A Study on a Resorption Beat Pump Using Methanol-Glycerine (메탄올-글리세린을 이용한 재흡수 열펌프의 열역학적 모사 연구)

  • The improvement of energy recovery is mandatory to decrease consumption of fossil fuels and to minimize negative impacts on the environment which originates from large cooling and heating demand. The absorption heat pump technology has a large potential for energy saving in this respect. Absorption heat pump is a means to upgrade waste heat without addition of extra thermal energy. In this study, resorption heat pump for energy recovery has been investigated using methanol-glycerine. The simulated calculation of theoretical thermal efficiency was performed based on the thermodynamic properties of the working fluid over various operating conditions. The thermal efficiency of higher than 0.4 was obtained by raising industrial waste heat, 7080C, by 40C in this system.

Elimination of Heavy Metals(Pb, Cd) by Steaming and Roasting Conditions of Polygonatum odoratum Roots (둥굴레 근경의 증자 및 볶음조건에 따른 중금속(Pb, Cd) 제거 특성)

  • Response surface methodology(RSM) was applied to monitor the elimination rate of heavy metals(Pb, Cd) and soluble solids depending on the steaming and roasting conditions of Polygonatum odoratum roots. Experiments of 16 different steaming and roasting conditions based on a central composite design for steaming time(60180 min), roasting temperature(110150C), and roasting time(1050 min) were conducted, thereby predicting the steaming and roasting conditions for the maximal responses; soluble solids(71.47%) at 65.24 min, 126.93C and 37.58 min; Pb removal rate(18.87%) at 71.23 min, 119.81C and 24.35 min; Cd removal rate(50,85%) at 160.89 min, 126.43C and 15.81 min, respectively. The optimum conditions estimated by RSM for the maximized values of soluble solids and heavy metal elimination rates were 165180 min of steaming time, 120135C of roasting temperature, and 3045 min of roasting time, respectively. These estimated values were in agreement with those measured by real experiments.

Isolation and In Vitro Antimicrobial Activity of Low Molecular Phenolic Compounds from Burkholderia sp. MP-1 (Brukholderia sp. MP-1 에서의 페놀화합물의 분리와 항균활성의 측정)

  • An antagonistic strain, Burkholderia MP-1, showed antimicrobial activity against various filamentous plant pathogenic fungi, yeasts and food borne bacteria (Gram-positive and Gram-negative). The nucleotide sequence of the 16S rRNA gene (1491 pb) of strain MP-1 exhibited close similarity (99-100%) with other Burkholderia 16S rRNA genes. Isolation of the antibiotic substances from culture broth was fractionated by ethyl acetate (EtOAc) solvent and EtOAc-soluble acidic fraction. The antibiotic substances were purified through a silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, ODS column chromatography, and high performance liquid chromatography, respectively. Four active substances were identified as phenylacetic acid, hydrocinnamic acid, 4-hydroxyphenylacetic acid and 4-hydroxyphenylacetate methyl ester by gas chromatographic-mass spectrum analysis. The minimum inhibition of concentration (MIC) of each active compound inhibited the growth of the microorganisms tested at 250 to 2500μgml1. The antimicrobial activity of crude acidic fraction at 1 mg of dry weight per 6 mm paper disc was more effective than authentic standard mixture (four active substances were mixed with the same ratio as acidic fraction) over a wide range of bacterial test.

Investigation of Physicochemical Properties of Bio-oils Produced from Pitch Pine (Pinus rigida) at Various Temperatures (열분해 온도에 따른 리기다소나무 바이오오일의 물리·화학적 특성 평가)

  • In this study, fast pyrolysis of pitch pine (Pinus rigida) was performed in a fluidized bed reactor under the temperature ranges between 400 and 550C at the residence time of 1.9 sec. Essential pyrolytic products (bio-oil, biochar, and gas) were produced and their yield was clearly influenced by temperature. The maximum yield of bio-oil was observed to 64.9 wt% (wet basis) at the temperature of 500C. As pyrolysis temperature increased, the yield of biochar decreased from 36.8 to 11.1 wt%, while gas amount continuously increased from 16.1 to 33.0 wt%. Water content as well as heating value of bio-oils were obviously sensitive to the pyrolysis temperature. The water contents in the bio-oil clearly decreased from 26.1 (400C) to 11.9 wt% (550C), with increasing the fast pyrolysis temperature, while their higher heating values were increased from 16.6 MJ/kg to 19.3 MJ/kg. According to GC/MS analysis, 22 degradation compounds were identified from the bio-oils and 10 compounds were derived from carbohydrate, 12 compounds were derived from lignin.

  • 식물공장 내 작물의 생육은 제공되는 인공광원의 광원 및 광질에 영향을 받으며, 광흡수 파장에 따라 다르다. 또한 광합성에 효과적인 형태의 빛의 계속적인 빛의 조사보다는 광 펄스를 조절하여 공급하여 준다면 더욱더 효과적인 생육 환경을 제공해 줄 수 있다. 식물의 최적 생장을 위해 특정 파장대의 빛을 선택적으로 조사할 수 있는 LED특성을 사용하여 UV광원을 포함한 인공광원의 펄스폭 변조에 따른 적치마 상추의 생육특성을 알아보고자 하였다. 광환경은 Red(660 nm), Blue(450 nm), UV(395 nm) LED를 8:1:1 비율로 광량 160μmolm2s1, 주파수 1.25, 2.5, 3.75, 5.0 kHz로 조사하여 주었으며, 온도 2023C, 습도 50~60%, CO2농도 1,000 ppm으로 조성하여 주었다. 아시아종묘 적치마상추를 파종 후 18일 째 되는날 정식, 정식 후 14일 28일 째 되는날 SPAD, 지상부 지하부의 생체중 및 건물중, 엽폭, 엽장을 측정하였으며, 측정한 엽폭과 엽장을 이용하여 엽형지수 산출, 지상부 지하부 생체중 값을 이용하여 S/R율을 산출하였다. SPAD 측정결과 생육시기가 증가할수록 SPAD함량은 감소하였으며, 1.25와 2.5 kHz에서 생육 시기 증가에 대한 SPAD함량 감소가 컸고, 3.75와 5.0 kHz의 경우 SPAD함량의 감소량은 작았다. 지상부 생체중은 3.75 kHz에서 121.51 g으로 가장 높은 값을 나타냈으며, 2.5, 1.75, 5.0 kHz 순으로 높은 값을 나타났다. 지하부 생체중의 경우 3.75 kHz에서 31.31 g으로 가장 높은 값을 나타냈으며 2.5, 5.0, 1.25 kHz 순으로 높게 나타났다. 엽형지수는 생육 시기가 증가에 따라 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며, 1.75, 2.5, 5.0, 3.75 kHz 순으로 크게 나타났다. 지상부 건물중 측정결과는 지상부 생체중 결과와, 지하부 건물중의 측정결과는 지하부 생체중 결과와 동일하였다. S/R율은 1.75 kHz를 제외하고 생육시기가 증가할수록 S/R율은 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며, 주파수가 높아질수록 S/R율은 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 엽형지수는 엽폭/엽장으로 엽형지수를 산출한 결과로 값이 작을수록 엽폭이 넓은 형태를 의미하며, 생체중값이 가장 크게 나타났던 3.75 kHz에서 엽형지수의 값이 가장 낮게 나타났으며 3.75 kHz를 제외하고 주파수가 높을수록 엽형지수의 값이 낮게 나타났다. 이에 주파수에 따른 적상추의 생육은 3.75 kHz에서 가장 좋은 것으로 판단할 수 있었다.

Regeneration of symmetric protoplast fusion between cabbage (Brassica oleracea L.) and radish (Raphanus sativus L.) (양배추와 무의 동형 원형질체 융합을 이용한 식물체의 재분화)

  • Protoplasts from cabbage and radish were isolated and fused symmetrically by PEG treatment. The PEG treated mixture of high concentrated protoplasts produced lots of micro-calli after 23 weeks. The microcalli developed to normal calli and shoots were regenerated from the calli. A total of 218 shoots were regenerated, but none of them contained the NWB-CMS specific DNA marker, indicating that the transfer of the radish NWB-CMS character into cabbage did not occur. However, ISSR analysis revealed that the cell fusion between protoplasts from radish and cabbage was occurred (3 out of 208 plantlet). The fused regenerants possessed the characteristics of source plants used for protoplast fusion. After vernalization, three regenerants were flowered with white petal color as seen in radish. Only three seeds were able to obtain from one regenerant by backcrossing with the cabbage pollen.

  • The optimization of extraction conditions of phytoestrogen from pomegranate by hot water was conducted by analyzing the extraction characteristics. The purpose of this study was effective utilization of bioactive components of pomegranate, and the analyzing was performed with response surface methodology (RSM). This study established 10 sections based on the central composite design with the independent variables of extraction temperature (60, 70, 80, 90, 100C) and extraction time (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 hr) to predict the optimal conditions for extraction of the effective components. The dependent variables were measured for extracted materials, those were, the major components such as chlorogenic acid, kaempferol, 17αestradioland17βestradiol content, and regression analysis was performed by SAS program, and optimal conditions for each characteristics were predicted, and the characteristics of extraction were analyzed by response surface methodology. It was found that chlorogenic acid, kaempferol, and 17αestradiol content were greatly affected by extraction temperature. However, 17βestradiol content was affected significantly by extraction time. Regression formulas for each variable were elicited from this study, and the chlorogenic acid, kaempferol, 17αestradioland17βestradiol content depending on response surface methodology factor were superimposed. It was shown that optimal temperature and extraction time were 98100Cand35 hrs, respectively.

Quality Characteristics of Onion Jangaji during Aging (숙성조건에 따른 양파장아찌의 품질특성)

  • To aid in manufacturing, this study investigated quality characteristics of onion Jangaji during maturation at 0C, 10C, 20C and room temperature. [Please check that the rewriting of the previous sentence retains the intended meaning]The Brix of onion Jangaji and the maturation solution were 1516% at the end of the maturation process. The salinity of onion Jangaji and the solution increased, and the pH declined to 3.934.31 during processing. The L, a and b color values of onion Jangaji and the solution changed slightly. The total acidity of onion Jangaji and the solution rose slowly. The texture (hardness, fracturability, adhesiveness, cohesiveness, springiness, gumminess and chewiness) of onion Jangaji was determined using a texture analyzer, and varied with storage temperature. In the sensory evaluation of onion Jangaji, low temperature storage gave higher acceptability ratings than room temperature with respect to taste, color, flavor, texture and overall acceptability.

Determination of Ultimate Biodegradability and Multiple Decay Rate Coefficients in Anaerobic Batch Degradation of Organic Wastes (유기성폐기물의 회분식 혐기성 최종생분해도와 다중분해속도 해석)

  • A new graphical method was developed to separate two distinctive decay rate coefficients(k1 and k2) at their respective degradable substrate fractions($S_1 and S2). The mesophilic batch reactor showed k1 of 0.151day1 for wasted activated sludge(WAS), 0.123day1 for thickened sludge(T-S), 0.2480.358day1 at S/I ratio of 13 for sorghum and 0.1550.209day1 at S/I ratio 0.21.0 for swine waste, whereas their long term batch decay rate coefficients(k2) were 0.021day1, 0.001day1, 0.03day1 and 0.04day1 respectively. At least an order of magnitude difference between k1 and k2 was routinely observed in the batch tests. The portion of S1, which degrades with each k1 appeared 71% for WAS, 39% for T-S, 90% for sorghum, and 8491 at S/I ratio of 0.21.0 for swine waste. Ultimate biodegradabilities of 50% for WAS, 40% of T-S, 8292 for sorghum, and 8189 for swine waste were observed.

Effect of Using Burn-type CO2 Generators When Cultivation Strawberry in a Greenhouse (딸기재배 시 연소식 탄산가스 발생기 이용 효과 구명)

  • This study were carried out to evaluate the efficiency of using burn-type CO2 generators in greenhouse for cultivation 'Seolhyang' strawberry (Fragaria×ananassaDuch.) during winter season. The concentration of CO2 was 200 to 600μmolmol1 in the control, and 800 to 1,100μmolmol1 in using burn-type CO2 generator between 6 and 11 hours. At other times, it was observed that at similar concentration in the control and using burn-type CO2 generator. Measured greenhouse air temperature inside the of using burn-type CO2 generator was 23C higher than the control at 6 ~ 10 am. There was no temperature difference between treatments after 11 o'clock. Plant height, leaf length, leaf width, root diameter, fresh weight, and dry weight were not different between treatments. The marketable yield (kg/10a) of using burn-type generator were 4,131 kg, which was 519 kg higher than the control. Therefore, the total fruit yields increased 17% compared to the control.
