  • Blind mismatch correction of time-interleaved analog-to-digital converters (TI-ADC) is a challenging task. We present a practical blind calibration technique for low-computation, low-complexity, and high-resolution applications. Its key features are: dramatically reduced computation; simple hardware; guaranteed parameter convergence with an arbitrary number of TI-ADC channels and most real-life input signals, with no bandwidth limitation; multiple Nyquist zone operation; and mixed-domain error correction. The proposed technique is experimentally verified by an M = 4 400 MSPS TI-ADC system. In a single-tone test, the proposed practical blind calibration technique suppressed mismatch spurs by 70 dB to 90 dB below the signal tone across the first two Nyquist zones (10 MHz to 390 MHz). A wideband signal test also confirms the proposed technique.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new trilateration technique based on exponential moving average (EMA) filter with adaptive signal model which enhances accuracy of positioning system even if the RSSI changes randomly due to movement of obstacles or blind node in indoor environment. In the proposed scheme, three fixed transmitters sent out the signal to blind node. The transmitter decides the location of the blind node based on RSSI and it estimates the cause of RSSI fluctuation which is interference of obstacle or movement of blind node. When the path between blind node and transmitter has become NLOS path because of obstacles, the transmitter ignores the measured RSSI in NLOS path and replace estimated RSSI in LOS environment. In the other case, the transmitter updated the new RSSI to represent of movement of blind node. The proposed scheme has been verified on a ZigBee testbed and we proved the improved positioning accuracy compared to the existing indoor position system.

  • Recently, joint blind equalization and carrier recovery for digital mobile transmission system is of growing interest. In this paper, we describe new receiver structure of joint godard blind equalizer and various recovery loop for QAM modulated signal. After a brief review of Godard blind equalizer and MAP estimation Costas loop, Generalized Costas loop, Leclert loop, Angular form loop, we present two kinds of receiver structures for joint blind equalization and carrier recovery. Using a Monto Carlo simulation technique, we can confirm that two kinds of receiver structures operate very well in the steady state.

  • We address the problem of Blind Source Separation(BSS) of superimposed signals in situations where one signal has constant or slowly varying intensities at some consecutive locations and at the corresponding locations the other signal has highly varying intensities. Independent Component Analysis(ICA) is a major technique for Blind Source Separation and the existing ICA algorithms fail to estimate the original intensities in the stated situation. We combine the advantages of existing sparse methods and Kernel ICA in our technique, by proposing wavelet packet based sparse decomposition of signals prior to the application of Kernel ICA. Simulations and experimental results illustrate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed approach. The approach is general in the way that it can be tailored and applied to a wide range of BSS problems concerning one-dimensional signals and images(two-dimensional signals).

  • This paper proposes an abnormal V-shaped-error-free non-blind deconvolution technique featuring an adaptively segmented forward-problem based iterative deconvolution (ASDCN) process. Unlike the algebraic based inverse operations, this eliminates any operations of differential and division by zero to successfully circumvent the issue on the abnormal V-shaped error. This effectiveness has been demonstrated for the first time with applying to a real analysis for the effects of the Random Telegraph Noise (RTN) and/or Random Dopant Fluctuation (RDF) on the overall SRAM margin variations. It has been shown that the proposed ASDCN technique can reduce its relative errors of RTN deconvolution by $10^{13}$ to $10^{15}$ fold, which are good enough for avoiding the abnormal ringing errors in the RTN deconvolution process. This enables to suppress the cdf error of the convolution of the RTN with the RDF (i.e., fail-bit-count error) to $1/10^{10}$ error for the conventional algorithm.

  • Many machine failures are not detected well in advance due to the masking of background noise and attenuation of the source signal through the transmission mediums. Advanced signal processing techniques using adaptive filters and higher order statistics have been attempted to extract the source signal from the measured data at the machine surface. In this paper, blind deconvolution using the eigenvector algorithm (EVA) technique is used to recover a damaged bearing signal using only the measured signal at the machine surface. A damaged bearing signal corrupted by noise with varying signal-to-noise (s/n) was used to determine the effectiveness of the technique in detecting an incipient signal and the optimum choice of filter length. The results show that the technique is effective in detecting the source signal with an s/n ratio as low as 0.21, but requires a relatively large filter length.

  • Emergency Warning Service will be the most important service of VANET. Transmission delay is the most important performance criteria of the warning service. Most legacy research takes a way to minimize the packet collision. However those approach has a critical weak point on urban environment where there is a blind area of electric wave. So another issue is required in order to provide enhanced warning message propagation technique to overcome the urban environment problem. In this paper, I proposed an enhanced warning message propagation scheme in the poor electric wave environment as the intersection area. Proposed scheme forwards the warning message to the blind area by enhanced forwarding node selection technique. For efficiency of warning message propagation, I suggest forwarding priority for decision of forwarding node. And the node has a direct mode or redirect mode depending on neighbor nodes. The simulation was carried out to evaluate the performance. The simulation results show that proposed scheme has the superior performance compared to legacy warning message technique.

  • A blind interference canceller in the presence of subchipspaced multipath channels for direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) down-link system is considered. This technique is based on combining the existing blind interference canceller with a technique that involves assigning subchip-tap spacing to the Rake receiver. The proposed receiver minimizes the receiver’s output energy subject to a constraint in order to mitigate the multiple access interference (MAI) along each multipath component, and then suboptimally combining all the multipath components. Moreover, it is able to mitigate the mismatch problem when subchip-spaced multipath components arrive at the blind interference canceller. It is known that optimal combining techniques perform a decorrelation operation before combining, which requires both knowledge and computational complexity. In the following, we have adopted a simpler but suboptimum approach in the combining of the suppressed signals at the output of our proposed receiver. Computer simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed receiver to handle subchip-spaced multipath components and still suppresses MAI significantly.

  • Blind techniques without the help of training sequences are able to detect the information signal which has the minimal information of desired user. In this paper, we proposed the blind multiuser detector using the hybrid cost function to cancel the multiple user interference in direct sequence code division multiple access systems. The cost function of proposed blind multiuser detector is the hybrid type which joints both least mean square(LMS) algorithm and least mean fourth(LMF) algorithm. We evaluate the bit error rate(BER) performance of proposed blind multiuser detector under additive white Gaussian noise channel. Simulation results show that the proposed blind detector has an about 3dB of signal to noise ratio more than blind minimum output energy(MOE) multiuser detector under existing active user 20.

  • This paper presents the computerised simulation of colour-blindness and proposes a colour enhancement technique to aid colour-blinded people to use Visual Display Units (VDU). With the red-green colour perception difficulties, the ISH model has been used to develop the algorithms. The simulator and colour enhancement have been tested by colour-blind people and compared to existing simulators for colour-blindness.
