  • It is very difficult to determine the failure block scale in great rock slopes. Especially, postulating entire slope domain as a failure block without attention to discontinuity trace lenth makes very confuse and difficult to design rock slopes. In this paper, we estimate realistic failure block scale using joint system simulation method and introduce the application procedures on rock slope analysis. Besides, presenting how joint characteristics measurement and statistical analysis results are applicated to slope stability analysis design flow.

  • The IPSAP which is a finite element analysis program has been developed for high parallel performance computing. This program consists of various analysis modules - stress, vibration and thermal analysis module, etc. The M orthogonal block Lanczos algorithm with shiftinvert transformation is used for solving eigenvalue problems in the vibration module. And the multifrontal algorithm which is one of the most efficient direct linear equation solvers is applied to factorization and triangular system solving phases in this block Lanczos iteration routine. In this study, the performance enhancement procedures of the IPSAP are composed of the following stages: 1) communication volume minimization of the factorization phase by modifying parallel matrix subroutines. 2) idling time minimization in triangular system solving phase by partial inverse of the frontal matrix and the LCM (least common multiple) concept.

  • The Purpose of this study was to develop pattern drafting methods of the hip block and sleeve for female college students of 18 to 26 year-old. The study procedures and results were as follows ; 1. 313 female college students were measured, 17items were analyzed statisitcally. 2. New hip block and sleeve sloper were developed based on the result of the data analysis and fitting tests. 3. The sensory test was applied to evaluate the new hip block and sleeve sloper for female college student by comparing it with Japanese Bunka method sloper. According to statistical analysis of the result of 40items on the questionnaire, all the items showed significant difference($$a{\leq_-}0.01$$) between the two, with the new pattern having higher scores. The new drafting method proved to be better fitted at all 40items, and to be comfortable.

Use of stellate ganglion block for treatment of recurrent syncope followed by chest pain

  • Syncope is defined as a transient loss of consciousness and postural tone, characterized by rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous recovery. Stellate ganglion block (SGB) is a nerve block method that is used for treatment of neuropathic pain in the head, neck and upper extremities, especially trigeminal neuralgia, postherpetic neuralgia and complex regional pain syndrome. SGB can modulate and stabilize the sympathetic nervous system, which prevents it from overexcitation and improves symptoms of syncope. The authors report a patient who was treated for pain and edema of both upper extremities with SGB, then showed improvement in recurrent syncope followed by chest pain and overall quality of life.

  • In this study, the study was conducted to derive the utility of the safety management system applying block chain technology and big data technology to improve the problems of construction sites where concealment and operation of safety accidents occur. If block chain technology and big data technology are applied to construction safety management, transparent data can be collected, and based on the collected data, it is possible to predict accidents that can occur at the construction site and establish countermeasures. It can also be an opportunity to strengthen the safety awareness of construction workers and managers, and can clearly identify the responsibility in the event of a safety accident. This study suggests that the application of the 4th Industrial Revolution technology could be a great opportunity to innovate the construction industry which is less than other industries.

  • In this paper, as the first step to assess and enhance the reliability of Korea High Speed Train, electric traction system is selected and reliability analysis is carried out. The electric traction system is classified into subsystems and functional block diagrams and reliability block diagrams are drawn. Expressions to calculate the reliability are deducted and Mean Kilometer Between Service Failure is calculated using the trial test results on the track. Calculated results show reliability growth of the electric traction system.

  • Accurate and reliable tracking system is essential for the central train control system. There are two systems widely being used. one is the fixed block system which utilizes the track circuit for the detection of train position. the other is the moving block system which has the advantage over the former since it enables shorter radio signal for the train position detection. In this paper a new algorithm is proposed which uses signal's phase difference of arrival to detect the train position. Experimental verification of the algorithm is presented in the paper.

  • In this work, we evaluated the performance of soft iterative decoder with soft block decoder in optical storage system. Because optical storage system requires run- length limited code in general, adaptation of the soft decoders such as turbo code or LDPC(low density parity check code) is difficult without soft block decoders. The performance of the overall optical detection system is evaluated and the simplified channel detection is also proposed.

  • 최근 무선통신의 발달로 인하여 음성 서비스 이외의 동영상, 인터넷 서비스와 같은 보다 큰 전송률을 요구하는 다양한 서비스 요구가 급속도로 높아지고 있다. 고속 전송률 서비스를 낮은 가격으로 많은 사용자에게 제공하기 위해 제한된 통신자원을 이용하여 보다 많은 데이터를 전송할 수 있는 물리계층 기술이 필요하게 되어 직교 주파수 다중 방식인 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)과 다수의 송 수신 안테나를 이용하는MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output)시스템을 사용하게 되었다. MIMO 기술 중 Spatial Multiplexing은 전송용량 이득은 가질 수 있지만, 다수의 안테나로 인한 상관으로 인해 Diversity gain을 얻지 못하는 단점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 차세대 전송기술로 부각되고 있는 고속의 무선 데이터 전송기술 내에서, MIMO-OFDM 시스템인 SDM방식에서 Diversity gain을 얻고자 제안된 Multi-Block을 이용한 SDM의 성능에 대해 알아보고, 앞으로의 연구 방향에 대해 설명하고자 한다.

블록크기 및 균열의 기하학적 속성에 따른 2-D DFN 시스템의 블록수리전도도 특성 (Characteristics of Block Hydraulic Conductivity of 2-D DFN System According to Block Size and Fracture Geometry)

  • 본 연구는 블록크기 및 균열의 기하학적 속성이 균열암반의 수리적 특성에 미치는 효과를 파악하기 위해 이차원 등가파이프 연결구조에 기반을 둔 DFN 유체유동 해석기법을 적용하여 수치실험을 수행하였다. 두 개의 균열군을 사용하여 균열의 기하학적 속성 변화를 반영할 수 있도록 방향, 면적빈도, 길이분포를 달리하며 이차원 영역에 추계론적으로 생성한 총 72개의 DFN 블록에 대하여 방향에 따른 블록수리전도도가 산정되었다. 또한, 각각의 DFN 블록에서 이론적 블록수리전도도, 주 수리전도도텐서 및 평균블록수리전도도를 추정하여 비교분석한 결과, 블록크기 및 균열의 기하학적 속성은 균열성 암반의 수리적 특성에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 평가되었다. 균열군의 교차각이 작을수록, 면적빈도가 낮고 길이분포가 짧을수록 DFN 시스템은 유체유동에 대한 REV를 정의하기 어려우며 방향에 따른 블록수리전도도의 변동성이 강하게 나타났다. 일반적으로 블록크기가 커질수록 DFN 시스템에 대한 등가연속체 취급 가능성은 높아진다.
