  • Lately, increasing utilization of vehicle blackbox, there is acted research and development of blackbox. But, currently used Blackbox was stored only video, sound and have Limit to know details of an accident. When disappeared mounted blackbox inside the vehicle, there don't know information of blackbox. In this paper, because using video and sound and GPS, blackbox store current location and route and vehicle speed, blackbox increase efficiency and accuracy of accident analysis. and using wareless LAN, smart blackbox implement to transfer external store media.

  • When a traffic accident occurs, the vehicle's speed is an essential factor in the analysis of the cause of the accident. As more and more vehicles have a blackbox device installed, measuring the vehicle's speed through blackbox video is one of the ways to measure the vehicle's speed. This paper presents the results of comparing and analyzing the validity of the speed measured from re-recorded or re-encoded blackbox video. In this paper, we suggest that if it is impossible to measure the speed with the original blackbox video, it can analyze by re-taken and re-encoding video. For the verification, the accuracy of the measured speed by original video examined by comparing it with the actual speed confirmed in the smartphone navigation. After that, the speeds of vehicles in three re-taken videos and two re-encorded videos at different resolutions and frames per second measured. As a result of analyzing them, it verified that there is no significant difference between them and the speeds from the original video. Based on these results, it confirmed that the speeds measured from re-taken and re-encoded video are valid when measuring a vehicle's actual speed.

  • Lately, becausing Life, property loss from car accident, vehicles have been used vehicle blackbox like blackbox by airplane. when the accident happened, existing car blackbox that was stored external image or video of vehicle don't know the vehicle's driving conditions. For knowing vehicle's driving conditions, vehicle is loaded sensors for Variety of measurement and control. the sensors is controlled by ECU(Electronic Control Unit) and all vehicles is used Mandatory OBD2(On-board diagnostics) protocol for communication between ECUs since 2006. Using ODB2 protocol, driver use blackbox data by various driving data to occur vehicle' ECU and can be obtained more definitive information. In this paper, there implement smart blackbox system to use exact vehicle's data using OBD2 protocol rather than blackbox to store external image or video.

  • In this paper, automatic recognition of an accident and whether service delivery and risk driving through the giving of the driver to correct driving habits before and after the accident to reproduce highly scalable video Smart Mobile Blackbox DVR (SMBD, Smart Mobile Blackbox DVR) Computer of the model was designed. SMBD on embedded systems equipped with wireless capabilities to sleep in the car accident point and the image information by wireless communications, by notification in the control center, 24-hour emergency rescue service and traffic information can be provided. The vehicle ECU (Electronic Control Unit) of the vehicle information and sensor data in conjunction with wireless eCall (Emergency Call) services can be realized.

  • Car blackboxes record the information and status of driving. Since blackboxes are commonly used in daily life, the usage of video data recorded from blackboxes is increasing for investigating. Investigators use a own analysis tool suitable for their blackbox provided by the manufacturer in order to check the data. But the tools are not enough to use in the digital forensic analysis because they are dependent on a specific model of blackbox and provides ungeneralized functions. Moreover, if the manufacturer is bankrupt, then their own tools can not be obtained also. Therefore, the way data are stored in the blackboxes which are now in the market are investigated and the features and limitations which have blackbox's own analysis tools are checked. And a comprehensive tool for the analysis of blackboxes is designed and implemented as in this paper.

  • Recently, as a vehicle black box device has propagated, it has been increasingly used as a legal proof and there are the needs to verify an integrity of the video data. However, since the black box classified as the embedded system has a small capacity and low processing speed, there are limitations to the storage of video files and the integrity verification processing. In this paper, we propose a novel method for video files integrity in the black box environment with limited resources by using lightweight hash function LSH and the security of HMAC. We also present the test results of CPU idle rate at integrity verification in vehicle black box device by implementing this method, and verify the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed method.

  • Video stabilization is performed to remove unexpected shaky and irregular motion from a video. It is often used as preprocessing for robust feature tracking and matching in video. Typical video stabilization algorithms are developed to compensate motion from surveillance video or outdoor recordings that are captured by a hand-help camera. However, since the vehicle video contains rapid change of motion and local features, typical video stabilization algorithms are hard to be applied as it is. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to compensate shaky and irregular motion in vehicle video using linear regression model and vertical projection histogram matching. Towards this goal, we perform vertical projection histogram matching at each sub region of an input frame, and then we generate linear regression model to extract vertical translation and rotation parameters with estimated regional vertical movement vector. Multiple binarization with sub-region analysis for generating the linear regression model is effective to typical recording environments where occur rapid change of motion and local features. We demonstrated the effectiveness of our approach on blackbox videos and showed that employing the linear regression model achieved robust estimation of motion parameters and generated stabilized video in full automatic manner.

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the effects of DVR(Driving Video Recorder) operation on decreasing the number of traffic accidents, the cost of traffic accident claim, and the behavioral change in drivers' driving. The data for this research are obtained from taxi drivers in Busan. For this, Structural Equation Model and two-way ANOVA are employed for empirical analysis. Overall results of this study show that the number of traffic accidents of 4 taxi corporations in Busan has decreased by average 32.7 percent after using DVRs. In addition, as to the cost of taxi accident claims, it is expected that the DVR operation has a considerable effect on economic benefits of taxi corporations. Moreover, this study could make clear the difference in behaviors between DVR users and non-users, and discriminate the positive and negative impacts of the DVR operation on the drivers' driving behavior. The study quantitatively examined the indirect impact of 'attitude', 'subject norm' and 'behavioral control' factors on planned 'behavior', and the direct impact of 'behavioral control' factor on the planned 'behavior'. This study suggests that they should add the video recoding function of DVRs when operation recorder(blackbox for the car) is obligatorily set up on cars for business by traffic security law.

  • Vehicle black boxes that have similar functions as airplane black boxes are currently being used due to the loss of many lives and properties arising from vehicle accidents. Both black-box products and Event Data Recorder(EDR) systems are currently available in the market. Most of the existing in-vehicle black boxes, however, record only external videos and images and cannot show the vehicle's driving status, whereas EDR products record only the driving status and not external videos. To address the problem of black boxes that can record only videos and images and that of EDR systems that can record only driving data, an integrated vehicle state and video recording system that uses MOST(Media-oriented System Transport) and OBD-II(Onboard Diagnostics II) and CAM (camera) and GPS (global positioning system).
