  • The intercommissural(AC-PC) line is automatically detected for HR and PET images. With the detected AC-PC lines from MR and PET images, fully non-iterative automatic co- registration is accomplished. It provides a new automated method for image co-registration.

  • A fiber-optic radiation sensor was fabricated using a sensing probe, a plastic optical fiber, a photomultiplier tube, and a multichannel analyzer for gamma-ray spectroscopy. As an inorganic scintillator of the sensing probe, a LYSO crystal was used. In this study, we obtained the relationship between the photon counts of the fiber-optic radiation sensor and the activity of the radioactive isotope. In addition, the gamma-ray energy spectra were also measured using a fiber-optic radiation sensor to discriminate species of gamma-ray emitters.

고 에너지 광자선 계측용 2차원 광섬유 방사선 센서의 제작 및 특성분석 (Fabrication and Characterization of Two-dimensional Fiber-optic Radiation Sensor for High Energy Photon Beam Therapy Dosimetry)

  • 본 연구에서는 유기 섬광체와 플라스틱 광섬유를 이용하여 치료용 광자선의 계측을 위한 2차원 광섬유 방사선 센서를 제작하였다. 제작된 센서를 사용하여 광자선 조사야(Field size)와 에너지에 따른 선형가속기의 빔 분포도를 2차원적으로 측정하였으며 polymethylmethacrylate(PMMA)팬텀 내에서 깊이에 따른 섬광체의 광량을 측정하여 깊이선량 분포(Percent Depth Dose, PDD) 또한 2차원으로 측정하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 개발된 2차원 광섬유 방사선 센서는 고 분해능, 실시간 측정, 쉬운 보정 등 많은 장점을 가지고 있다.

Chalcogenide 광섬유를 이용한 호흡측정 센서 개발을 위한 기초 연구 (Feasibility study on the development of respiration sensor using a chalcogenide optical fiber)

  • In this study, we have fabricated an infrared optical fiber based sensor which can monitor the respiration of a patient. The design of a chalcogenide optical fiber based sensor is suitable for insertion into a high electro-magnetic field environment because the sensor consists of low cost and compact mid-infrared components such as an infrared light source, a chalcogenide optical fiber and a thermopile sensor. A fiber-optic respiration sensor is capable of detecting carbon dioxide ($CO_{2}$) in exhalation of a patient using the infrared absorption characteristics of carbon gases. The modulated infrared radiation due to the presence of carbon dioxide is guided to the thermopile sensor via a chalcogenide receiving fiber. It is expected that a mid-infrared fiber-optic respiration sensor which can be developed based on the results of this study would be highly suitable for respiration measurements of a patient during the procedure of an MRI.

고농도 산소 공급량 변화에 따른 남/녀 혈중 산소 포화도의 차이 (Differences of Blood Oxygen Saturation between Male and Female due to Change of Supply Rate of Highly Concentrated Oxygen)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine differences between male and female in blood oxygen saturation due to 93% oxygen administration of the three levels (1L/min, 3L/min, 5L/min). Ten healthy male ($25.0{\pm}1.8$ years) and ten female ($23.7{\pm}1.9$ years) college students were selected as the subjects for this study. The experiment consisted of three runs, i.e., the three levels of 93% oxygen administration, respectively. The each run consisted of three phases, i.e., Rest 1 (5 min), Hyperoxia (10 min), and Rest 2 (5 min). Blood oxygen saturation were measured throughout the three phases. By increasing the supply rate of highly concentrated oxygen, rising rate of blood oxygen saturation was increased. Blood oxygen saturation of female was higher than male regardless of supply rate of highly concentrated oxygen and phases.

광섬유 pH 센서 개발을 위한 분광학적 연구 (Spectroscopic study on the development of fiber-optic pH sensor)

  • In this study, we have fabricated a fiber-optic pH sensor which is composed of a light source, plastic optical fibers and a spectrometer. As an indicator, a phenol red is used, and a pH liquid solution is prepared by mixing of phenol red and various kinds of pH buffer solutions in these experiments. The emitting light from a light source is guided by plastic optical fibers to the pH liquid solution, and the optical characteristic of a light is changed in the pH liquid solution according to its color change. Therefore, we have measured the intensities and wavelength shifts of the modulated lights, which are changed due to the color variations of phenol red at different pH values, by using of a spectrometer for spectral analysis. Also, the relationships between the pH values of liquid solutions and the optical properties of modulated light according to the change of color of phenol red are obtained.

연마지를 이용한 촉각적 시각에 관한 연구 (A Study on Tactile Visuality Using Sandpapers)

  • Human senses have been studied widely. Many studied are being actively conducted to analyze correlations between two or more different senses. Among them, research on tactile visuality where a subject can indirectly experience visual sensation through tactile elements is also progressing in various fields. In this study, we analyzed color information by having subjects perceive sandpapers with different roughness through tactile sense, then having them choose a color that is reminiscent of the tactile sensation. Unlike existing tactile-visuality studies allowing the perception of indirect visual sense by using tactile sense, this study shows that it is possible to analyze with quantitative value by representing visual image perceived by tactile sense as a color. This study will contribute to emotional evaluation research that combines two or more of the senses felt by humans, and especially is considered to be useful as basic data when conducting research about tactile visuality or auditory tactile sense.
