The purpose of this study is 1) to survey to identify how high school students think about career guidance and job and 2) to pursue effective career guidance. According to the survey result, first, most students have thought about their career. They chose friends as a counselor for their future. Among respondents, 39.84% of them said they did not consult with teachers. They said academic record is a stumbling block in choosing career. Second, many students responded career guidance should start at 'Junior High school'. 76.56% of respondents said they were lack of career guidance resources. With respect to career, an important subject was shown as the following order: social study, English, Korean, Science and Math. Third, students recognized the face that aptitude and ability should be the utmost important factors in choosing career. They chose mass media as a main source to gain information relative to career, which accounted for 52.34% and 20.31% for teachers. In the case of students who have rather 'poor'home background, teachers were the main sources for career information, whose proportion was relatively high. Forth, parents were the most influential people who helped students choose which high school to go(40.69%). In terms of scope of higher education, 65.63% said they wanted to graduate university. Students who has good academic records and good home environment wanted to pursue Master's or Doctor's degrees. 70.31% of respondents said they attended a high school just because they wanted to have a desired job.
Many hidden aspects of society around the world that has been lurking as risk factors have been ultimately connected to disasters. Such connection did not just stop with massive damages to properties and loss of lives but became a serious social issue. Especially in the case for Korea, because the country has gone through abrupt economic growth which has resulted in rapid urbanization and expansion of economic scale, Korea has been caught in a vicious cycle of experiencing human and social calamities repeatedly. Due to the seriousness of such problem, there's been continued research in various fields for managing disasters, and the domain of knowledge has been expanding with complexity. The following study went beyond the perspectives of disaster prevention study, disaster prevention engineering and social sciences suggested from previous research directions in disaster and disaster prevention, and attempted an alternative research method by approaching from a service design perspective. During the process, the paper looked over the summary on disaster and service design. By applying it on disaster prevention projects, the research sets forth and discusses effective and practical disaster prevention service design. Through specific case studies, the research methodology applied was verified, and the purpose of the study was carried out in the perspective of real world applications different from textbook type discussions. It is expected that through the disaster prevention service design process and platform that were discovered during the research result, defining and understanding disaster prevention service design will be made apparent. Additionally, the research is expected to be used as a basic building block for building a visualized plan for tangible and intangible factors related to disasters before the disaster process through such proposed disaster prevention service design.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the basic data such the total, the daily maximum, and the peak stage of consumptive use of water and also the soil moisture extraction pattern for irrigation plan of tobacco during the growing period. The plots at which this study was conducted are divided into three fertilization levels of 30g, 60g, and 90g. Each block for three levels is divided as vinyl mulching and irrigation plot, vinyl mulching and nonirrigation plot, and nonmulching and irrigation plot. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The evapotranspiration amount of mulching-irrigation plots are similar to that of mulching-nonirrigation plots. While, the evapotranspiration amount of mulching plots are different obviousely from that of nonmulching plots. Therefore, a significance was recognized between the mulching plots and the nonmulching plots. 2. The amount of evapotranspiration in case of 60g and 90g fertilization level was larger than that of 30g. But the 60g plots and the 90g plots showed little differences. 3. In the total amount of evapotranspiration for each of the experimental plots during the growing period, nonmulching-irrigation plot showed the largest value of 332.9mm, second the mulching-irrigation plot, 284. 9mm, and the mulching-nonirrigation plot, the smallest as 255. 9mm. 4. In the monthly average amount of evapotranspiration for each of the treatment plots, the mulching-irrigation the mulching-nonirrigation, and the nonmulching-irrigation plot showed 3. 6mm, 3. 2mm and 4. 2mm respectively. The daily maximum amount of evapotranspiration showed 5. 1mm, 4. 5mm, and 6.4mm for the mulching-irrigation, the mulching-nonirrigationl, and the nonmulching-irrigation plot respectively. 5. It was confirmed that the higher correlationship exists between the weight of dried leaves and the amount of evapotranspiration, and between the weight of dried leaves and the coefficient of evapotranspiration with the function of logarithms. The coefficient of evapotranspiration have a tendency to increase in proportion to the leaf area index. 6. The maximum coefficient of evapotranspration and the largest leaf area index showed 1. 45 and 5.5 respectively. The stage appeared maximum values was assumed to be before and after flowering. 7. The soil moisture extraction pattern has changed by the depth of root zone for the tobacco's growing. The soil moisture extraction influenced on the 20cm depth of soil after 15 days passed, the 30cm depth after 25 days passed and the whole root zone after 45 days passed from planting. It was shown in the only mulching-irrigation plot after S5days passed from planting that the rate of soil moisture extraction of 20cm layer was larger than that of 10cm layer.
A manure management plan is important for all daily operations. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of application level of liquid cattle manure on the soil properties and changes of BOD and COD content in run-off water at the mixtures swards of National Livestock Research Institute RDA Suweon in 1995. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design with five treatments consisting of no fertilizer chemical fertilizer application of 40, 60 and 80MT/ha as liquid cattle manure. The quantity of run-off for a no fertilizer was the highest of 1,469.4mm but that for a application level of liquid cattle manure of 60MT/ha was the lowest of 1,278.1mm. The change of BOD in run-off for a no fertilizer was the lowest of $19.84m{\ell}/{\;}{\ell}$, but that for a application level of liquid cattle manure of 80MT/ha was the highest of $36.22m{\ell}/{\;}{\ell}$. Change of COD in run-off for a no fertilizer was the lowest of $21.28m{\ell}/{\;}{\ell}$ but that for a application level of liquid cattle manure of 80MT/ha was the highest of $37.51m{\ell}/{\;}{\ell}$. Available phosphorus and total-N content of soil chemical properties was higher at liquid cattle manure than chemical fertilizer.

Recently, our construction industry is actively participating in numerous city planning projects in the third world countries. Considering the current depression of domestic real estate market, the emerging foreign demands could certainly provide substantial opportunities for the domestic industry to overcome the trough. For the field planners dealing with such foreign projects, though, the immediate problem is the lack of public statistics and geographic information to perform spatial analyses and/or prepare master plans. This study, in this context, tries to simulate a process to construct a digitized basemap of the case area, 'Bab Ezzouar,' in Algeria of Northern Africa. The area is a typical municipality that lacks the IT databases. To overcome the data shortage, the study uses the satellite map tiles so as to digitize the roads and building structures. It then estimates the block-wise populations based on the building image interpolation as well as the supplementary field survey data. The topographic TINs are also built by the SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) digital elevation maps so that the three-dimensional configuration of the structures and terrains are rendered to check the urban scenery and skylines.

A gigantic ship is constructed by assembling various types of ship blocks, each block being made by cutting and piecing the steel-plates together. The steel-plate piling process as the initial stage of ship construction sorts and manages the steel-plates according to the ship blocks that the steel-plates are used to make. The steel-plate piling process poses some problems such as process delay due to piling errors, safety vulnerability due to the handling of extra heavy-weight objects, and the uncertainty of work plan due to lack of information management in the pile spaces. We constructed a steel-plate piling process system based on the context-aware computing to resolve such problems. We built simulation system that can simulate the piling process and then established a smart space within the system by using tags, sensors and a real-time location system in order to collect context information. Workers receive an appropriate or intelligent service from the system.

"To be, or not to be?" This question is not only Hamlet's agony but also the dilemma of mitochondria in a cancer cell. Cancer cells have a high glycolysis rate even in the presence of oxygen. This feature of cancer cells is known as the Warburg effect, named for the first scientist to observe it, Otto Warburg, who assumed that because of mitochondrial malfunction, cancer cells had to depend on anaerobic glycolysis to generate ATP. It was demonstrated, however, that cancer cells with intact mitochondria also showed evidence of the Warburg effect. Thus, an alternative explanation was proposed: the Warburg effect helps cancer cells harness additional ATP to meet the high energy demand required for their extraordinary growth while providing a basic building block of metabolites for their proliferation. A third view suggests that the Warburg effect is a defense mechanism, protecting cancer cells from the higher than usual oxidative environment in which they survive. Interestingly, the latter view does not conflict with the high-energy production view, as increased glucose metabolism enables cancer cells to produce larger amounts of both antioxidants to fight oxidative stress and ATP and metabolites for growth. The combination of these two different hypotheses may explain the Warburg effect, but critical questions at the mechanistic level remain to be explored. Cancer shows complex and multi-faceted behaviors. Previously, there has been no overall plan or systematic approach to integrate and interpret the complex signaling in cancer cells. A new paradigm of collaboration and a well-designed systemic approach will supply answers to fill the gaps in current cancer knowledge and will accelerate the discovery of the connections behind the Warburg mystery. An integrated understanding of cancer complexity and tumorigenesis is necessary to expand the frontiers of cancer cell biology.
During last five years several workshops and seminars among social work educators, in and out country, has taken place. In those gatherings there has been, criticism on American model on which curriculum of social work in Korea has mainly based, and many proposals which most developing countries should consider and adopt for developing their own curriculums. The proposals could be summarized as follows; 1. Specification of developmental functions of social work should be made so that the curriculum could involve. It also must come from own societal needs and own national development task. 2. Social work should participate and make contribution to plan and solve the main social problems in own countries. 3. Clarification of educational objective in undergraduate level should be made and one of them must be related to the first professional degree. 4. There should be the courses which provide the content of macro level participation. How much of the proposals are reflected in the current curriculum of Korea? What are the problems Korean social work education has been faced in connection with reflecting the proposals? What kinds of task we should or could perform in order to adopt the proposals? These are the questions which deserved to be studied. The followings are the answers to the questions; 1. The new courses such as social welfare policy and planning, Social Development, Population Dynamics and Family Planning, Social problems, Special Issues in Social Welfare, etc, are placed in the curriculum. 2. Though the new courses are added the courses of case work, group work, and community organization are strongly remained it means that integrative method is not quite adopted and that conflicts are taking place between new and old fashion. 3. Fieldwork placement policy has been changes from concurrent to block and from social work method oriented to social problem oriented. 4. There are lack of integration among the all courses, of consistency between pre and post courses and connection among the related courses. 5. Establishment of image of social worker with B, A. degree should be urgently taken place. It can't be done by social work field alone but by cooperation with all the forces related to the social work practice. 6. B. A. graduate should have a common base of knowledge and competence. It could be come from the clear and specified objectives of undergraduate level education. And agreement among the member schools on the objectives can call on the fundamental similarities in each curriculums. Different programs from one school to another can be tolerated as long as there are fundamental similarities among the schools. Basic concepts and framework of social work should be kept clearly. It is a slow and long process to make social work recognized as a profession in the developing countries. Korea can't be and exception. Failure of having social work be indegenous can't be the reason to refuse an change the basic concepts of social work. One of he most important task which social work education in Korea must achieve in the near future is to establish the minimum requirement courses in the curriculum. Social work field, on the other hand, must find the positions for the social works in the various settings and institute. Clear role and image of social worker can be obtained by doing that.

Recently, water pollution accidents have continued to occur in pipelines such as red water Incheon and Seoul. In order to recognize this water quality problem, it is necessary to install a water quality sensor in an appropriate location and measure it in advance to detect or block the water supply to the water faucet of the shelter. However, there are limitations, such as maintenance costs, to installing multiple water meters in all pipelines. Therefore, this study proposed a methodology for determining and prioritizing the installation location of flow-based water quality sensor for the recognition of water quality problems in pipelines. We applied the proposed procedure to the pipe break scenario. The results of the determination of the location of the water quality sensor were presented by applying it to the pipe network that actually operates the emergency pipe in Korea. The result of the decision showed that in the event of abnormal situation caused by the destruction of individual pipes, the flow rate of the pipes around the aqueduct and the tank may change rapidly, resulting in water quality accidents caused by turbidity. In the future, it is expected that the water quality monitoring point selection method, such as establishing an external pipe operation plan for pipe cleaning, will utilize the procedure for determining the location of the water quality sensor according to the velocity.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate human thermal comfort by spatial structure and to explore solutions to improve the thermal environment of a small urban space. The study site was Korea University campus. Thermal conditions were measured to evaluate the quality of the thermal environment in each type of space within the study site. Micrometeorology measurements, analysis of space characteristics for using fish-eye lens photography, and thermal comfort modeling through the use of collected meteorological data, such as temperature and humidity, were performed. Results showed that the level of thermal comfort for humans differs depending on the types of space within the study site. Thermal comfort is better in open spaces than enclosed in the aspect of radiative mean temperature, Predicted Mean Vote(PMV), and Physiologically Equivalent Temperature(PET). This fact is probably due to shadows or buildings or trees that may block solar radiation. Thus, it is necessary to consider the spatial arrangements of buildings and trees to enhance openness and ventilation in the space. Paving materials and exterior building materials should also be selected to lower the radiant temperature. Given these results, a quantitative evaluation on human thermal comfort could propose a way to plan user comfortable small urban spaces. Study methods used and results provided in the study can promote a better way for urban space planning direction to improve environmental quality.
