The Coverage dependent attachment of multifunctional groups included in threonine molecules adsorbed to Ge (100)$-2{\times}1$ surface was investigated using core-level photoemission spectroscopy (CLPES) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The core-level spectra at a low coverage indicated that the both carboxyl and amine groups participated in the bonding with the Ge (100) surface by "O-H dissociated and N-dative bonded structure". However, at high coverage level, additional adsorption geometry of "O-H dissociation bonded structure" appeared possibly to minimize the steric hindrance between adsorbed molecules. Moreover, the C 1s, N 1s, and O 1s core level spectra confirmed that the carboxyl oxygen is more competitive against the hydroxymethyl oxygen in the adsorption reaction. The adsorption energies calculated using DFT methods suggested that four of six adsorption structures were plausible. These structures were the "O-H dissociated-N dative bonded structure", the "O-H dissociation bonded structure", the "Om-H dissociated-N dative bonded structure", and the "Om-H dissociation bonded structure" (where Om indicates the hydroxymethyl oxygen). These structures are equally likely, according to the adsorption energies alone. Conclusively, we investigate in threonine on Ge (100) surface system that the "O-H dissociated-N dative bonded structure" and the "O-H dissociation bonded structure" are preferred at low coverage and high coverage.
Structures of unprotonated [(NH3)n+(n = 1-6)] and protonated [NH4+(NH3)n-1(n = 1-6)] ammonia cluster cations have been optimized with ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and second-order MФller-Plesset (MP2)/6-31+G ** levels and the harmonic vibrational frequencies have also been evaluated. In unprotonated cluster cations, NH3+ forms as a central core of the first ammonia solvation shell. In protonated cluster cations, NH4+ forms as a central core. In unprotonated dimer and trimer cations, there are two types of isomers (hydrogen-bonded and head-to-head interactions). In both cluster cations, the hydrogen-bonded isomers are more stable. In the hydrogen-bonded dimer cation, the proton transfer reaction takes place from (NH3-HN+H2) to (NH4+-NH2). But in the other unprotonated cluster cations, the proton transfer does not take place. In unprotonated pentamer and hexamer, a NH3+ core has both interactions in a complex. On the other hand, in unprotonated tetramer a core has only the hydrogen-bonded type combined with neutral ammonia molecules. With increasing cluster cation size, the bond lengths [R(NN)] between two nitrogen atoms and the distances [R(N ...H)] of the hydrogen-bond increase reg-ularly. In the calculated infra-red absorption bands for ammonia cluster cations, the characteristic peaks of the bridged NH vibration of the hydrogen-bonded clusters appear near 2500 cm-1 . With increasing size, the peaks shift from 2306 cm-1 to 2780 cm-1 .
In this paper, wave propagation of double-bonded Cooper-Naghdi micro sandwich cylindrical shells with porous core and carbon nanotube reinforced composite (CNTRC) face sheets are investigated subjected to multi-physical loadings with temperature dependent material properties. The governing equations of motion are derived by Hamilton's principle. Then, the influences of various parameters such as wave number, CNT volume fraction, temperature change, Skempton coefficient, material length scale parameter, porosity coefficient on the phase velocity of double-bonded micro sandwich shell are taken into account. It is seen that by increasing of Skempton coefficient, the phase velocity decreases for higher wave number and the results become approximately the constant. Also, by increasing of the material length scale parameter, the cut of frequency increases, because the stiffness of micro structure increases. The obtained results for this article can be used to detect, locate and quantify crack.
Objective: We compared the shear bond strength (SBS) of lingual retainers bonded to bovine enamel with three different resins using direct and indirect methods. Methods: Both ends of pre-fabricated twisted ligature wires were bonded to bovine enamel surfaces using Light-Core, Tetric N-Flow, or Transbond XT. Phosphoric acid-etched enamel surfaces were primed with One-Step prior to bonding with Light-Core or Tetric N-Flow. Transbond XT primer was used prior to bonding with Transbond XT. After 24 hours in water at $37^{\circ}C$, we performed SBS tests on the samples. We also assigned adhesive remnant index (ARI) scores after debonding and predicted the clinical performance of materials and bonding techniques from Weibull analyses. Results: Direct bonding produced significantly higher SBS values than indirect bonding for all materials. The SBS for Light-Core was significantly higher than that for Tetric N-Flow, and there was no significant difference between the direct bonding SBS of Transbond XT and that of Light-Core. Weibull analysis indicated Light-Core performed better than other indirectly bonded resins. Conclusions: When the SBS of a wire retainer is of primary concern, direct bonding methods are superior to indirect bonding methods. Light-Core may perform better than Transbond XT or Tetric N-Flow when bonded indirectly.
According to the manufacturing process of the laminated stator core for an inserted permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM), the iron loss may be different. It is because the mechanical stress imposed to electrical steel sheet is strongly dependent on the manufacturing process. This paper proposes a new iron loss measurement algorithm which utilizes the induced voltage of a search coil and exciting current. The method is effective even when the distribution of magnetic flux density is not uniform along the magnetic flux path as well as uniform. The developed iron loss measurement system is applied to bonded- and embossed-type segmented stator cores of an IPMSM, and the iron losses are quantitatively compared.

We investigated the adsorption structures of serine on a Ge(100) surface by core-level photoemission spectroscopy (CLPES) in conjunction with density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The core-level C 1s, N 1s, and O 1s CLPES spectra confirmed that the carboxyl oxygen competed more strongly with the hydroxymethyl oxygen during the adsorption reaction, thereby favoring formation of the "O-H dissociated-N dative bonded" and "O-H dissociation bonded" structures at 0.30 ML and 0.60 ML, respectively. The experimental results were corroborated theoretically by calculating the reaction pathways leading to the two adsorption geometries. The reaction pathways indicated that the "O-H dissociated-N dative bonded structure" is the major product of serine adsorption on Ge(100) due to comparably stable adsorption energy.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was aimed to compare the shear bond strength on dentin of three dentin bonding agents and two resin cements used in conjunction with self-cured composite resin core material. Material and method : Control group and six experimental groups were divided for this study. Control group was designated as specimens bonded with Tenure$ A&B^{(R)}$. Experimental groups were as follows : PB-BL group : specimens bonded with Prime&Bond $NT^{(R)}$, $BondLink^{(R)}$ SB-BL group : specimens bonded with $^{(R)}$, BondLink$SingleBond^{(R)}$ PB group : specimens bonded with Prime&Bond $NT^{(R)}$ SB group : specimens bonded with $SingleBond^{(R)}$ PF group : specimens bonded with $Panavia-F^{(R)}$ BI group specimens bonded with Bistite $II^{(R)}$ All specimens were stored in $37^{\circ}C$ distilled water for 24 hours, followed by the shear bond strength was tested by universal testing machine. The data was analysed statistically by Mann-Whitney test. Results : 1. For Prime&Bond $NT^{(R)}$ and $SingleBonde^{(R)}$, the shear bond strength was 0.24 MPa and 7.19 MPa each by each, while Tenure $A&B^{(R)}$ group control was measured at 13.93 MPa (p<0.05). Especially for Prime&Bond $NT^{(R)}$ it did not get conjunction with dentin. 2. For Prime&Bond $NT^{(R)}$ and $SingleBond^{(R)}$ using $BondLink^{(R)}$, there was no significant difference as a result of 11.73 MPa and 14.00 MPa each by each (p<0.05). 3. For $Panavia-F^{(R)}$ and Bistite $II^{(R)}$, they showed the highest shear bond strength as measured by 18.24 MPa and 16.09 MPa each (p<0.05).

The L-bending of inner-structure bonded sandwich sheet metal is examined by using a bending die attached to the material testing machine. The specimen is composed of top and bottom layers and a middle layer of pyramid-core structure and each layer is bonded by brazing. The variables chosen for experiments were clearance between punch and die, location of bend line on the specimen surface and clamping type of specimen during L-bending. Effects of these variables on deformation of specimen around die-corner radius were investigated. It was shown that the irregular shapes of recess are formed in the inner layer of bended parts and they greatly depend on working conditions.

The objective of this study is to understand the behaviour of hollow core slabs strengthened with FRP and hybrid techniques through numerical and analytical studies. Different strengthening techniques considered in this study are (i) External Bonding (EB) of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) laminates, (ii) Near Surface Mounting (NSM) of CFRP laminates, (iii) Bonded Overlay (BO) using concrete layer, and (iv) hybrid strengthening which is a combination of bonded overlay and NSM or EB. In the numerical studies, three-dimensional Finite Element (FE) models of hollow core slabs were developed considering material and geometrical nonlinearities, and a phased nonlinear analysis was carried out. The analytical calculations were carried out using Response-2000 program which is based on Modified Compression Field Theory (MCFT). Both the numerical and analytical models predicted the behaviour in agreement with experimental results. Parametric studies indicated that increase in the bonded overlay thickness increases the peak load capacity without reducing the displacement ductility. The increase in FRP strengthening ratio increased the capacity but reduced the displacement ductility. The hybrid strengthening technique was found to increase the capacity of the hollow core slabs by more than 100% without compromise in ductility when compared to their individual strengthening schemes.
In this study, the effect of bonding temperature and bonding pressure on deformation and tensile properties of diffusion bonded joint of STS304 compact heat exchanger was investigated. The diffusion bonds were prepared at 700, 800 and $900^{\circ}C$ for 30, 60 and 90 min in pressure of 3, 5, and 7 MPa under high vacuum condition. The height deformation of joint decreased and the width deformation of joint increased with increasing bonding pressure at $900^{\circ}C$. The ratio of non-bonded layer and void observed in the joint decreased with increasing bonding temperature and bonding pressure. Three types of the fracture surface were observed after tensile test. The non-bonded layer was observed in diffusion bonded joint preformed at $700^{\circ}C$, the non-bonded layer and void were observed at $800^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, the ductile fracture occurred in diffusion bonded joint preformed at $900^{\circ}C$. Tensile load of joint bonded at $800^{\circ}C$ was proportional to length of bonded layer and tensile load of joint bonded at $900^{\circ}C$ was proportional to minimum width of pattern. The tensile strength of joint was same as base metal.
