  • This study is convergence study about the effect path of relationship among satisfaction with biological nursing science, satisfaction with major nursing subject, critical thinking disposition, satisfaction with major and clinical competence. The survey was performed on 203 nursing students in three college. Data was collected using a structured questionnaires in May 2018 and analysed with PASW 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. Model fit indices were in good agreement with recommended level(${\chi}^2/DF=1.093$, GFI=.992, AGFI=.968, RMSEA=.021, CFI=.998, NFI=.983). Base on the path model, satisfaction with biological nursing science showed a direct effect on satisfaction with major nursing subject(${\beta}=.345$), satisfaction with major nursing subject showed a direct effect both on critical thinking disposition(${\beta}=.272$) and satisfaction with major(${\beta}=.277$), critical thinking disposition showed a direct effect both on satisfaction with major(${\beta}=.365$) and clinical competence(${\beta}=.582$), satisfaction with major a direct effect on clinical competence(${\beta}=.228$). In conclusion the biological nursing science satisfaction has eventually improved clinical competence. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and apply various teaching methods that can increase satisfaction with biological nursing science.

  • Methamphetamine is an illicit drug that is often abused and can cause neuropsychiatric and neurotoxic damage. Repeated administration of psychostimulants such as methamphetamine induces a behavioral sensitization. According to a previous study, Bax was involved in neurotoxicity by methamphetamine, but the function of Bax in rewarding effect has not yet been elucidated. Therefore, we have studied the function of Bax in a rewarding effect model. In the present study, we treated chronic methamphetamine exposure in a Bax-deficient mouse model and examined behavioral change using a conditioned place preference (CPP) test. The CPP score in Bax knockout mice was decreased compared to that of wild-type mice. Therefore, we screened for Bax-related genes that are involved in rewarding effect using microarray technology. In order to confirm microarray data, we applied the RT-PCR method to observe relative changes of Bcl2, a pro-apoptotic family gene. As a result, using our experiment microarray, we selected genes that were associated with Bax in microarray data, and eventually selected the Tgfbr2 gene. Expression of the Tgfbr2 gene was decreased by methamphetamine in Bax knockout mice, and the gene was overexpressed in Bax wild-type mice. Additionally, we confirmed that Creb, FosB, and c-Fos were related to rewarding effect and Bax using immunohistochemistry.

  • Silver nanoparticles have been used in agricultural practice because of their biocide effect. However, limited information is available for the effect of silver nanoparticles on soil quality. Therefore, the main purpose of this study was to evaluate effect of silver nanoparticle application on soil especially when fertilizer is applied. To simulate potassium fertilizer, potassium chloride was mixed with silver nanoparticles in soil. Concentration of silver and chloride was measured and result showed that concentration of both compounds was decreased at the range of $3.4mg\;kg^{-1}$ and 78-84% respectively after treatment. In addition, analysis of microbial population after treatment showed that microbial population was increased when silver nanoparticles and KCl were mixed. Those results indicated that application of fertilizer has impact on biocide effect of silver nanoparticles in soil.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of biological repairing mortars on restoring the structural performance of a sewage culvert deteriorated by sulfate attack. The biological mortars were developed for protecting concrete structures exposed to sulfate attack based on the block membrane action of the bacterial glycocalyx. The diffusion coefficient of sulfate ions in the biological mortars was determined from the natural diffusion cell tests. The effect of sulfate-attack-induced concrete deterioration on the structural performance of culverts was examined by using the moment-curvature relationship predicted based on the nonlinear section lamina approach considering the sulfuric-acid-induced degradation of the structure. Typical analytical assessments showed that biological mortars were quite effective in increasing the sulfate-resistant service life of sewage culverts.

  • The application of neuroimaging techniques in psychiatry started in 1970s with the use of CT(computerized tomography). Neuroimaging methods can be categorized as anatomical and functional. Recently, attentions are focused on the functional neuroimaging methods those could give us various important informations. But results regarding to psychotropic medication effect on neuroimaging are not sufficient. Here, the study results of the medication effect with the functional imaging methods are mainly revieued.

  • In vitro antimutagenicity of Bacillus natto islolated from Natto, Japanese traditional fermented food, was investigated using umu-test. Mutagenicity of S9-activated metabolites of Trp-P-2 and IQ for Salmonella typhimurium TA 1535/pSK1002 was remarkably inhibited by addition of bacterial cells and their cytoplasmic fraction. Desmutagenicity by cytoplasmic fraction increased with increasing concentration of the fraction. Bioantimutagenic effect of cytoplasm on Salmonella typhimurium SD-100 did not show bioantimutagenic activity against mutated bacterial cells induced by Trp-P-2. Cytoplasmic fraction exhibited 17% bioantimutagenicity due to desmutation caused by IQ.

  • In this paper, we study a Lotka-Volterra type simple food chain model. We investigate the positive coexistence of the steady states to the model and give some results for the extinction of species under certain assumptions which can be interpreted as Domino effect and Biological control. The methods of a decoupling operator and the fixed point index theory on a positive cone are used as well as the comparison argument. Numerical evidences for our results also are provided.

  • Gelatinization temperatures of upland and lowland waxy brown rice starches annealed at $25^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$ for 24hr were investigated with differential scanning calorimetry No annealing effect was observed at low temperature. The upland rice starch showed narrower range of gelatinization temperature upon annealing treatment at $60\circ}C$ compared with the lowland rice starch. The enthalpy of gelatinization was not changed in case of the upland rice starch but was increased in case of the lowland one upon annealing.
