더 좋은 방향으로 발전하는 융합적 절충은 뮤지컬 양식의 발전에 이바지 할 수 있음을 알 수 있다.

스티븐 손드하임의 뮤지컬 융합 양식을 향한 실험과 전략 (Stephen Sondheim's Experiments and Strategies for Musical Fusion Style)

  • 본 논문은 스티븐 손드하임(Stephen Sondheim)의 뮤지컬 양식 변화 과정에 내포되어 있는 특징을 간파해 내고, 창작자와 관객을 연결하는 구조적인 소통 툴과 함의점을 도출하기 위함이다. 손드하임 뮤지컬에 나타나는 전략들은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 손드하임의 초기 뮤지컬 작품들은 북 뮤지컬의 원리를 따르며 가사의 은율과 의미와 같은 기본 요소에 충실한 통합성을 강조한다. 둘째, 초기 포스트모더니즘의 시류 속에서 콘셉트 뮤지컬 <컴퍼니(Company)>를 통해 극단적 해체 원리를 시도하며 파편화된 극적 흐름을 통해 이성적 사유를 추구한다. 셋째, 극단적 해체에서 야기되는 몰입의 결여를 극복하고자 극적 선형성을 유지하지만, <소야곡(Little Night Music)>과 <스위니 토드(Sweeney Todd)>에서 코러스와 인물들의 노래를 통해 더욱 정교하고 정형화된 통합과 해체 원리의 융합 양식을 구현한다. 마지막으로 손드하임은 <조지와 함께한 일요일(Sunday Park with George)>, <숲속으로(Into the Woods)> 등의 작품에서 막과 장의 경계를 허물고 새로운 소재를 표현하기 위한 다각적 실험을 시도한다. 결론적으로 손드하임의 융합 실험과 전략들은 창작자의 메시지를 전달하기 위해 관객의 극적 몰입을 유발하고 동시에 사회 문제에 대해 이성적인 사유를 야기하기 위한 틀과 소통의 매개체를 찾는 과정으로 현대 뮤지컬의 흥행문법의 주도하는 미학을 갖추고 있음을 확인할 수 있다.

  • This paper aims to illustrate and illuminate the relationship between language and its neighbor disciplines, in particular between language and literature, language and religion, and language and music. 1. Language and literature. Literature is an art of language. Therefore, linguistics, the science of language, should be able to explain how the grammar of literature elevates and ordinary language into a literary language. I illustrate poetic syntax with examples from Shelley, Coleridge, and Wordsworth. 2. Language and religion. I show how a linguistic analysis of a religious text can illuminate the background, authorship, chronology, etc., of a religious text with an example from the Book of Daniel. I also illustrate how a misanalysis of a poetic meter led to a mistranslation with an example from the Book of Psalms. 3. Language and music. First I trace an epochal event in the history of the Western music, i.e., the change of the musical style from the liturgical music of Latin in which the rhythm was created by the alternation of syllable duration into the liberated music of German in which the rhythm was generated by the alternation of lexical stress. I then illustrate a parallelism between linguistic and musical structures with several musical pieces including Gregorian chant, the 16th century music of Palestrina, the 17th century music of Schutz, the 18th century music of Mozart, and the 19th century Viennese music. Finally, the importance of text-tune (verse-melody) association is discussed with examples of mismatches in translated Korean hymns and contemporary Korean lyrical songs. In the concluding part, I speculate on some factors that are responsible for the same organizational devices in three different modes of human communication. An answer may be that all are under the same laws of mind that govern the way man perceives and organizes nature, i.e., the same cognitive abilities of man, in particular, the capacity to organize and impose structure on their respective inputs.

자동페이지 넘김장치의 개발 (Development of the Automatic Page Passing Device)

  • 본 논문은 자동으로 책장을 넘길 수 있는 장치에 대한 시스템 설계 및 제품개발에 관해 다룬다. 악보 또는 책을 손상시키지 않고 책장을 한 장씩 넘기기 위해 흡임모터를 이용했으며, 책장을 넘길 때 책을 고정, 흡입 그리고 책장을 넘기는 일련의 동작을 마이크로프로세서에 의해 다수의 모터를 이용하여 구현하였다. 기존 제품은 사전에 한정된 낱장들을 다수개의 넘김바에 끼워야 하는 반면 본 장치는 사전 작업이 필요 없이 자동으로 낱장들을 넘긴다. 제작된 결과물을 이용하여 실증실험을 통해 본 장치의 효용성을 입증하고자 한다.

영화 속 클래식 음악의 기능분석:영화 <체실비치에서>를 중심으로 (Functional Analysis of Classical Music in Film: Focused on )

  • 이 논문은 도미니크 쿠크(Dominic Cooke)감독의 영화 <체실비치에서>(On Chesil Beach, 2017)의 줄거리와 클래식 음악과 영화의 의미연합 관계를 탐구하는 것으로, 내러티브에 의한 정보가 클래식 음악이 지닌 정보와 어떻게 연합하는지를 분석하고 있다, 이를 위하여 베쉬위너(David Bashwiner)가 분석한 영화 <킹스 스피치>(King's Speech, 2010)의 마지막 장면과 베토벤 심포니의 음량 및 기악법 변화와의 관계, 그리고 안수환이 분석한 <그린 북>(Green Book, 2018)의 호텔 대화 장면과 드뷔시의 아라베스크에서 나타나는 변화에 의한 의미 연합 연구를 방법론으로 활용하였다. 또한 악곡이 지닌 음악 외적인 정보를 통하여 어떻게 청각적 의미를 생성하는 지를 슈만의 '트로이메라이'를 활용한 분석을 선행연구로 삼아 방법론으로 활용하였다. 영화 <체실비치에서>에는 모차르트의 K.593과 하이든의 Op.77 No.1, 그리고 슈베르트의 D. 810이 활용되었다. 본 연구는 <체실비치에서>에 나타난 모차르트, 하이든, 슈베르트의 곡이 어떤 기능을 하고 있는지를 분석하였다. 이 영화는 등장인물들의 관계와 내면적 의도를 표현하기 위하여 악기 간의 관계, 음악적 정보와 음악외적 정보 등을 활용하였다. 이러한 클래식 음악의 정보들과 영화의 줄거리적 핵심 정보는 감상의 이해를 향상시키는 기능이 있음을 본 연구를 통하여 알 수 있다.

학생교육문화회관의 공간구성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Space Composition of the Educational Cultural Center for Students)

  • The Educational Cultural Center for Students is a new mixed-cultural space which made around 1997 for students' education of humanism and talent with the 7th revision of educational course. This Educational Cultural Center for Students is different to the existing one because the subject of the culture is students who make creation and performance by themselves while the former ones were for seeing, hearing and feeling things. There are seven Educational Cultural Center for Students all over the country and will be built more in the future. Comparing to the former Educational Cultural Centers for Students, functional rooms in the Educational Cultural Centers for Students are an outdoor performance room, a large performance room, a small performance room of performance facility, a gallery of display facility, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, a fitness room, a table-tennis room of physical facility, a library and a reading room of a book facility, and a group room, a computer room, a singing room, a billiard room, an art room, a musical room, a dancing room, a manner room, a playing room, a cultural lecture room and a seminar room of a interest-activity facility. The result of analyzing the usage frequency is that a performance room has the highest frequency and a display room, a musical room, a music appreciation room and a physical room follow the frequency order. But this frequency does not fit for all area. By place and social situations, the frequency and space organization may be changed.

만 5세 반 유아의 그림책을 활용한 음악 만들기프로그램이 음악 적성과 음악 창의성에 미치는 영향 (The Development and Effects of a Music Making Program Using Picture Books on Music Aptitude and Music Creativity for a Class of Five-year-old Children)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to develop a music making program that utilizes the characteristics of the picture books medium through the ADDIE model so that teachers can easily apply it to children, and to determine whether it affects children's musical aptitude and music creativity. Methods: The Participants of the study were 42 five-year-old children attending a daycare in Seoul, of which 20 were in the experimental group and 22 in the comparative group. The experimental group participated in a music production program using picture books, and during the same period, the comparison group participated in music activities suggested by the Nuri Course. Using the SPSS 22.0 program, average, standard deviation, independent sampling t-test, and ANCOVA(Analysis of Covariance) were calculated. Results: The music making program using picture books improved children's rhythm and tone which are the sub-items of music aptitude. The music making program enhanced children's music flexibility, music creativity, music logic which are the sub-items of music creativity. Conclusion/Implications: The music making program presented systemic teaching-learning method with which teachers explained the modeling and practiced from simple activities to various activities repeatedly in order to make teachers approach music making more easily. It is recommendable to make the music making program by using I-pad and computers.

The symbolic meaning shown in the portraits of King Henry VIII

  • The purpose of this study is to examine symbolic meanings of costumes shown by portraits of King Henry VIII and use them as basic data for research on costume design of historical dramas in the Renaissance or on King Henry VIII's costume. This study attempted analysis of symbolic meanings from the paintings-related various domestic and overseas literatures, preliminary study paper, and web sites etc. The symbolic meanings expressed by the portraits of King Henry VIII are characterized by authority, innovation performance, authority, masculinity, innovation performance, artistic taste, intellectual charm, intrepidity and benevolence. Especially, the portraits of King Henry VIII symbolized his masculine beauty by emphasizing sexual attractiveness that cannot be seen in portraits of other kings through broad shoulders and exaggerated codpiece which are the zenith of masculine beauty during the Renaissance age. Through the image of King Henry VIII which was painted with jester or barber surgeons, his characteristic and open mind thinking highly of the technique and human life was also expressed. In the portrait of King Henry VIII, various images set in knights' tournament, playing a musical instrument and reading a book as well as the image of wearing a parliament costume were shown, highlighting King Henry VIII as a person good at both literary and martial arts with open and innovative personality than any other kings in history.

목공예품의 이미지 제공 및 수종분석 (IV) - 문구류를 중심으로 - (Image Support and Wood Identification of Wood Crafts (IV) - Focusing on Stationery articles -)

  • Woodcraft activities have an inseparable relationship with our daily life, and it is a field that needs to be continued because of the value of education for the growing students. The interest in woodworking from childhood to old age is rapidly expanding nowadays, therefore this study has been done to provide images to those who are engaged in woodcraft business and also those who are interested in this field. If we look at the use of wood in our daily life, We can classify it into Architecture, Civil engineering, Furniture, Musical Instrument, Packaging, Recreational instrument, Exercise instrument, Stationery, Daily commodity, and Industrial use. Among them, We examined kinds of stationery and which type of woods were used. As a result of classifying 101 stationery products in 22 countries, stationery materials using wood can be used for Business cards, Envelope houses, Box houses, Pen holders, Locker plates, Stationery baskets, Book holders, Stamps, Paper knives, Bookmarks, and Photo frames. It was found various wooden stationery are made in USA, Japan, UK, Canada etc. And the most frequently used species are hardwoods such as Walnut (Juglans regia), Maple (Acer spp.), Cherry (Prunus serotina), Birch (Betula spp.), Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), Tulip (Liriodendron tulipifera Linnaeus), Bubinga (Guibourtia tessmannii J. Leonard), Wenge (Milletia laurentii De. wild), Cocobolo (Dallbergia cultrata Grah), Zebrawood (Microberlinia brazzavillensis A. Chev.) and Ebony (Diospyros spp.).
