The purpose of this study is to obtain an improved interpretation of heat transfer phenomena between blocks and fluids in the parallel conducting plates. Flow is two-dimensional, incompressible steady laminar flow over rectangular blocks, representing finite heat source on parallel plate. Heat transfer phenomena, temperature of blocks and heat transfer into the flow field are investigated for different spacings between blocks and Reynolds numbers. Results indicate that Nusselt number on the far upstream corner of the block was higher than that of any part of the block. As Reynolds number and spacings of blocks increased, Nusselt number increased. The distribution of local Nusselt number on the top surface of the conducting plate is similar to the case with insulated plate. Temperature of the block which has heat source in half cubage was approximately twice as high as temperature of the block which has heat source in whole cubage. As Reynolds number and spacings of blocks increased, overall temperature decreased. The peak value of block temperature occurred at position shifted to the right or upper right from center. The maximum temperature of block can be expressed as a function of Reynolds number, spacings between blocks, position of maximum temperature of each block and then it is possible to predict the maximum temperature of blocks.

A volume density of roughness correction blocks in a channel is defined and the corresponding roughness coefficient(n) is estimated by analyzing the diverse hydraulic characteristics of VR, the product of the average velocity and the hydraulic radius, block Reynolds number ($Re^*$), drag coefficient ($\acute{C}_D$), and the roughness coefficient ($n_b$) of bottom shear. The increase of VR and block Reynolds number causes the exponential decrease of roughness coefficient converged to a constant value as expected. The drag coefficient also exponentially decreases as block Reynolds number increases as well. The drag force is governed by the block shape defined by volume density in high block Reynolds number of turbulent flow region. For more accurate estimation of roughness coefficient the use of the correlation equation of it is required by block Reynolds number and volume density. The regression equations for n-VR, $\acute{C}_D-Re^*$, and $n_b-\acute{C}_D$ are presented. The regression equations of roughness coefficient are also presented by block Reynolds number and volume density. The developed equation of roughness coefficient by block Reynolds number and volume density has practical use by confirming the coincidence between the experimental results and the results of HEC-RAS using the developed equation.

The interaction of laminar mixed convection and surface radiation in a two-dimensional channel with an array of rectangular blocks is analyzed numerically. Three blocks are maintained at high temperature and the other bottom and top horizontal walls are insulated. Discrete ordinate method(DOM) is introduced to analyze the radiative heat transfer. The effects of the variations of Reynolds number and channel specifications on the heat transfer characteristics are investigated. The average Nusselt numbers along the block surfaces are correlated and presented in terms of Reynolds number and dimensionless geometric parameters such as the block spacing, height and channel spacing. For the conditions considered in this study, average Nusselt numbers along the block surfaces are strongly influenced by the channel spacing and Reynolds number but weakly influenced by the block spacing and block height.

The interaction of turbulent mixed convection and surface radiation in a three-dimensional channel with the heated blocks is analyzed numerically. Two blocks are maintained at high temperature and the other bottom and horizontal walls are insulated. S-4 method is employed to calculate the effect of the radiative heat transfer. The low Reynolds number k-$\varepsilon$ model proposed by Launder and Sharma is used to estimate the turbulent influence on the heat transfer enhancement. From above modeling, the effects of various channel specifications on the flow and heat transfer characteristics are investigated. The variables used for the present study are Reynolds number, block spacing, the channel height spacing for block and the emissivity. Average Nusselt numbers along the block surfaces are correlated and presented in terms of Reynolds number, emissivity and dimensionless geometric parameters. For the range of conditions in this study, average Nusselt numbers along the block surfaces are strongly influenced by the Reynolds numbers and channel height spacing for block but weakly influenced by the block spacing and the emissivity of the adiabatic walls.

An experimental investigation on heat transfer characteristics of two-dimensional heated blocks using a confined impinging slot jet has been performed. The effect of jet Reynolds number(Re=3900, 5800, 9700), streamwise block spacing(p/w=0.5, 1, 1.5) and dimensionless nozzle to block distance(H/B=1, 2, 4, 6) have been examined with five isothermally heated blocks. With the measurement of jet mean velocity and turbulence intensity distributions at nozzle exit, initially turbulent regimes, are classified. To clarify local heat transfer characteristics, naphthalene sublimation technique as used. The maximum Nusselt number at the stagnation point for the jet Reynolds number is occurred at H/B=4. Besides, the local and a average heat transfer of heated blocks increase with decreasing streamwise block spacing and increasing jet Reynolds number.

The experimental study on heat transfer characteristics of protruding heated block array as conducted to investigate and to compare the performance of impinging single circular jet in fully developed tube with a twisted tape as a swirl generator. The effects of jet Reynolds number(Re=8700, 13800, 20000. 26500), dimensionless jet-to-block distance(H/d=1. 3, 5. 7) and swirl number(S=0.11, 0.23, 0.30) of the swirl jet on the average Nusselt number for each block and all blocks have been examined. Measurements of heat transfer rate on block surfaces were used naphthalene sublimation technique. Mean velocity and turbulence intensity of the jet along the axis were measured. Potential core length of the jet was 5 times of nozzle diameter because it was fully developed and initially turbulent. With the twisted tape in the nozzle, heat transfer coefficients were higher than those without the twisted tape. which are mainly caused with increasing the jet Reynolds number and swirl number.
An experimental investigation on heat transfer characteristics of two-dimensional heated blocks using a confined impinging slot jet has been performed. At p/w=1, the effects of jet Reynolds number($Re=3900{\sim}12000$), dimensionless nozzle to block distance(H/B=1, 2, 4, 6) and nozzle type have been examined with five isothermally heated blocks. With the measurement of jet mean velocity and turbulence intensity distributions at nozzle exit, initially turbulent regimes, are classified. To clarify local heat transfer characteristics, naphthalene sublimation technique were used. The local and average heat transfer of heated blocks increase with the sharp-edged nozzle and increasing jet Reynolds number.
An experimental investigation of heat transfer characteristics at the surface of two-dimensional protruding heated blocks using confined impinging multiple slot jets has been performed. The effects of jet-to-jet distances(S=16B, 24B), dimensionless nozzle-to-block distances(H/B=2, 6) and jet Reynolds numbers(Re=2000, 3900, 5800, 7800) on the local and average heat transfer coefficients have been examined with five isothermally heated blocks at streamwise block spacing(p/w=1). To clarify local heat transfer characteristics, naphthalene sublimation technique was used. From the results, it was found that the local and average heat transfer of heated blocks increases with decreasing jet-to-jet distance and increasing jet Reynolds number. Measurements of local heat transfer coefficients have given an indication of the nature of the interaction between jets and of the uniformity of heat transfer obtainable with various arrangements. In the case of S/B=16, H/B=6 and Re=7800, maximum average Nusselt number of overall blocks was obtained.

The interaction of mixed convection and surface radiation in a printed circuit board(PCB) is investigated numerically. The electronic equipment is modeled by a two-dimensional channel with three hot blocks. In order to calculate the turbulent flow characteristics, the low Reynolds number k-.epsilon. model which is proposed by Launder and Sharma is applied. The S-4 approximation is used to solve the radiative transfer equation. The effects of the Reynolds number and geometric configuration variation of PCB on the flow and heat transfer characteristics are analyzed. As the results of this study, it is found that the thermal boundary layer occured at adiabatic wall in case with thermal radiation included, and the effect of radiation is also found to be insignificant for high Reynolds numbers. It is found, as well, that the heat transfer increases as the Reynolds number and block space increase and the channel height decreases and the heat transfer of vertical channel is greater than that of horizontal channel.
Water inrush through the destruction of water resisting rock mass structure was divided into direct water inrush, key block water inrush and splitting water inrush. In the direct water inrush, the Reynolds numbers has a significant effect on the distribution of the water flow and vortex occurred in the large Reynolds numbers. The permeability coefficient of the fracture is much larger than the rock, and the difference is between 104 and 107 times. The traditional theory and methods are not considering the effect of inertia force. In the position of the cross fracture, the distribution of water flow can only be linearly distributed according to the fracture opening degree. With the increase of Reynolds number, the relationship between water flow distribution and fracture opening is studied by Semtex.
