중년기 여성의 우울도에 따른 신체만족도 및 의복행동 (Body cathexis and Clothing Behavior of Middle-aged Women according to the Depression Level)

  • This research was designed to analyze the relationship among depression level, body cathexis, and clothing behavioral attributes of middle-aged women. Respondents for questionnaire were middle-aged women aged from 40 to 59. A total of 197 responses were analyzed by SPSS 21.0 through t-test, and factor analysis with Varimax rotation. The results were as following. As older, the portion of depressed group increased. Higher in depression level, her body cathexis decreased, meaning those two valuables have negative relationship. Six clothing behavioral factors were extruded: style pursuit, body shaping, showing-off, comfort pursuit, recreativeness, and consciousness of others factor, which covers both physical and psychological aspects of middle-aged women. The difference between 40's and 50's was significant in depression level, however, not significant in body cathexis and clothing behavioral attributes. Except for weight, body cathexis satisfaction level of 'depressed group' were significantly lower than 'not-depressed group', meaning that psychological factor give a significant effect on body cathexis. 'Not-depressed group' tend to choose her own style and 'depressed group' more likely to be conscious of others and conform to the affiliation group. This finding implies that design and coordination of garments for middle-aged women could be recommended according to the depression level to improve the quality of life.

성인여성의 의복가치관과 영향변인에 관한 연구 (A Study on Clothing Value and Influencing Factors of Women)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 성인여성의 인구통계적 변인에 따른 신체만족도, 욕구, 의복가치관의 차이를 조사하고, 인구통계적 변인, 신체만족도, 욕구의 변인이 의복가치관에 미치는 영향을 규명하는 데 있다. 본 연구는 인구통계적 변인에 따른 신체만족도, 욕구, 의복가치관의 차이를 알아보기 위하여 one-way ANOVA분석과 $Scheff{\acute{e}}$검증을 하였으며, 인구통계적 변인, 신체만족도, 욕구의 변인이 의복가치관에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 조사대상자는 경남지역에 거주하는 20-50대 사이의 성인여성 436명이었으며, 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 인구통계적 변인에 따른 신체만족도, 욕구, 의복가치관은 부분적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였고, 특히 미디어접촉도는 신체만족도, 욕구, 의복가치관에 미치는 가장 중요한 요인으로 드러났다. 그러나 수입과 직업유무는 의복가치관의 어떠한 하위변인에서도 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 또한 의복가치관은 인구통계적 변인, 신체만족도, 욕구가 부분적으로 영향을 미치는 변수임을 알 수 있었다.

A Study on Consumers' Characteristics according to their Fashion Leadership - Focused on Body Cathexis, Self-Efficacy and Shopping Orientation -

  • The purposes of this study were to determine consumers' characteristics that were shown according to their fashion leadership through examining the differences found with consumers' self-conception like the body cathexis and self-efficacy and clothing shopping orientation. The data were collected from 263 female college students using questionnaire. The results could be summarized as follows: First, the household income, subjective social class and clothing expenditure of the fashion leader group was larger than those of the fashion follower and laggard groups. Second, the fashion leader group showed higher body cathexis than the fashion follower and laggard groups in the lower body, the abdominal region, the bust shape, and the whole body shape. Thirdly, the higher was the fashion leadership, the higher was the self-efficacy. Forth, it was proved that the higher was the fashion leadership, the higher were the clothing shopping orientation such as home-shopping preference, hedonic shopping, impulsive purchasing, and brand loyalty.

남녀 중고등학생의 심리적 특성과 의복행동과의 관계-자아중심성.자의식.신체만족도를 중심으로- (Adolescence Clothing Behavior as Related to Psychological Characteristics. -Emphasis on Adolescence Egocentrism, Self-Consciousness, Body Cathexis-)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of psychological characteristics-adolescence egocentrism, self-consciousness, body cathexis, and demographic variables on clothing behavior of adolescence. Adolescence egocentrism was measured by Kim's Imaginary Audience scale, and body cathexis, by selected questionnaires of Secord Jourard's Body Cathexis Scale. Buss's self-consciousness scae was slightly modified to assess public and Private self-consciousness, and five aspects of clothing behavior were assessed with the questionnaires from the previous studies dealing with clothing interest, psychological dependence, conformity, exhibition, dressing for others. The questionnaire were administered to 498 middle and high school boys and girls living in Seoul and the data were analyzed by Frquency, Factor Analysis, Pearson's Product Moment Correlation, ANOVA, Multiple Regression Analysis and Duncan test. The results of this study were as follows: 1) There were significant positive correlation between clothing behavior and adolescence egocentrism, self-consciousness whereas body cathexis generally were negatively related to clothing behavior. 2) Public self-consciousness and sex were the most influencial variables to clothing behavior among psychological characteristics and demographic variables. Also adolescence egocentrism was proved to be one of influencing factors on adolescence clothing behavior.

여고생의 하반신 형태 인식에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Degree of Consciousness of High School Girls' Lower Bodyshape)

  • The purpose of this study was to study the degree of consciousness and satisfaction of body cathexis of high school girls' lower bodyshape. The subjects in this study were 296 high school girls. The results were as follows : 1. The degree of satisfactions of girth items in lower part of the body were influenced by real body size than ideal body size. But the degree of satisfaction of weight was influenced by ideal body size and height was influenced by real size body. 2. The high school girls thought ideal body shape was tall in height, long in leg, slim in girth and light in weight. Therefore, they wanted to have slimmer, longer, and lighter body size than real body size. 3. The high school girls were more satisfied with lean body type than with standard body type or with obesity body type. Therefore they wanted to be lean body type.

BMI, 의복치수, 자아존중감과 우울이 신체관리에 미치는 영향 (Effects of BMI, Fitting size, Self-esteem, and Depression on the Body Management)

  • This research aimed to figure out the effects of physical features such as BMI, garment size and socio-psychological factors such as self-esteem and depression on the body management. A survey was conducted for women in their 40's and 50's. The participants in this study consisted of 197 women recruited in Daegu and the surrounding areas. Statistical analysis including factor analysis, ANOVA, cluster analysis and regression was done using SPSS 23.0 to analyze the results. Among 3 clusters divided by BMI, normal group showed higher body cathexis compared with overweight group and obesity group. S-size group showed higher body cathexis rather than M, L-size groups. L-size group showed higher scores in nonsurgical body management factor. Self-esteem(+)/depression(-) group showed highest body cathexis among 4 groups clustered by self-esteem and depression levels. On the other hand, self-esteem(-)/depression(+) group showed the lowest body cathexis and highest surgical body management and nonsurgical body management factors. This result meant that the lower in self-esteem and the higher in depression, body cathexis decreased and desire for body management increased. As the results of analysis of the effects of BMI, garment size, self-esteem, depression level on body management, depression was a significant factor on surgical body management; depression and garment size were critical factors on nonsurgical body management.

  • This study was to investigate the undergraduates' values of cosmetic surgery, which is the prevalent social phenomenon in our society, by examining the relations between their cosmetic surgery behavior and appearance concern, body cathexis, and self-esteem. There was weak positive relations between the degree of appearance concern and cosmetic surgery behavior. There were no significant relations between body cathexis and cosmetic surgery behavior and between self-esteem and cosmetic surgery behavior. It was found that cosmetic surgery behavior was obviously different by gender. There were differences in cosmetic surgery behavior according to grades, too.

의복 및 신체 만족도와 학업성취도가 사회적 자아존중감에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Clothing Satisfaction, Body Cathexis, and School Achievement Related to Social Self-esteem)

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to investigate high school girls' overall clothing satisfac-tion and self concepts, 2) to clarify the relationship between clothing satisfaction and self concept in terms of body cathexis, school achievement and social self-esteem, and 3) to find out the social self-esteem differences among the groups related to the high and low levels of clothing satisfaction, body cathexis as well as school achievement. Body Cathexis was measured by the Secord and Jofrard's Body Cathexis Scale. School achievement and social self-esteem were assessed with the modified questionnaires based on the previous researches. Clothing satisfaction which included 3 aspects was measured by the questionnaires developed for this study. The questionnaire was administered to 464 high school students in Seoul, and the data were aiialyzed by frequency, 1-test, one-way·ANOVA and SNK test, Pearson's product moment correlation and factor analysis. The results of this study were as follows: 1) High-school girls 'body' cathexis showed low levels of mean and distribution, wheareas school achievement and social self-esteem showed high levels of those.2) There werf significant positive correlation between clothing satisfaction and all of the self concept variables. In addition, positive correlation were found among the three self concept variables. 3) Three clothing satisfaction factors were emerged and named as clothing possession, clothing selection ability and parent's clothing restriction. Clothing posses- sion and parent's clothing restriction were generally satisfied. 4) School achievement was the most influencial variable for the level of serial self-esteem. It was thought that body dissatisfac-tion would be relieved by the high clothing satisfaction.

The Relationship between Body Cathexis and Clothing Satisfaction

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between body cathexis and clothing satisfaction. The questionnaire was administered to 458 female college students in Daegu and Sangju and the results were obtained as follows. From the questionnaire, the 14 body parts were categorized into 4 factors, these being weight/girth, lower body, face, height/length. The bust girth was not included into one of these 4 factors. Subjects were dissatisfied with all of their body parts, especially with thigh, hip girth in the lower part of the body, as well as their weight. According to the Rohrer Index distribution, 99.2% of respondents were thin or normal, but means of respondents' satisfaction scores on weight and height were very low. To measure clothing satisfaction two factors were included, these being 'satisfaction with one's clothing selection ability' and 'satisfaction with one's own clothes'. The respondents were quite neutral on their clothing selection ability and their own clothes. Two factors about clothing satisfaction were correlated negatively. All of body cathexis factors were correlated positively with 'satisfaction with one's clothing selection ability' and were correlated slightly negatively with 'satisfaction with one's own clothes'.

여대생의 신체적 특성에 따른 신체만족도 및 의복만족도, 외모관리행동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Body Cathexis, Satisfaction with Apparel Fit and Appearance- Management Behaviors according to Physical figure)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences between the body cathexis, appearance management behaviors and satisfaction with apparel fit according to physical figure of college women who had deep interests in their body and appearance. Data for this study was obtained from 413 college women in Taegu and Kyungpook Province. Means, t-test, ANOVA and Scheffe's post hoc comparison were used in data analysis. The result of this study were; 1. It was found that both body Cathexis and fit satisfaction of college women were generally low. College women were less satisfied with their body and fit of apparel. The unsatisfied body parts were thighs, abdomen and hip. 2. Significant differences in Satisfaction with apparel fit were found in skirt length, slacks length, thigh according to height and significant difference in satisfaction with apparel fit were found in armhole, abdomen, calf according to weight. 3. Significant differences in appearance management behaviors were not found according to height, but significant differences in diet, exercise and clothing use were found according to weight. Also significant differences in diet and clothing use were found according to R$\ddot{o}$hrer index.
