This paper investigates bond behavior of structural lightweight concrete (SLWC) and ordinary concrete (OC) comparatively using bending test called Standard Belgium Hinged Beam Test (SBHBT). For this purpose the experiments were carried out as three series on 36 beam specimens (12 specimens of SLWC and OC with $20{\phi}$ development length, 12 specimens of SLWC with $25{\phi}$ development length). For each series bond behavior of steel rebars with 8, 10, 12, 14 mm diameters were tested. The results indicate that bond strength of SLWC is considerable lower than OC and $20{\phi}$ development length is insufficient for steel rebars with 12 mm and 14 mm diameters. Therefore development length of SLWC was extended to $25{\phi}$, even if 8 and 10 mm steel rebars provided acceptable bond strength. In this way, bond strength between SLWC and 8 and 10 mm steel rebars was developed. In addition, adequate bond behavior was achieved for 12 mm rebar but the beam in which 14 mm rebar used exceeded their bearing capacity by shear forces before yield stress. This result shows that SBHBT is more convenient for small sized steel rebars.
The rheological behaviour of anatase $TiO_2$ with organic coating has been investigated extensively in this study. The yield stress was measured over a wide range of solids concentration and pH using stress-controlled and speed-controlled rheometers. The organic treatment leads to a shift of the isoelectric point (IEP) from around pH 5.5 to pH 2.4. A maximum yield stress occurs in the vicinity of the isoelectric point determined by electrokinetic measurements. The transition of rheological behaviour between elastic solid and viscous liquid is represented by a stress plateau in a plot of stress against strain. It is hypothesised that the slope of the stress plateau reflects the uniformity of the structure, and hence the distribution of bond strength. Altering the concentration and the surface chemistry can vary the bond strength and its distribution. therefore, resulting in different type of failure: "ductile-type" or "brittle-type". pH and volume fraction dependence of yield stress could be described quantitatively using existing models with reasonable agreement.easonable agreement.
This paper presents the application of multi-gene genetic programming (MGP) technique for modeling the bond strength of ribbed steel bars in concrete. In this regard, the experimental data of 264 splice beam tests from different technical papers were used for training, validating and testing the model. Seven basic parameters affecting on the bond strength of steel bars were selected as input parameters. These parameters are diameter, relative rib area and yield strength of steel bar, minimum concrete cover to bar diameter ratio, splice length to bar diameter ratio, concrete compressive strength and transverse reinforcement index. The results show that the proposed MGP model can be alternative approach for predicting the bond strength of ribbed steel bars in concrete. Moreover, the performance of the developed model was compared with the building codes' empirical equations for a complete comparison. The study concludes that the proposed MGP model predicts the bond strength of ribbed steel bars better than the existing building codes' equations. Using the proposed MGP model and building codes' equations, a parametric study was also conducted to investigate the trend of the input variables on the bond strength of ribbed steel bars in concrete.
This paper presents a tri-uniform bond stress model for predicting the lap splice strength of reinforcing bar at the critical bond splitting failure. The proposed bond distribution model consists of three zones, namely, splitting zone, post-splitting zone and yielding zone. In each zone, the bond stress is assumed to be constant. The models for bond strength in each zone are adopted from previous studies. Combining the equilibrium, strain-slip relation and the bond strength model in each zone, the steel stress-slip model can be derived, which can be used in the nonlinear frame analysis of the column. The proposed model is applied to derive explicit equations for predicting the strength of the lap splice strengthened by fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) in both elastic and post-yield ranges. For design purpose, a procedure to calculate the required FRP thickness and the number of FRP sheets is also presented. A parametric investigation was conducted to study the relation between lap splice strength and lap splice length, number and thickness of FRP sheets and the ratio of concrete cover to bar diameter. The study shows that the lap splice strength can be enhanced by increasing one of these parameters: lap splice length, number or thickness of FRP sheets and concrete cover to bar diameter ratio. Verification of the model has been conducted using experimental data available in literature.

The use of headed bars as opposed to standard 90- or 180-degree hooked bars in beam ends, beam-column joints or other steel congested areas for anchorage and bond has become more favorable due to the fact that steel congestion is often created by large bend diameters or crossties. This research mainly focuses on evaluating the code provisions regarding the use of headed bars. Nine simply supported rectangular concrete beams with headed longitudinal reinforcement were tested under a four-point monotonic loading system. The design clear spacing, which varies from 1.5 to 4.25 times the bar diameter, was the only parameter for the experimental investigation. The test results showed that the closely-spaced headed bars were capable of developing to full yield strength without any severe brittle concrete breakout cone or pullout failure. Bond along the bar was not sufficient due to the early loss of concrete integrity. However, the headed bars were effective for anchorage with no excessive moment capacity reduction. This implies that the clear spacing of about 2 times the bar diameter for headed bars may be reasonable to ensure the development of specified yield strength of headed bars and corresponding member design strength.
The purpose of this study is to develop the analytical model for the reinforcement bar connection in group-filled steel pipe sleeve, which consists of beam elements for the reinforcement bar and shell elements for the sleeve and the mortar and spring elements for the bond stress-slip relationship. In the reinforcement bar connection using grout-filled steel pipe sleeve, the major variables are the bond stiffness between reinforcement bar and mortar($K_1$) and between sleeve and mortar($K_2$). It is nearly difficult to predict the exact bond stiffness with the experimental results. Therefore, The linearly elastic analyses using ABAQUS, FEM package show the validity of the mathematical equations for the bond stiffness and the choice of material elements in this paper. To predict the behaviour between yield and ultimate tensile strength, the nonlinear analyses must be performed henceforth.
This paper introduces an improved numerical model which can consider the bond-slip effect in steel-concrete composite structures without taking double nodes to minimize the complexity in constructing a finite element model. On the basis of a linear partial interaction theory and the use of the bond link element, the slip behavior is defined and the equivalent modulus of elasticity and yield strength for steel is derived. A solution procedure to evaluate the slip behavior along the interface of the composite flexural members is also proposed. After constructing the transfer matrix relation at an element level, successive application of the constructed relation is conducted from the first element to the last element with the compatibility condition and equilibrium equations at each node. Finally, correlation studies between numerical results and experimental data are conducted with the objective of establishing the validity of the proposed numerical model.
The paper reports on a study of bond strength between reduced-water-content concrete and tensile reinforcement in spliced mode. Three different diameters (12, 16 and 22 mm) of tensile steel were spliced in the constant moment zone, where there were two bars of same size in tension. For each diameter of reinforcement, a total of nine beams ($1900{\times}270{\times}180mm$) were tested, of which three beams were with no axial force (positive bending) and the other six beams were with axial force (combined bending). The splice length was selected so that bars would fail in bond, splitting the concrete cover in the splice region, before reaching the yield point. It was found that there was a considerable size effect in the experimental results, i.e., as the diameter of the reinforcement reduced the bond strength and the deflection recorded at the midspan increased significantly, whilst the stiffness of the beams reduced. It was also found for all reinforcement sizes that higher bond strength and stiffness were obtained for beams tested in combined bending than that of the beams tested in positive bending only.
Artifical Neural Network(ANN) models were used for forecasting interest rate as a new methodology, which has proven itself successful in financial domain. This research intended to construct ANN models which can maximize the performance of prediction, regarding Corporate Bond Yield (CBY) as interest rate. Synergistic Market Analysis (SMA) was applied to the construction of models [Freedman et al.]. In this aspect, while the models which consist of only time series data for corporate bond yield were devloped, the other models generated through conjunction and reorganization of fundamental variables and market variables were developed. Every model was constructed to predict 1,6, and 12 months after and we obtained 9 ANN models for interest rate forecasting. Multi-layer perceptron networks using backpropagation algorithm showed good performance in the prediction for 1 and 6 months after.

The dihydrido iridium(Ⅲ) complex [$Ir(PPh_3)_2H_2(ac)_2$]$BF_4$ (ac=acetone) reacts with 2-phenylpyridine and 7,8-benzoquinoline to yield the C-H activated complexes [$Ir(PPh_3)_2$H(ac)(L)]$BF_4$ (L= phenylpyridine; 7,8-benzoquioline). The dihydrido iridium(Ⅲ) complex [$Ir(PPh_3)_2H_2(ac)_2$]$BF_4$ also reacts with triaklysilane via an oxidative addition reaction to yield the trihydrido iridium complexes [$Ir(PPh_3)_2H_3SiR_3$]$BF_4$ (R =Et and Ph). The structual configuration was studied by conventional spectroscopy.
