  • This review focuses on the developed and the being developed environmental sensors in particular biological sensors. As well as discussing the classification and some main principles, presenting current trend of the environmental sensors is given. Two main categories are immunosensors and catalytic sensors. In addition to those. DNA or RNA sensors or protein based sensors are discussed. Some crucial examples of the applications of such sensors are given to show how the sensor technology it used for environmental and biological monitoring, biomarkers of exposure.

  • Several new derivatives of oxazolidinone phosphonate, that are expected to show biological activity, were prepared efficiently by previously published methods. ${\gamma}$-Ketophosphonate 1 was synthesized using pentacovalent oxaphosphorane chemistry followed by reductive amination with aromatic amine of oxazolidinone 4. Biological activity of the synthetic compounds has been studied. One of the synthetic compounds showed promising result for us to pursue further studies.

  • Glucagon was found to interact with DMPC vesicles electrostatically and hydrophobically. It appears that glucagon bound irreversibly to the vesicles through hydrophobic interaction was partially protected from the proteolysis by trypsin. Out of three possible sites, only the peptide bond preceded by Arg-18 was cleaved by a prolonged trypsin treatment. ${\alpha}$-chymotrysin did not affect the vesicle-bound glucagon. Based on these observations, possible structure of irreversibly bound glucagon on the vesicle surface is discussed.

  • Three cheilostomatous bryozoans from Korean waters were identified. Thalamoporella sibogae Soule, Soule and Chaney, 1992 and Schizomavella acuta Osburn, 1952 are new to Korea, and Buffonellaria acutirostris is new to the bryozoans fauna. S. acuta and B. acutirostris n. sp. are described with figures.
