Biochemical, enzymatic, immunological, and morphological evidences on ceramide and other lipids lamellae formation, assembly of component proteins of CE and expression and distribution of TGases provided better understanding of CE formation. Pathophysiology of some of the genetic disease is beginning to be clarified. Hope we can utilize the information gained in understanding CE formation would expedite the development of patient treatment processes.
Quercetin and its derivatives are important metabolites that belong to the flavonol class of flavonoids. Quercetin and some of the conjugates have been approved by the FDA for human use. They are widely distributed among plants and have various biological activities, such as being anticancer, antiviral, and antioxidant. Hence, the biosynthesis of novel derivatives is an important field of research. Glycosylation and methylation are two important modification strategies that have long been used and have resulted in many novel metabolites that are not present in natural sources. A strategy for modifying quercetin in E. coli by means of glycosylation, for example, involves overexpressing respective glycosyltransferases (GTs) in the host and metabolic engineering for increasing nucleoside diphosphate sugar (NDP-sugar). Still others have used microorganisms other than E. coli, such as Streptomyces sp., for the biotransformation process. The overall study of the structural activity relationship has revealed that modification of some residues in quercetin decreased one activity but increased others. This review summarizes all of the information mentioned above.
Objective: To understand the characteristic of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and study the traditional Korean medicine (TKM)-based strategies or therapeutics for them. Methods: A male patient with NASH was treated with only Oriental therapies, and then the clinical outcome was evaluated by serum biochemical parameters and radiographs. Result: The clinical and biochemical values of the patient fluctuated over three years according to the treatments and cessation of herbal medicines. Conclusion: NASH or NAFLD are now prevalent and these disorders could be targets of TKM, and this case report would provide useful information.
Research on the basic interaction of radiation with biological systems has contributed to human society through various applications in pharmaceutical, medicine, agriculture and other technological developments. In the agricultural sciences and food technology sectors, the last few decades have witnessed a large number of pertinent works regarding the utilization of radiation for evolution of superior varieties of agricultural crops of economic importance. This review presents general information about the effect of radiation on plant specificity, dose response, and benefits. There has been summarized of the effects observed after exposure and influenced by several factors including plant characteristics and radiation features. We also report on the effect of ${\gamma}$-irradiations on plants, focusing on metabolic alterations, modifications of growth and development and changes in biochemical pathways.
Basically, diagnosis is a comprehensive judgement of the biochemical data which were collected from the patient directly. Therefore, no matter what kinds of well-managed data control are there, if data sample itself is not perfectly appropriate for any reason. we can not rule out high possibility of misunderstanding or wrong diagnosis. Among many possible reasons inadequate sample were collected maybe three situation and circumstances could be assumed as follows. 1. Client did not know what they are supposed to do for sampling 2. Technicians are to qualified or less-experienced on the job 3. Wrong managing or careless treat of the biochemical data sample If it is true, we could manage these problems to be solved through the information sharing and education. In order to verify this hypothesis, actually 5,800 cases were studied from January to August this year. Owing to the thorough education the rate of unappropriated samples reduced to 0.4% from 1.2%. This outcome strongly support the hypothesis of the mutual relation between the proper sample and well-designed education in advance. The importance of information sharing on right process of sample collection should be emphasized.
