An experimental study on the effect of V-ring position and die chamfer shape on the die roll height in fine blanking tool (파인 블랭킹 금형의 V-링 위치 및 다이 챔퍼 형상이 다이 롤 높이에 미치는 영향에 관한 실험 연구)

  • It is very important to minimize the die roll height of gear, in order to maximize the shear cutting surface(tooth surface) of fine blanking. In this paper, the fine blanking tool sets were manufactured in order to study the die roll height according to V-ring position and die chamfer shape. They were constituted of the various die inserts and guide plate inserts with different die chamfer shape and different V-ring distance. The fine blanking experiment was conducted with the fine blanking tool sets and the die roll height of the gear samples was measured. It should be noted that die roll height on the fine blanked gear increased with increasing the V-ring distance and die chamfer angle.

  • This paper describes a research work of developing a computer-aided design and manufacturing of irregular shaped sheet metal product for blanking or piercing and bending operations. An approach to the system is based on the knowledge-based rules. Knowledge for the system is formulated from plasticity theories experimental results and the empirical knowledge of field experts, This system has been written in AutoLISp on the AutoCAD and in customer tool kit on the SmartCAM with a personal computer and is composed of nine modules which are input and shape treatment, flat pattern-layout, pro-processor module. Based on the knowledge-based rules, the system is designed by considering several factors, such as material and thickness of product complexities of blank geometry and punch profile sheet metal to give flat pattern and automatically account for the adjustment of bending allowances to match tooling requirements by checking dimensions and generating NC data automatically according to drawings of die-layout module. Results carried out in each module will provide efficiencies to the designer and the manufacturer of blanking or piercing and bending die in this field.

  • The aim of this dissertation is inferring factors controlling the complex strain behavior of the material and the characteristics of the Fine-Blanking in the most narrow area at the shear zone where we are performing the Fine-Blanking. And also this is for inspecting and presenting their uses and the possibilities to make the results data based in order to utilize easily. Therefore, to analyze of shere zone's strain behaviour, the Fine-Blanking process need to be modelled defining the quadratic-nodded and axi-symmetrical elements as the problems of large deformation axi-symmetry and the non-linear contact. For the method of inputting strain-stress values of the material, the piece-wise linear technics were used, the Implicit-Finite Element method also used making balance of forces on each step by the long intervals, calculates and converges many times was done. The materials used for the analysis was the Steel SNCM220 5.5mm respectively. As the result of FEM analysis, we know that shear stress value in the beginning of punch penetration is distributed widely and done high both in the center of the late-thickness and on the both sides centering around shear strain zone as the punch penetration is increasing.   • Much labor, an exceedingly long lead time, and the skills of experienced engineers are required for press tool design. To reduce such problems, several CAD systems for blanking or piercing have been developed. This paper describes a computer-aided design for blanking or piercing of irregularly shaped sheet metal products. An approach to the system is based on knowledge base rules. The process planning & die design system is designed by considering several factors, such as complexity of blank geometry, punch profile, and availability of press equipment and standard parts. Therefore, after checking a production feasibility for irregular shaped sheet metal products, this system which is implemented strip layout module can carry out a process planning and generate the strip layout in graphic forms. Also this system implemented die layout module can carry out a die design for each process which is obtained form the result of an automated process planning and generate parts and assembly drawing of a die set.

  • A state purpose to produce fine blanking die gets to be the maximum size of share surface the study considered that change a size of share area. the clearance affecting most greatly size of share surface fixing as 1% of material thickness and while change share speed, A distance change from share line to V-ring center, A change of V-ring angle. it designed. Each test specimen taken from the share surface size analysis of the V-ring distance of 2mm, the outer $45^{\circ}$ / inner$30^{\circ}$ if the, Shear speed was found that the area of the entire cross section is largest the 6.4m/min.

  • An experiment is carried out to investigate the influences of shearing characteristic factors for the process design of lead frame blanking in copper alloy C194(t=0.205mm). 3 process parameters, e.g., clearance between die and punch, strip holding pressure, and bridge allowance are selected for this study. From the basis condition 6% clearance, 20N/$mm^2$, and 1.5t bridge allowance the seven times of experiment are done by varying the each factor. The square shape specimen is used to study the characteristics of shearing factors. The ratios of roll over, burnish, fracture zone are measured after blanking. The experimental analysis shows that the burnish ratio is decreased as the clearance increases. And the larger strip holding pressure is shown that the roll over and burnish ratio are both decreased. It is found that an optimal strip holding pressure is need for large burnish zone. Finally it is shown that the bridge allowance is less affected than clearance and strip holding pressure.

  • An experimental is carried out to investigate the characteristics of blanking for nickel alloy Alloy42 (t=0.203mm), a kind of IC lead frame material. By varying clearance between die and punch the shapes of shear profile are examined. Finite element analysis with element deletion algorithm for ductile fracture mode is also carried out to study the effect of clearance theoretically and to compare with experimental results. The rectangular shape specimen with four different comer radius is used to study the characteristics of blanking for straight side and comer region simultaneously. As the result the ratios measured k(m experiment of roll over, burnish and fracture zone based on initial blank thickness are compared with those of FE analysis. Both experiment and FE analysis show that the amount of mil over and fracture is increased as the clearance increases. When the radius of comer is less than thickness of blank it has been found that larger clearance is required than that of straight region in order to maintain same quality of shear profile at the comer region.

Based on knowledge-based rules, the system is designed by considering several factors, such as material and thickness of product, complexities of blank geometry and punch profile, diameter and material of a wire, and availability of press. This system is capable of generating NC data automatically according to drawings of die-layout module. Results which are carried out in each module will provide efficiencies to the designer and the manufacturer of blanking or piercing die in this field.
