This paper introduces nonlinear estimators with reduced complexity, and proposes the Bussgang blind equalization algorithm employing the nonlinear estimators. The proposed algorithm utilized the facts that the Bayesian estimator is well approximated to the sigmoid estimator in initial stage of equalization with closed eye and is well approximated to the threshold estimator under open eye condition. The proposed method adopts selectively one of the two nonlinear estimators, i.e., the sigmoid estimator and the threshold estimator, according to channel distortion level at each iteration. As a result, by using the sigmoid estimator with reduced constellation, the proposed scheme, as it is applied to blind equalization of high-order QAM signals, simplifies the computational complexity extremely, and enhances the blind convergence capability and steady-state performance.

This paper suggests an estimation method of the source signal and the channel impulse response (CIR) using ray-based blind deconvolution (RBD) in the underwater acoustic channel environment where Doppler effect exists by the relative motion between source and receiver. It is difficult to estimate the CIR on Doppler effect by the matched filter with a highly Doppler-sensitive waveform such as the m-sequence signal because Doppler shift can severely degrade the correlation between the received signal corrupted by Doppler effect and the original source signal. In this study, the Doppler-shifted source-signal's phase is estimated using the RBD, and the received signal is compensated by it to obtain the Doppler-corrected CIR. It is verified that using the matched filter with the received signal from the experimental data fails to estimate the CIR while the obtained CIR by the suggested method has the similarity to the propagation path of the ray model. Also, the results show that the reconstructed source signal using the RBD has the better Doppler shift compensation than the Doppler-shifted source signal derived from scattering function.

본 논문에서는 음원에 관한 정보가 미지의 상황에서 마이크로폰 어레이를 사용하여 두 음원신호를 분리하는 ,시스템을 제안한다 이 시스템은 두 단계로 구성되어 있으며, 첫 번째 단계에서는 파워가 큰 제 1음원의 DOA(Direction Of Arrival)를 추정하고, AMUSE(Algorithm for Multiple Unknown Signals Extraction)법을 사용한 Blind Deconvolution에 의해 음원신호의 분리를 행한다 두 번째 단계에서는 파워가 낮은 제 2음원의 강조신호를 사용하여 DSA(Delay and Sum Array)법에 의해 제 2음원의 DOA를 추정하고,AMUSE법의 출력신호와 두 음원의 DOA를 이용하여 ANF(Adaptive Notch Filter)를 구성하고, 두 음원신호의 재 분리를 행한다. 그리고, 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안한 방법의 유효성을 검토한 결과 두 음원 신호가 분리 가능한 것이 확인되었다.

In recent years, many sparse estimation methods, also known as compressed sensing, have been developed. However, most of these methods presume that the measurement matrix is completely known. We develop a new blind maximum likelihood method-the expectation-sparse-maximization (ESpaM) algorithm-for models where the measurement matrix is the product of one unknown and one known matrix. This method is a variant of the expectation-maximization algorithm to deal with the resulting problem that the maximization step is no longer unique. The ESpaM algorithm is justified theoretically. We present as well numerical results for two concrete examples of blind channel identification in digital communications, a doubly-selective channel model and linear time invariant sparse channel model.
This paper presents an algorithm for passive localization of a ship by applying the ray back-propagation technique to the ship radiation noise data. The previous method [S. H. Abadi, D. Rouseff and D. R. Dowling, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 131, 2599-2610 (2012)] estimates the position of a sound source in the near-field environment with no array tilt by using the RBD (Ray-based Blind Deconvolution) and ray back-propagation techniques. However, when there exists an array tilt, the above method leads to a large position estimation error. In order to overcome the problem, this study proposes an algorithm that estimates the position of a sound source by correcting the array tilt using the RBD and ray back-propagation techniques. The proposed algorithm was verified by using the ship noise of SAVEX15 (Shallow-water Acoustic Variability EXperiment in 2015) experimental data.
Passive source depth estimation has been studied for decades since the source depth can be used for target classification, target tracking, etc. The purpose of this paper is to solve the problem of ambiguity in the previous paper [S.-il. Cho et al. (in Korean), J. Acoust. Soc. Kr. 38, 120-127 (2019)] that source depth is estimated in two points. The patterns of phase shift of Channel Impulse Response(CIR) reflected in ocean surface and bottom is used for removing ambiguity of the source depth estimation, and after removing ambiguity, source depth is estimated at one point through the intersection of CIR. In order to extract CIR in case of unknown source signal and continuous signal or noise, Ray-based blind deconvolution is used. The proposed algorithm is demonstrated through numerical simulation in ocean waveguide.

In this paper, an adaptive iterative algorithm is proposed for motion deblurring by using the salient intensity prior. Based on the observation that the salient intensity of the clear image is sparse, and the salient intensity of the blurred image is less sparse during the image blurring process. The salient intensity prior is proposed to enforce the sparsity of the distribution of the saliency in the latent image, which guides the blind deblurring in various scenarios. Furthermore, an adaptive iteration strategy is proposed to adjust the number of iterations by evaluating the performance of the latent image and the similarity of the estimated blur kernel. The negative influence of overabundant iterations in each scale is effectively restrained in this way. Experiments on publicly available image deblurring datasets demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves state-of-the-art deblurring results with small computational costs.

Existing barcode signal restoration algorithms are not robust to unmodeled outliers that may exist in scanned barcode images due to scratches, dirts, etc. In this paper, we describe a robust barcode signal restoration algorithm that uses the hybrid $L_1-L_2$ norm as a similarity measure. To optimze the similarity measure, we propose a modified iterative reweighted least squares algorithm based on the one step minimization of a quadratic surrogate function. In the simulations and experiments with barcode images, the proposed method showed better robustness than the conventional MSE based method. In addition, the proposed method converged quickly during optimization process.
