  • ATC(Automatic Train Control) system employed in Bundang urban transit is operated in accordance with automatic blocking equipment. Using AF(Audio Frequency) track circuits installed at a block section, the block signal is automatically controlled and the safety of train operation is supported. In this paper, we investigate the operation mode of bundang urban transit and analyze the operation algorithm of ATC on-board system.

  • In this paper, as the first step to assess and enhance the reliability of Korea High Speed Train, electric traction system is selected and reliability analysis is carried out. The electric traction system is classified into subsystems and functional block diagrams and reliability block diagrams are drawn. Expressions to calculate the reliability are deducted and Mean Kilometer Between Service Failure is calculated using the trial test results on the track. Calculated results show reliability growth of the electric traction system.

  • In Auxiliary block of High speed train Power factor correction and Harmonics reduction is very important issue for efficient energy transport. The GTO-equipped PWM converter is used for traction untill resently. but the rising power capability of IGBTs resently allows to build IGBT-equipped PWM converter with a considerably increases switching frequency. In this paper presents switching pattern, control method, operation mode and tuned filter to reduce dc link voltage ripple for paralleled converter.

  • This paper presents a modelling of railway facilities and signalling system based on object-oriented software development technique to simulate multi-train movements on the complex railway network. Block and interlocking functions of signalling system is modelled using Node-Link model of railway network and signal control logic, which can be used to set the train routes and control the train movement. A brief explanation of class design about these model is provided.

  • Block Train Services(BTS) are actively studied in many countries for higher productivity and eco-friendly systems of inland freight distribution. However it is difficult for an ordinary student or researcher to approach for understanding and studying BTS because rail transport is operated monopolistically by Korea government and most freight information in each company belongs to its business secret due to the industrial characteristics. For such reasons, the study aimed to develop a BTS simulation model that it supports understanding and strategic decision required for BT operation. To build the result, expert depth-interviews were conducted with analysis of relative references through the domestic representative BT operating company K. The simulator refers to the Busan NewPort-Uiwang section and functionally, it supports scenario generation and analysis on BT operation. It makes a contribution to study a new type's technological application for learning and strategic analysis of BTS.

  • Block system has been used to protect trains from occupying the same section of track at the same time so that only one train is permitted in each block at a time. Domestic driving regulations on the block system is divided into two classifications, such as regular block and substitute block. If it is impossible to use this regulation, the block applied method can be applied. However, domestic urban railway administrator has established his own operation rule within the regulation. Therefore, in order to assure continuous safety of train in operation, it is necessary to strengthen the regulation as can cope with the various block systems. In this study, domestic urban railway administration's own rules are examined and the appropriate driving regulation on the block system is proposed.

  • The load characteristics of engine main bearing are very important in the design of crankshaft and engine block. The stiffness of crankshaft and block, or the optimal dimension of the bearing can be determined according to the load level. This paper presents the load characteristics of engine main bearing. Two components of the main bearing load are measured during engine firing and motoring. The vertical and horizontal load components are measured by using the dynamic load cell mounted in each main bearing cap bolt. The measured main bearing loads are compared with calculated results by using the statically determinate method. The theoretical results, provided in this study, agreed well with the experimental results. The presented results are very useful for achieving optimal design of engine.

  • In gear-train design, power-flow analysis is a very important process. The method for power-flow analysis apply the power balance equation and torque balance equation to each fundamental circuit. Then, the equation are solved simultaneously to determine the power-flow in planetary gear train. In this paper we perform power-flow analysis of a 6-speed automatic transmission. With this results are used to represent block diagram. In addition, the efficiencies of epicyclic inversion of the 6-speed automatic transmission is obtained.

  • As the on-board electric devices determine the performances of vehicles, production of reliable devices is important. To keep the reliability of devices constant, management of performance evaluation of the on-board devices is crucial. Because temperature bas a serious effect on failures of the components of the devices, its measurement is the first step for good management. In this study, we described performance characteristics of domestic auxiliary block developed through G7 project. We measured the performances of auxiliary block during test running by the developed on-line measurement system. After we save the input real-time data from each signal of Korean High Speed Train through the network line, we can acquire necessary information through Post-Processing program. We verify the auxiliary converter characteristics of Korean High Speed Train by this system.
