To identify causes for drastic decrease in yield of tomato with repeated culturing number of the bag culture substrate of greenhouse tomatoes we investigated the physical and chemical properties of a coir used as the bag culture substrate to grow tomato at the Booyeo tomato experimental institute located in Booyeo, Chungnam Province for three years from 2012 to 2014. The results showed that total porosity ranged from 65.4 to 73.1% for the bulk densities of coir ranging from 0.12 to $0.14g\;cm^{-3}$. The volumetric water contents measured at 0.01 bar as air entry point were 25% (before), 33% ($1^{st}yr$), 45% ($2^{nd}yr$), and 37% ($3^{rd}yr$). Organic matter contents ranged from 82.0 to 96.2% (highest in $1^{st}yr$). pH and EC ranged from 4.47 to 6.47 (highest in $2^{nd}yr$), and from 22.2 to $53.5dS\;m^{-1}$ (highest in $1^{st}yr$) and cation exchange capacity ranged from 71.0 to $191.7cmol\;kg^{-1}$ (highest in $3^{rd}yr$). The surface structure observed with electrical microscope showed that the number of large pores decreased with increasing cultivating time while the proportion of smaller pores increased, indicating that the coir was consistently decomposed. Therefore, we could conclude that these changes of all physical and chemical properties of the coir may influence the holding capacities of water and nutrients, resulting in deterioration of quality of culture substrate of greenhouse tomatoes.

The Stupa of Buddhist Monk Soyo in Baegyangsa temple, Jangseong, was erected to pay a tribute to the achievement of the Buddhist monk Soyo, who worked for Baegyangsa temple as a chief monk, and is a bellshaped stupa with the detailed pattern of a Korean traditional buddhist bell. It is composed of pinkish-grey sandstone and the body of the stupa was damaged by longitudinal cracks on the front and back areas and the exfoliation caused break-out in the most part of the sculpture on the left and right areas. According to the ultrasonic test and infrared thermography analysis for physical deterioration diagnosis, most weathering aspects appeared on the body of the stupa and some exfoliated part that could not be seen with the naked eye was detected 6.1% and 5.9% on the left and right side respectively. Hyperspectral imaging analysis was also carried out to assess biological deterioration. According to the result, the surface of the stupa was covered 71.8 ~ 79.9% with vegetation like algae, lichen and moss. NDVI(Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) was higher relatively on the bottom part near the ground, right and back areas of the stupa. Therefore conservation treatment for the exfoliated part and bio-deterioration is necessary and the environment condition needs to be fixed to prevent extra damages on the stupa.

This paper introduces a new structural health monitoring using a nano sensor. The sensor is made of nano smart composite material based on carbon nanotubes. The nano sensor is fabricated as a thin and narrow polymer film sensor that is bonded or deposited onto a structure. The electrochemical impedance and dynamic strain response of the neuron change due to deterioration of the structure where the sensor is located. A network of the long nano sensorcan form a structural neural system to provide large area coverage and an assurance of the operational health of a structure without the need for actuators and complex wave propagation analyses that are used with other methods.
We evaluated the effects of the partial dietary replacement of fish meal with squid liver $Meal^{TM}$ on the growth and body composition of juvenile olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus during the winter season. Twenty-five fish with an initial body weight of 23 g per tank were distributed among 12,250 L flow-through tanks. The experimental diets, which were designated SLM5, SLM1O, and SLM15 diets, were prepared in triplicate along with control diet by replacing 5, 10, and $15\%$ of mackerel fish meal with squid liver $Meal^{TM}$, respectively. The weight gain and specific growth rate of flounder that were fed the control and SLM5 diets did not differ from those of the fish fed the SLM10 diet, but they were significantly (P<0.05) higher than those of the fish fed the SLM15 diet. The feed efficiency ratios for the flounder that were fed the control, SLM5 and SLM10 diets were significantly (P<0.05) higher than for the fish that were fed the SLM15 diet. However, the protein efficiency ratio for the flounder was not significantly affected by the experimental diets. The crude protein, crude lipid and ash content, and blood chemistry of the flounder were not significantly affected by the experimental diets. Therefore, the replacement of up to $10\%$ of dietary fish meal with squid liver $Meal^{TM}$ can be made without a reduction in growth or a deterioration of the feed efficiency of juvenile olive flounder during the winter season.

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of partially substituting meat meal for fish meal on the growth and body composition of juvenile olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus during the winter season. Twenty-five fish (initial body weight, 23 g) were distributed into twelve 250 L flow-through tanks. Four experimental diets were prepared in triplicate: the control, MM20, MM40, and MM60 diets. Sixty percent mackerel meal was used as the primary protein source in the control diet. Meat meal was substituted for 20, 40, and 60$\%$ of the mackerel meal in the MM20, MM40, and MM60 diets, respectively. Survival was not significantly affected by the experimental diets. However, the weight gain and specific growth rate of fish fed the control, MM20, and MM40 diets were significantly higher than those of fish fed the MM60 diet (P<0.05). The feed efficiency ratio of fish fed the control, MM20, and MM40 diets was significantly higher than that of fish fed the MM60 diet (P<0.05). The protein efficiency ratio for fish fed the control diet was significantly higher than that for fish fed the MM40 and MM60 diets (P$\%$ substitution of meat meal for fish meal in the diet could be implemented without a reduction in growth or deterioration of the feed efficiency of juvenile olive flounder during the winter season.

Environment-friendly shock-absorbing materials were made of wastepaper such as Korean old corrugated containers(KOCC) and Korean old newsprint (KONP) with a vacuum forming method. The plate-like cushioning materials made of KOCC and KONP respectively by vacuum forming showed superior shock-absorbing properties with lower elastic moduli compared to expanded polystyrene (EPS) and pulp mold. Even though the plate-like materials had many free voids in their fiber structure, their apparent densities (${\approx}0.1g/cm^3$) were a little higher than that of EPS (${\approx}0.03g/cm^3$) and much lower than that of pulp mold(${\approx}0.3g/cm^3$). However, the elastic moduli of the cushioning materials made of wastepaper were much lower than that of EPS or pulp mold. This finding implies that the cushioning materials made of KOCC fibers containing more lignin than KONP show better shock-absorbing properties than KONP. Moreover, the cushioning materials made of KOCC and KONP respectively showed greater porosity than pulp mold. The addition of cationic starch to the cushioning materials contributed to the increase in the elastic modulus to the same level as that of EPS. Furthermore, the deterioration in fiber quality by repeated use of wastepaper played a positive role in improving shock-absorbing ability.
These studies were carried out to find the effect of packing materials and storage temperature to enhance the storability of Salicornia europaea. The fresh weight loss was less than 2% at below $10^{\circ}C$ and non-perforated package, but $25^{\circ}C$ and perforated package treatment showed more than 4% of fresh weight loss that result to deteriorate quality. The carbon dioxide and oxygen contents remained 1~2% and above 15% in non-perforated package, and these contents were in proportion to gas permeability of packing materials. All the temperature treatments except 25c showed rapidly increasing ethylene concent from 7days after storage, and the highest ethylene content was $2^{\circ}C$ treatment that should appear chilling injury. The off-odor and deterioration ratio were lowest in $5^{\circ}C$ among the temperature treatments and $50{\mu}m$ thickness ceramic film treatment at $5^{\circ}C$ storage, while packing materials did not show any trends among the temperature treatments. The shelf life based on visual quality showed highest in $50{\ss}|$ thickness ceramic film packing and $5^{\circ}C$ treatment, and that was 28days.
Effect of fluctuation range and intervals of defrosting temperature on quality of frozen foods stored in a domestic refrigerator equipped with an automatic defrost system was evaluated. As defrost system was operated, temperatures of domestic refrigerators were elevated from $-18^{\circ}C\;to\;-5^{\circ}C\;and\;-15^{\circ}C$, and fluctuation intervals were l6 hrs and 30 hrs, respectively. Quality deterioration such as protein denaturation, vitamin loss, exudate production and changes in appearance of frozen foods was minimized by reducing temperature oscillation during storage. Considerable effects of thermal oscillation on ice crystal sizes were observed for frozen beef tissue and ice cream. TTI (time temperature indicator) system also proved that the temperature control of defrost system in domestic refrigerator can improve the quality of foods during storage.
This basic research was conducted to support the development of woodcraft bio-adhesives using peach gum, which is the resin produced by peach trees. The synthesis conditions of these adhesives were optimized by performing 144 experiments. The application potential of peach gum adhesives was explored by comparing their properties with those of three natural adhesives and four synthetic adhesives. The best adhesive strength was obtained by dissolving the resin in 80 mL of distilled water containing 1.5 g NaOH, 1.65 g H2O2 ( pH 8.0-9.0), 0.5 g NaClO, and 0.5 g H2BO2. The adhesive strength, which showed minimal changes and excellent reversibility, was 125.39 kgf/cm2. Ultraviolet radiation-mediated deterioration in strength in the absence of total aerobic bacteria was negligible (△E*ab = 2.75). These data confirm the potential value of peach gum-based bio-adhesives for woodcraft as well as their utility as alternatives for natural and synthetic adhesives used for the manufacture and restoration of handicrafts and preservation of cultural assets.

The acrylic copolymers with variation in side chain were synthesized based on molecular design. Wettability and adhesion properties on the wafer surface were investigated for these acrylic copolymer pressure sensitive adhesives. Three-dimensional networks of linear acrylic copolymers were produced with epoxy-type Tetra-DX cross-linking agent. The effect of cross-linking on adhesion characteristics was investigated. The side chain of acrylic copolymer played more important role in wettability than the interfacial interaction. As the degree of cross-linking increased, both probe tack and peel strength decreased. Also, heat resistance measured by SAFT increased with cross-linking; however, it showed the deterioration when excess cross-linking agent was added.
