  • The deterioration of dimensional accuracy, caused by springback, is one of problems to always occur in sheet metal forming processes. As the demand for lighter and stronger metals increases, the development of improved forming processes settling the springback problem becomes more important. In this work, springback phenomena are investigated which occur in the press forming process with the anisotropic sheet metal and axisymmetric tools. The improvement possibility of dimensional accuracies, mainly, flatness, will be examined by applying blank holding forces as a method of springback control.

  • In order to develope springback control technology for high-strength steel sheets, some studies have been conducted: dome stretching test, stepped s-rail forming and springback measurement, and optimally shaped initial blank design. First, to find out the formability of TRIP60, dome stretching test was performed. Next the stepped s-rail die, which was designed to form a channel type panel with large twist and wall curl, was manufactured and used to know the effect of controlling forming variables, such as blank holding force and flange amount on the springback. Furthermore, new measurement method of the springback was introduced to define wall curl and twist in geometrically complex panels. Finally, the optimally shaped initial blank was employed to verify one of the best ways to control the springback in channel type, high strength sheet panels.

  • Maintaining the required dimensional accuracy after springback becomes the main concern of sheet-forming die designers when formability is secured through beforehand tryouts. As a part to build guidelines for springback control in automobile frame forming, experiments are carried out to show the effects of process parameters, such as holding force, blank size, and lubrication, on corner angles of channels formed by U-bending or by square-cup drawing and trimming. The results predicted by a commercial FE package were compared with the experiment and the current limitations on springback evaluation were closely discussed.

  • The wrinkling in the flange and wall of a part is a predominent failure mode in stamping of sheet metal parts. In many cases this wrinkling may be eliminated by appropriate control of the blank holding force(BHF), but BHF affects the draw depth. Although the wrinkles of flange have been made in the incipient stage of drawing, if the height of wrinkles is maintained under a prescribed limit by decrease or extinction of wrinkles in the course of drawing, small BHP can be allowed so that the depth of drawing could be increased. Authors research the variation of the wrinkles in flange in the course of square cup drawing by using aluminium A1015 and aluminium alloy A5052.

  • The design of hydraulic & control system has been developed for the disc spinning machine. The hydraulic system has been designed in the overall system including the vertical & horizontal slide fur spinning works which are controlled by hydraulic servo valves in right & left side, and the clamping slide for holding & pressing blank material in center during spinning process. Based on the design concept of this hydraulic system, model test experiments for hydraulic servo control system is tested to conform confidence and applying possibility. The control system is introduced with the fuzzy-sliding mode controller for the hydraulic force control reacting force as a disturbance, because a fuzzy controller does not require an accurate mathematical model for the generation of nonlinear factors in the actual nonlinear plant with unknown disturbances and a sliding controller has the robustness & stability in mathematical control algorithm. We conform that the fuzzy-sliding mode controller has a good performance in force control for the plant with a strong disturbance. Also, we observe that a steady state error of the fuzzy-sliding mode controller can be reduced better than those of an another controllers.

  • The wrinkling in the flange and wall of a part is a predominant failure mode in stamping of sheet metal parts. In many cases this wrinkling may be eliminated by appropriate control of the blank holding force(BHF), but BHF affects the draw depth. Gotoh had studied the wrinkles under $20{\mu}$ in height. In general, the height of wrinkles could be limited under $200{\mu}$ practically. Therefore small BHF can be allowed so that the depth of drawing could be increased. This paper represents the variation of the wrinkles of flange in the part of cup drawing by using aluminium alloy A1050 and A5052. This simulation is used by the explicit finite elements code $PAM-STAMP^{TM}$. The computed results are compared with the experimental results to show the validity of the analysis.

Effects of Bromelain and Double Emulsion on the Physicochemical Properties of Pork Loin

  • Our aim was to investigate the effects of bromelain embedded in double emulsion (DE) on physicochemical properties of pork loin. We evaluated DE characteristics such as size, zeta potential, and microscopy after fabrication. We marinated meat with distilled water (DW), 1% (w/v) bromelain solution, blank DE, and 1% (w/v) bromelain loaded in double emulsion (DE E) for 0, 24, 48, and 72 h at 4℃, and prepared raw meat for control. The marinated samples were assessed for color, water holding capacity, cooking loss, moisture content, pH, protein solubility, Warner-Bratzler shear force (WBSF) and gel electrophoresis. The droplet size of 1% (w/v) bromelain embedded in DE was increased compared with blank DE (p<0.05) and values of zeta potential decreased. The increase in lightness and color difference range of the DE-treated group was lower than that of the DW-treated group (p<0.05). Moreover, treatment by immersion in 1% (w/v) DE E resulted in the highest water holding capacity values (p<0.05) and lower cooking loss values than water base treatment (p<0.05). Results for myofibrillar protein solubility and WBSF showed a similar trend. 1% (w/v) DE E showed degradation of myosin heavy chain after 48 h in sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Thus, bromelain-loaded DE is useful for controlling and handling enzyme activity in food industry.

Optimum Design of the Process Parameter in Sheet Metal Forming with Design Sensitivity Analysis using the Direct Differentiation Approach (II) -Optimum Process Design- (직접미분 설계민감도 해석을 이용한 박판금속성형 공정변수 최적화 (II) -공정 변수 최적화-)

  • Process optimization is carried out to determine process parameters which satisfy the given design requirement and constraint conditions in sheet metal forming processes. Sensitivity -based-approach is utilized for the optimum searching of process parameters in sheet metal forming precesses. The scheme incorporates an elasto-plastic finite element method with shell elements . Sensitivities of state variables are calculated from the direct differentiation of the governing equation for the finite element analysis. The algorithm developed is applied to design of the variablc blank holding force in deep drawing processes. Results show that determination of process parameters is well performed to control the major strain for preventing fracture by tearing or to decrease the amount of springback for improving the shape accuracy. Results demonstrate that design of process parameters with the present approach is applicable to real sheet metal forming processes.
