Smoking is one of the three major risk factors for vascular disease along with hypertension and hyperlipidemia. It is true that smoking has a negative effect on the circulatory system, and the frequency of coronary artery disease and peripheral vascular disease is significantly increased in smokers. Many epidemiological studies report that smokers have an approximately two-fold increased risk of coronary artery disease compared to non-smokers. This study was designed to investigate the relationship between cerebral blood flow change and depression index after acute smoking. Cerebral blood flow tests were performed before and after smoking in 8 subjects. Changes in blood flow after smoking were correlated with the depression score and negatively correlated with the depression score. In particular, there was a strong correlation with changes in blood flow in anterior cerebral artery. It is well known that changes in blood flow after smoking have a negative effect. In addition, considering the study that smoking aggravates the symptoms of depression, it was found that smoking and depression are factors that negatively affect each other.

Surgery to increase cerebral blood flow is one of the treatment methods of cerebral infarction. However, invasive methods, such as surgery, may result in postoperative complications or side effects. In order to supplement this invasive method, non-invasive devices have been introduced that use human blood pressure to pressurize the extremities to increase cerebral blood flow. However, the problem of poor speed and accuracy was raised. In this paper, the perfusion index of each arm was measured by applying pressure to both arms using Blood Oxygen Level Sensor to improve the accuracy of measurement and measurement time. The pressure applied to the arm by 75% of the moment when it falls to the leg and the pressure calculated by using the pressure value obtained from the arm. Like the existing blood pressure measuring cerebral blood flow increasing device, the blood flow can be increased by more than 20% and the measurement time can be shortened, so that it can be selectively used for the patient with cerebral infarction.

Transcranial Doppler ultrasonography (TCD) allows measurement of blood flow velocity to be made from the basal intracerebral vessels. Blood flow velocity in TCD is highly affected not only by blood vessel diameter, blood flow volume, blood viscosity, but also age and sex. Therefore, the study is focused on the correlation between TCD measurement index and sex/age. Subjects were 214 (male 147, famale 67) who had TCD for headache and stroke evaluations at Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital neurology department from December 2009 to April 2010. Sex did not show significant differences with mean flow velocity (MFV), peak systolic flow velocity (PSFV), end diastolic flow velocity (EDFV), pulsatility index (PI) and resistance index (RI) in middle cerebral artery (MCA). Although age also did not show significant differences with MFV and PSFV, EDFV has statistically decreased with age, and PI and RI has statistically increased with age. In addition, age showed significant correlation with MFV, EDFV, PI and RI, but not with PSFV. Therefore, TCD is definitely correlated with age and sex, so that those influencial factors must be considered when being tested.
Portal bood flow was measured with pulsed Doppler ultrasound in twenty anesthetized dogs. In anesthetized dogs with xylazine HCl, the average of portal blood flow velocity was reduced($11.68{\pm}1.55cm/sec$ vs. normal $16.67{\pm}1.77cm/sec$). Average portal blood flow was also decreased compared to normal($28.36{\pm}11.61ml/min/kg$ vs. normal $43.12{\pm}14.46 ml/min/kg$). And congestion index was increased($0.0368{\pm}0.0117cm{\cdot}sec$) vs. normal $0.0297{\pm}0.0062cm{\cdot}sec$). In anesthetized dogs with ketamine HCl, portal blood flow velocity was slightly increased ($22.62{\pm}2.53cm/sec$ vs. normal $16.67{\pm}1.77cm/sec$. Also mean portal blood flow was slightly increased($43.12{\pm}14.46ml/min/kg$ vs. normal $55.32{\pm}19.99ml/min/kg$). In anesthetized dogs with tiletamine and zolazepam, portal blood flow velocity and portal blood flow were unchanged.
Objectives: This study was to investigate the effect of moxibustion on peripheral blood flow by Doppler ultrasound in post-stroke hemiplegia patients. Methods: Moxibustion was applied on the points of LI4, TE3, TE5 and LI11 on the affected side, and blood flow of the radial artery was measured using the Minimax-Doppler-K device. Blood flow velocity and pulsation index were analyzed before, during, and after moxibustion. Results: The mean value of blood flow velocity in 13 patients showed a tendency of increase during moxibustion, but there was no significant difference in blood flow velocity before and after moxibustion, or pulsation index during and after moxibustion. In addition, among the five patients who showed marked increase tendency on the blood velocity graph, there was significant increase in blood velocity during, and after moxibustion compared with before moxibustion. Conclusions: This study suggests that moxibustion has an effect on peripheral blood flow in stroke patients with hemiplegia. Further validity tests with a larger scale sample are needed for the evidence of its practical use.
Arterial blood from the heart chonggyeong passed directly to the cerebral arteries and the blood circulation is important, especially in arteries that prevent blood flow there are several variables. Among the variables the average flow velocity, pulse index, and blood flow resistance and which variables, double maekbakjisuna systolic and diastolic blood flow resistance index at the maximum rate and blood pressure associated with this because they are important variables, The change of variables such as speed noehyeolryu There are observations about the non-invasive ultrasound measurements using Doppler noehyeolryu uses. Up to 20 men in the exercise of noeroganeun hyeolryuin chonggyeong arteries to increase blood flow rates can be found.
The purpose of this study was to develop a method by which the sensitivity of radionuclide liver imaging for detection of liver cirrhosis could be enhanced. Dynamic blood flow scan were performed 21 cases of liver cirrhosis patients by using computerized gamma camera named arterialization index. The results were as follows: 1) Arterialization index were higher in liver cirrhosis comparing to normal value 0.33 and its mean is 2. 02. 2) Comparing to static liver scan, higher sensitivity in dynamic hepatic blood flow scan for detection of liver cirrhosis. Sensitivity for detection of liver cirrhosis is over 90%. 3) There are no correlation between arterialization index and serum albumin level. The use of hepatic dynamic blood flow scan proved effective in detection of liver cirrhosis. However, the test may be used as an aid in distinguishing between normal and pathologic livers.
Purpose: In this study experiments were performed during 6 weeks with 40 adults, 20 subjects in the waist stabilization exercise with blood flow restriction group and 20 subjects in the waist stabilization exercise without blood flow restriction group, in order to determine the impact of waist stabilization exercise on White Area Index (WAI) followed by blood flow restriction. Methods: Thickness of external oblique abdominal muscle, internal oblique abdominal muscle, and transversus abdominis muscle, as well as density and WAI of external oblique abdominal muscle were measured, followed by performance of repeated ANOVA. Results: Significant difference in thickness of external oblique abdominal muscle according to periodical difference was observed between groups (p<0.05). Significant difference in thickness of internal oblique abdominal muscle and transversus abdominis muscle according to periodical difference was observed between groups (p<0.05). Significant difference in density and WAI of external oblique abdominal muscle according to periodical difference was observed between groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, significant difference was observed after waist stabilization exercise with blood flow restriction. These results can be used as basic data for future research on waist stabilization exercise and blood flow restriction exercise.
We measured the blood flow velocity of the anterior cerebral artery via anterior fontanelle approach of fifty five preterm neonates with duplex Doppler sonography and analyzed the waveform and calculated pulsatility index, resistive index. Intracranial velocities and pulsatility indexes were increased with increasing gestational age, birth weight, and age of the neonate, but resistive indices decreased. In sick babies, characteristic resistive index increment were seen in patients with intraventricular hemorrhage, but no statistical difference was seen in patients with respiratory distress syndrome. Our results suggest that duplex Doppler sonography is a useful noninvasive means of monitoring cerebrohemodynamics in normal preterm neonates and flow change of sick babies.
