The flow and acoustic fields due to a vortex ring interaction with a rigid sphere are simulated numerically. The flow field is regarded as three-dimensional inviscid and incompressible. The vorticity is assumed to be concentrated inside the finite core of vortex filament. The vortex filament curve, described by parabolic blending curve function, is used to effectively solve the modified Biot-Savart equation. The interaction between a vortex ring and a rigid sphere using the parabolic blending curve is calculated. The trajectory of the vortex ring is obtained with several different initial positions between the ring and the sphere. The force variations acting on the sphere are calculated by using the boundary integral method. Finally, we can also obtain the acoustic signals at the far field observation positions from the force variations acting on the rigid surface. We can find that the dipole axis of the directivity patterns are rotated during the interacting phenomena.

This paper describes Facial Expression Explorer to search for the components of a facial expression and to map the expression to other expressionless figures like a robot, frog, teapot, rabbit and others. In general, it is a time-consuming and laborious job to create a facial expression manually, especially when the facial expression must personify a well-known public figure or an actor. In order to extract a blending ratio from facial images automatically, the Facial Expression Explorer uses Networked Genetic Algorithm(NGA) which is a fast method for the convergence by GA. The blending ratio is often used to create facial expressions through shape blending methods by animators. With the Facial Expression Explorer a realistic facial expression can be modeled more efficiently.

This study explores the impact of polymer blending on the mechanical properties and triboelectric energy harvesting capability of composite polymers. A multifunctional free-standing polymer blend composed of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA) was fabricated using a polymer casting method. Stress-strain analysis of the polymer blend revealed an enhanced stretchability of 308.4% with excellent transparency. Furthermore, triboelectric analysis revealed dynamic energy harvesting capabilities with impressive electrical voltage and current output of 50 V and 5 μA. These results represent a significant improvement compared to individual PVA and PDDA polymers and highlight the potential of polymer blending to enhance both mechanical and electrical properties for energy harvesting applications.
Polypropylene-ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer (PP-EVA) blends were prepared by mechanical blending using relatively semi-crystaline ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and polypropylene. In order to obtain dyeable PP fiber, PP-EVA blends were prepared using below 10wt.% of EVA and formed a filament by the melt spinning method. The resultant fibers had tensile strengh of 2∼3g/d, elongation of 330∼600%, initial modulus of 22∼46g/d, and exhibited markedly improved dyeing property.
Carbon nanofiber exhibits superior and often unique characteristics of mechanical, electrical chemical and thermal properties. In this study, For improvement of the mechanical properties of composites, carbon nanofiber reinforced hybrid composites was investigated. For the effect of dispersion, The dispersion methods of solution blending and mechanical mixing were used. The mixing of solution blending method was used using ultrasonic. Dispersion of carbon nanofiber was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). Mechanical properties were measured by universal testing Machine (UTM).
Curve-net interpolation surface is one of the most popular method in engineering design. Therefore it is supported with many commercial CAD/CAM system. However, construction algorithm of curve-net interpolation surfaces is rarely opened to the public because of its copy-right. In this paper we establish a construction algorithm of curve-net interpolation surface so called sweeping surface which especially concentrates on trajectory of cross-section curve. We also show the method which can construct sweeping surfaces as NURB or Bezier mathematical models. Surfaces having the form of standard mathematical models are very useful for the application of joining, trimming, blending etc. The proposed surface interpolation scheme consists of four steps; (1) preparation of guide curves and section curves, (2) remeshing guide curves and section curves, (3) blending section curves after deformation, and (4) determination of control points for sweeping surface using gordon method. The proposed method guarantee $G^1$-continuety, and construct the surface salifying given section curves and trajectory of section curves.
In this paper we propose an image enhancement technique based on histogram specification method over local overlapping regions referred as Local Histogram Specification. First, both reference and original images are splitted into local regions that each overlaps half of its adjacent regions and general histogram specification method is used between corresponding local regions of reference and original image. However it produces noticeable boundary effects. Linear weighted image blending method is used to reduce this effect in order to make seamless image and we also proposed new technique dealing with over-enhanced contrast areas. We satisfied with our experimental results that showed better enhancement accuracy and less noise amplifications compared to other well-known image enhancement methods. We conclude that the proposed method is well suited for motion detection systems as a responsible part to overcome sudden illumination changes.
This paper describes the method of how to improve the probability of the tracing stopping ratio which is the most important factor in Automatic Train Operation (ATO). Aspects of improving the performance of automatic driving, the followings are investigated and studied : Brake system maintanence method of vehicle, the need to improve braking system, test method of blending brakes, how to minimize the delay of commands for real-time control. In this study, we applied this method to prove the effectiveness in DAEJEON LINE1.
In this study, the effects of oxygen component in fuel and exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) method on the exhaust emissions has been investigated for a D.I. diesel engine. It was tested to estimate change of exhaust emission characteristics for the commercial diesel fuel and oxygenate blended fuel which has five kinds of blending ratio. Dimethoxy methane(DMM) contains oxygen component 42.5% in itself, and it is a kind of effective oxygenated fuel for reduction of smoke emission. It was affirmed that smoke emission was decreased with increasing of DMM blending ratio. But, NOx emission was increased compared with commercial diesel fuel. It was needed a NOx reduction counterplan that EGR method was used as a countermeasure for NOx reduction. It was found that simultaneous reduction of smoke and NOx emission was achieved with DMM blended fuel and cooled EGR method(1015%).
Since the quality of final products is significantly affected by the homogeneity of powder mixture, the powder blending process has been regarded as one of the critical pharmaceutical unit processes, especially for solid dosage forms. Accordingly, the monitoring to determine a blending process' end-point based on a faster and more accurate in-line/on-line analysis has attracted enormous attentions recently. Among various analytical tools, NIR (near-infrared) spectroscopy has been extensively studied for PAT (process analytical technology) system due to its many advantages. In this study, NIR spectroscopy was employed with an optical fiber probe for the in-line monitoring of fluid-bed blending process. The position of the probe, the ratio of binary powder mixture, the powder size differential and the back-flush period of the shaking bag were examined as principal process parameters. During the blending process of lactose and mannitol powders, NIR spectra were collected, corrected, calibrated and analyzed using MSC and PLS method, respectively. The probe position was optimized. A reasonable end-point was predicted as 1,500 seconds based on 5% RSD value. As a consequence, it was demonstrated that the blending process using a fluid-bed processor has several advantages over other methods, and the application of NIRS with an optical fiber probe as PAT system for a fluid-bed blending process could be high feasible.
