A hybrid algorithm for classifying rock joints based on improved artificial bee colony and fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm

  • This study presents a hybrid algorithm for classifying the rock joints, where the improved artificial bee colony (IABC) and the fuzzy C-means (FCM) clustering algorithms are incorporated to take advantage of the artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm by tuning the FCM clustering algorithm to obtain the more reasonable and stable result. A coefficient is proposed to reduce the amount of blind random searches and speed up convergence, thus achieving the goals of optimizing and improving the ABC algorithm. The results from the IABC algorithm are used as initial parameters in FCM to avoid falling to the local optimum in the local search, thus obtaining stable classifying results. Two validity indices are adopted to verify the rationality and practicability of the IABC-FCM algorithm in classifying the rock joints, and the optimal amount of joint sets is obtained based on the two validity indices. Two illustrative examples, i.e., the simulated rock joints data and the field-survey rock joints data, are used in the verification to check the feasibility and practicability in rock engineering for the proposed algorithm. The results show that the IABC-FCM algorithm could be applicable in classifying the rock joint sets.

  • 많은 사람이 "다음 생에 성적 소수자나 이주민, 장애인으로 태어나고 싶니?"라는 질문을 받는다면 대부분 사람은 선뜻 "그렇다"라고 대답하기 어렵다. 그 근본적인 이유는 질문 속 사회적 약자들은 사회에서 다양한 불평등을 마주하고 있다는 의미일 것이다. 본 논문에서는 여러 소수자 중 시각장애인을 위한 보행 보조 기구를 제작하였다. 시각장애인들이 사용하는 지팡이는 지면의 장애물 파악에 도움은 되지만 공중에 떠 있는 장애물을 파악하고 피하기 어렵다. 이러한 단점을 보완하고자 라이다 센서를 이용하여 장애물 감지가 가능한 서비스를 시각장애인에게 제공한다. 라이다 센서는 레이저 광원을 방출하여 목표물에서 튕겨 되돌아오는 특성을 이용하여 사용자에게 전방에 장애물이 감지되면 시각장애인에게 TTS로 경고음을 제공한다.

Clinical effect of 3.0% Hydrogen peroxide bleaching patch with primer (프라이머를 이용한 3.0% 과산화수소 미백 패치의 임상효과)

  • Purpose The The purpose of this study was to clinically evaluate the efficacy and safety of a self-whitening patch containing a primer containing taurine and 3.0% hydrogen peroxide. Methods A double-blind randomized clinical trial was conducted on 55 subjects. The whitening patches containing 3.0% hydrogen peroxide were applied to the labial surfaces of maxillary six anterior teeth once daily for 30 minutes using a primer, and whitening efficacy was measured by △E* values before application and at 3, 5, 7, and 10 days after application. Stability was determined using the Gingival index (GI) and visual analogue scale (VAS). Results Changes in △E* values were clinically recognizable as early as day 5 after patch application, and whitening effects were visible by day 7. There was no statistically significant difference in gingival index (p=0.069). Conclusions Self-whitening patches using primer and 3.0% hydrogen peroxide applied once daily for 30 minutes showed effective whitening effect from the 5th day after application and could be used safely without significant side effects.

  • 시각 장애인들의 시각 정보에 대한 낮은 접근성은 문화, 예술 활동에 큰 제약을 가져다 주고 있다. 실제로 시각 장애인 중 약 절반 이상이 문화, 여가생활에 만족하지 못한다고 답하였고 전시회, 미술품 감상 또는 관람 활동은 약 5%만이[1] 참여하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위해 시각이라는 감각의 한계를 뛰어넘어 시각 미디어를 즐길 수 있게 하는 서비스를 제작하였고, 이는 크게 웹서비스인 web view editor와 물리적인 촉각 디스플레이로 구성된다. 시각 미디어인 이미지는 8×8로 나눠 각 영역을 OpenCV 라이브러리와 K-means clustering 알고리즘을 이용하여 9 level로 분류시키고, 구분된 level에 맞게 cell의 높낮이 차이를 두기 위하여 Arduino를 통한 회전-선형 변환기를 제작했다. Arduino의 PWM 기능을 이용해 모터의 속도와 방향을 제어하며, 각 모터의 드라이버는 Arduino와 연결되어 있어 모터의 회전을 제어하게 했다. 결과적으로 본 연구에서는 cell의 높낮이 차이를 9 level로 구분하여 시각 정보를 촉각으로 수용할 수 있는 장치를 제작하였고, 이 장치를 통해 기존의 시각 장애인들이 문화 생활을 쉽게 향유하고 이를 바탕으로 창의성과 상상력을 증대시켜 더욱 밀접하게 사회와 연결되고 소통 할 수 있는 기회의 초석이 되기를 기대하는 바이다.

Development of Chatbot Self-Inspection Scenario for Structural Safety of Existing Reinforced Concrete Buildings (챗봇 활용 철근콘크리트 건축물 구조안전 자가점검 시나리오 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Due to the aging of a building, 38.8% (about 2.82 million buildings) of the total buildings are old for more than 30 years after completion and are located in a blind spot for an inspection, except for buildings subject to regular legal inspection (about 3%). Such existing buildings require users to self-inspect themselves and make efforts to take preemptive risks. The scope of this study was defined as the general public's visual self-inspection of buildings and was limited to structural members that affect the structural stability of old buildings. This study categorized possible damage to reinforced concrete to check the structural safety of buildings and proposed a checklist to prevent the damage. A damage assessment methodology was presented during the inspection, and a self-inspection scenario was tested through a chatbot connection. It is believed that it can increase the accessibility and convenience of non-experts and induce equalized results when performing inspections, according to the chatbot guide.

Factors Affecting the Depressive Mood Experience in Local Residents: Focusing on Gangseo-gu, Seoul (지역주민의 우울감 경험 영향요인: 서울특별시 강서구 지역을 중심으로)

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to promote their health by identifying factors that affect the depressive mood experience among local residents in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study analyzed using data from the 2022 Community Health Survey, which is conducted annually in Korea. The subjects of the study were 916 local residents in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Results: Through this study, the groups with a high level of depressive mood experience among local residents of Gangseo-gu were female, those with low income, those with chronic diseases, those with low subjective health level, and those who perceived their stress to be high. Conclusion: It is necessary for local medical institutions to identify those with low income in blind spots and connect them with community resources to provide necessary economic support. Additionally, regular and systematic management is needed to help local residents prevent and manage chronic diseases. There is a need to actively support local residents by providing stress management programs and various health-related education to local residents so that they can maintain and improve their health and lead healthy lives.

  • 자율운항선박(MASS)의 원격제어기술은 원격지에서 MASS를 원격제어자에 의해서 제어하기 위한 기술이다. 2023년도 현재 원격제어시스템의 통합구성이 완료되었고, 하반기부터는 해상실험을 통한 시스템 검증작업을 진행할 예정이다. 이러한 시스템 검증 이후에는 원격제어 시 발생할 수 있는 다양한 문제에 적극 대응할 수 있는 위기관리 기술의 개발이 필요하다. 현재 식별된 위기는 통신 두절에 따른 제어 불능, 간헐적 통신 불능에 따른 데이터 손실, 대용량 데이터 전송에 따른 제어명령과 제어응답 사이의 지연에 의한 선박조종의 어려움, 원격제어자의 인적오류에 의한 예상하지 못한 해양사고발생 가능성 등이다. 본 연구의 목적은 4가지 주요 요소(선박, 통신, 제어시스템, 원격 제어자)로 구성된 원격제어 시스템에서 발생 가능한 다양한 위기를 적극 억제할 수 있는 기법개발을 고찰하여 향후 원격제어기술 연구에 적용하기 위한 것이다. 특히, 통신 두절로 인한 암흑시간(blind time) 동안 원격제어 불능을 해결할 수 있는 위기대응 방법, 과도한 데이터 전송지연에 따른 위험수준 평가와 가시화 방법 등을 논의한다. 본 연구는 자율운항선박의 원격제어를 안전하게 지속가능한 상태에서 운영할 수 있는 기법의 적용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Pregabalin versus Gabapentin Efficacy in the Management of Neuropathic Pain Associated with Failed Back Surgery Syndrome

  • Objective : Failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS) is a common long-term complication following spine surgeries characterized by chronic persistent pain; different strategies of management were employed to deal with it. This clinical trial aims to compare the efficacy of Pregabalin and Gabapentin in the management of this condition. Methods : A double-blind, randomized, comparative study (clinical trial registry NCT05324761 on 11th April 2022) with two parallel arms with Pregabalin and Gabapentin were used in arms one and two, respectively. Visual analog scale was used for basal and endpoint assessment of pain. T-test and analysis of covariance were used to deal with different variables. A pairwise test was used to compare pairs of means. Results : Of 66 patients referred to the trial, 64 were eligible, with 60 patients completing the 30 days trial. Both pregabalin and gabapentin effectively reduce pain, with significant p-values of 0.001 for each group. However, the pregabalin group was superior to gabapentin in pain reduction (p=0.001). Gender was an insignificant factor (p=0.574 and p=0.445 for the pregabalin and gabapentin groups, respectively, with a non-significant reduction (p=0.393) for both groups in total. Location of stenosis before surgery and type of surgery performed show non-significant effect on pain reduction for both groups. Conclusion : Both pregabalin and gabapentin effectively and safely relieve neuropathic pain associated with FBSS; pregabalin was significantly more effective irrespective of the patients' gender.

  • This paper presents a new method for upmixing mono signal to stereo signal with guaranteeing high stereophonic image quality (SIQ) and large apparent source width (ASW). The proposed method consists of analysis phase and synthesis phase. In analysis phase, a mono signal is first decomposed into multiple sound sources by the use of high-rank nonnegative matrix factorization. Then the multiple sources are clustered into two groups based on tonality criterion. In synthesis phase, one group is directly fed into left and right channels while the other group is decorrelated before being fed into each channel. Subjective tests reveals that the proposed method gives listener high SIQ and large ASW with minimizing timbral distortions.

Current status and improvement strategies of emergency medical counseling service for overseas koreans (재외국민 응급의료상담 서비스의 이용 실태 및 서비스 향상방안)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the counseling status of overseas Koreans using emergency medical counseling services, identify frequently occurring types of diseases, explore approaches to emergency treatment guidance, and protect overseas Koreans from medical blind spots, thereby enhancing the quality of emergency medical counseling services. Methods: This study was approved by the Institutional Review Board of Kongju National University (KNU_IRB_2023-31), and data were collected and analyzed from 10,951 cases of emergency medical counseling services utilized by overseas Koreans from the National Fire Agency from 2018 to 2022. Results: Emergency medical consultation services for overseas Koreans included a majority of non-trauma patients, with medical consultations being predominant. Terrestrial patients commonly seek advice for internal medical symptoms, whereas maritime patients frequently present with trauma-related symptoms, with a higher incidence of cardiac arrest and altered consciousness cases at sea. The development of self-diagnostic tests based on internal medicine symptoms is necessary for terrestrial patients, whereas stakeholder education is required for maritime patients. Conclusion: Due to the different types of diseases occurring in terrestrial and maritime patients, emergency medical consultation services for overseas Koreans should be implemented according to the specific characteristics of each patient. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and disseminate response manuals that are tailored to medical and trauma-related symptoms.
