BR2K: A Replication and Recovery Technique Using Kubernetes for Blockchain Services

  • 본 논문에서는 블록체인 응용서비스를 견고하게 실행하고, 이의 실패 시 체계적인 복구를 지원하는 BR2K(Blockchain application, Replication & Recovery technique using Kubernetes)기법을 제안한다. 블록체인 서비스는 블록체인의 특징인 탈중앙화, 높은 보안성, 그리고 데이터 무결성 등을 기반으로 행정, 금융, 그리고 의료 시스템 같은 다양한 분야에서 개발 및 적용되고 있다. 따라서 이와 같이 서비스의 연속성이 중요한 분야에서 블록체인 서비스 실행에 대한 견고성이 제공하는 것이 필요하며, 서비스 실패에 대한 복구 방안 또한 필요한 실정이다. 이를 위하여, BR2K는 블록체인 응용서비스의 지속 가능한 실행을 체계적으로 지원하는 실행 복제 기법을 제공한다. 또한, 블록체인 서비스 레지스트리 기반의 견고한 컨테이너 레지스트리를 소개하고 이를 이용하여 서비스 실패에 대한 복구를 체계적으로 지원한다. 더불어, 블록체인 서비스 개발 프레임워크인 트러플을 쿠버네티스 컨테이너 관리 도구를 활용할 수 있도록 확장하고, 이를 바탕으로 서비스를 신속하게 배포하는 기법을 제공한다.

BaaS(Blockchain as a Service) 선정을 위한 의사결정 모델 (A Decision-making Model for Selection of Blockchain as a Service)

  • In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, new technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud, Internet of Things, and blockchain are being developed and applied to new industries. Blockchain has the characteristics of decentralization, security, and transparency, so it can serve as a core technology for developing new growth industries. Blockchain is provided as BaaS (Blockchain as a Service), but it is not easy for users who are introducing or building blockchain to choose BaaS. In this study, we identify evaluation factors and develop a decision-making model using fuzzy theory and AHP for BaaS selection. Eventually we aim to help companies choose the best BaaS and develop and commercialize blockchain-based services by developing a new decision-making model for BaaS selection.

PBFT Blockchain-Based OpenStack Identity Service

  • Openstack is widely used as a representative open-source infrastructure of the service (IaaS) platform. The Openstack Identity Service is a centralized approach component based on the token including the Memcached for cache, which is the in-memory key-value store. Token validation requests are concentrated on the centralized server as the number of differently encrypted tokens increases. This paper proposes the practical Byzantine fault tolerance (PBFT) blockchain-based Openstack Identity Service, which can improve the performance efficiency and reduce security vulnerabilities through a PBFT blockchain framework-based decentralized approach. The experiment conducted by using the Apache JMeter demonstrated that latency was improved by more than 33.99% and 72.57% in the PBFT blockchain-based Openstack Identity Service, compared to the Openstack Identity Service, for 500 and 1,000 differently encrypted tokens, respectively.

  • With the development of blockchain technology, the scope of blockchain applications has expanded rapidly. Blockchain decentralization allows transaction participants to make transparent and safe transactions without a third trust agency. A distributed ledger-based system enables transparent and trusted business for anonymous users. For this reason, many companies apply blockchain to various fields such as logistics, electronic voting, and real estate. Despite this interest, there are still not enough case studies confirming the potential of blockchain as a concrete business model. Therefore, it is necessary to study how blockchain technology can change the existing business model and connect it to a new business model. In this paper, we propose blockchain-based business models and workflow types in various fields such as healthcare, logistics, and energy. We also present application cases. We expect to help companies apply blockchain to their business.

  • Recently, data security and convenience are critical requirements to the interaction and collaboration of tourism service systems for the tourism industry. However, there are still many challenges for current tourism service systems to fulfill these requirements since they have inconsistent structures with different access control models and security policies. Blockchain has the potential to evolve the conventional tourism industry benefiting by its unique features such as data privacy and transparency. This paper mainly aims the interworking mechanism of heterogenous blockchain platforms for secure tourism service. We propose interworking scheme to connect multi-blockchain platforms for enhancing data integrity in the tourism industry. A proof of concept design and implement based on Hyperledger Fabric and Winding Tree.

A Trusted Sharing Model for Patient Records based on Permissioned Blockchain

  • As there has been growing interests in PHR-based personalized health management project, various institutions recently explore safe methods of recording personal medical and health information. In particular, innovative medical solution can be realized when medical researchers and medical service institutes can generally get access to patient data. As EMR data is extremely sensitive, there has been no progress in clinical information exchange. Moreover, patients cannot get access to their own health data and exchange it with researchers or service institutions. It can be operated in terms of technology, yet policy environment are affected by state laws as well as Privacy and Security Policy. Blockchain technology-independent, in transaction, and under test-is introduced in the medical industry in order to settle these problems. In other words, medical organizations can grant preliminary approval on patient information exchange by using the safely encrypted and distributed Blockchain ledger and can be managed independently and completely by individuals. More apparently, medical researchers can gain access to information, thereby contributing to the scientific advance in rare diseases or minor groups in the world. In this paper, we focused on how to manage personal medical information and its protective use and proposes medical treatment exchange system for patients based on a permissioned Blockchain network for the safe PHR operation. Trusted Model for Sharing Medical Data (TMSMD), that is proposed model, is based on exchanging information as patients rely on hospitals as well as among hospitals. And introduce medical treatment exchange system for patients based on a permissioned Blockchain network. This system is a model that encrypts and records patients' medical information by using this permissioned Blockchain and further enhances the security due to its restricted counterfeit. This provides service to share medical information uploaded on the permissioned Blockchain to approved users through role-based access control. In addition, this paper presents methods with smart contracts if medical institutions request patient information complying with domestic laws by using the distributed Blockchain ledger and eventually granting preliminary approval for sharing information. This service will provide an independent information transaction and the Blockchain technology under test will be adopted in the medical industry.

비정형 빅데이터를 이용한 난수생성용 블록체인 오라클 (Blockchain Oracle for Random Number Generator using Irregular Big Data)

  • 블록체인 2.0은 프로그래밍 가능한 스마트계약을 사용하여 다양한 DApp(Distributed Application) 개발을 지원한다. 하지만 스마트계약이 동작하는 환경은 블록 높이, 블록 해쉬, 트랜잭션 해쉬 등 결정된 데이터만 접근할 수 있어서 블록체인 기반 복권, 배팅, 키 생성 등 난수를 필요로 하는 응용은 블록체인 외부에서 데이터를 가져 올 수 있는 오라클 서비스를 이용해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 난수 생성 오라클 서비스를 개발하였다. 또한 난수 생성을 위해 비정형 빅데이터를 entropy source로 사용하였다. 이렇게 생성된 난수를 NIST SP800-22 난수 테스트하여 난수로 사용할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, 물리적 세계를 entropy source로 사용하는 기존의 진성난수 생성기에 비해서 비용측면에서 유리함을 설명한다.

출입문 보안을 위한 블록체인 기반의 출입코드키 검증 서비스 모델 (An Access Code Key for Verification Service Model on the Blockchain in a Door Security)

  • The access control system is a system that allows users to selectively enter the building by granting an access key to the user for security. Access keys with weak security are easily exposed to attackers and cannot properly perform the role that authenticates users. Access code keys should be protected from forgery or spoofing. For this reason, access key verification service models is important in security. However, most models manage all access keys on one central server. This method not only interrupts all services due to server errors, but also risks forgery and spoofing in the process of transmitting access keys. Therefore, blockchain algorithms are used to reduce this risk. This paper proposes a blockchain-based access key verification service model that used distributed stored blockchain gateways on storing access keys and authenticates the user's identity based on them. To evaluate the performance of this model, an experiment was conducted to confirm the performance of the access key forgery recovery rate and the blockchain network performance. As a result, the proposed method is 100% forgery recovery rate, and the registration and verification process is evaluated at 387.58 TPS and 136.66 TPS.

Extending the BR2K technique to enhance the robustness of blockchain application services

  • 본 논문에서는 블록체인 응용 서비스의 견고성을 제고하기 위한 BR2K 기법의 확장 방법을 제안한다. BR2K(Blockchain application, Replication & Recovery technique using Kubernetes) 기법은 서비스 복제와 신속 재가동을 통해 블록체인 서비스의 견고성을 지원하기 위하여 최근에 개발된 기법이다. 제안하는 기법은 기존 BR2K 기법을 확장하여 서비스 상태에 대한 메타 정보인 상태 버전 및 이를 안전하게 관리하기 위한 방법을 제공하고, 이를 이용하여 서비스 상태 복구에 대한 시점을 결정한다. 또한 이 기법은 BR2K 기법에서 서비스 복구 센터 역할을 수행하는 서비스 레지스트리와 상태 버전 정보를 활용하여 서비스 복구와 새로운 서비스 노드의 합류를 위한 체계적인 서비스 상태 백업을 제공한다. 이를 바탕으로 새로운 서비스 노드가 일관성을 가지며 새로운 복제 서비스에 합류하도록 지원할 수 있으며, 그 결과 새로운 서비스 노드가 운영 중인 BR2K 서비스에 신속하게 추가될 수 있어 서비스의 견고성이 제고된다. 또한 시범적인 블록체인 응용 서비스에 확장된 기법을 적용하고 가상 머신으로 구성된 쿠버네티스 환경에서 이를 테스트하여, 장애 상황 속에서 서비스 복제의 일관성과 신속한 서비스 복구에 대한 유효성을 확인한다.

블록체인 기반 반려견 거래 서비스 DApp (Blockchain-Based Pet Trade Service DApp)

  • Blockchain is a distributed network in a decentralized P2P infrastructure. In this paper, we propose and implement a blockchain-based pet trade service DApp(Decentralized Application). In the existing trading services, there is no way to know the status of dogs in interpersonal transactions and an additional distribution cost has been incurred. As a solution to this problem, we introduce a blockchain technology for a pet trade service where users can check whether an individual pet is healthy or not by its registered biometric data in order to have an efficient and confident trade service. The registered users can purchase puppies or registering information for their dogs to sell through a pet trade service DApp. It is also possible to make a reliable trade by verifying whether the dog is actually the same one through an inscription information of a dog.
