  • The cultivated pearls collected for the study were pretreated through the removal of contaminants and the surface bleaching for easy dyeing. Coloring of pearls are necessary after selecting dyes adsorbable to the Conchiolin layer, a kind of hard protein formed in the seawater, covering the surface of the pretreated pearls. Dyes adsorbable to the Conchiolin layers are mostly basic dyes such as Rhodamine 6G(R6G), Rhodamine B(RB), Methylene Blue(MB) etc. and the binary and ternary competitive adsorption were performed by mixing two or three dyes together. The multi-dye adsorption data were compared with the predictions from the ideal adsorbed solution theory(IASI) combined with the single-dye adsorption model, the Langmuir or the Redlich-Peterson(RP) model. The quality of prediction was compared by using determination coefficient($R^2$) and standard deviation(SSE) values. Predictions from the IAST were found to be in good agreement with the data for the R6G/RB binary adsorption to the pearl layers not fractionated with their size, except for the adsorption data for RB at high concentrations. Among the three binary adsorption systems, R6G/RB, R6G/MB, and MB/RB, only the RB sorption data in the R6G/RB binary system was in poor agreement with the IAST prediction. Competitive adsorption data in ternay systems were in good agreement with the predictions from the IAST except for the RB data.

  • The V-world, Spatial information open platform map service, provides various national spatial data. Recently, with the development of IT technology, demand for 3D geospatial data that can be merged with new industries such as Internet of Things(IoT) and autonomous vehicles is increasing. Because 3D geospatial data is large and complex, many computer resources are used to provide map services. Most of the 3D map services, such as Vworld, are constructed binary data in consideration of performance. However, this type of data is incompatible because it is difficult to use in other services if there is no precise understanding of the specification. In this paper, we propose a data serialization method to improve the compatibility of new Vworld 3D format which is constructed in binary form. The performance of binary data and serialized binary data is tested and compared. As a result, it is expected that the data using the serialization technique will be similar to the binary data and contribute to improve compatibility.

  • This paper describes a high-speed CMOS demultiplexer using redundant multi-valued logic (RMVL). The proposed circuit receives serial binary data and is converted to parallel redundant multi-valued data using RMVL. The converted data are reconverted to parallel binary data. By the redundant multi-valued data conversion, the RMVL makes it possible to achieve higher operating speeds than that of a conventional binary logic. The implemented demultiplexer consists of eight integrators. Each integrator is composed of an accumulator, a window comparator, a decoder and a D flip flop. The demultiplexer is designed with TSMC $0.18{\mu}m$ standard CMOS process. The validity and effectiveness are verified through the HSPICE simulation. The demultiplexer is achieved the maximum data rate of 20 Gb/s and the average power consumption of 95.85 mW.

  • The results of using principal coordinates prior to cluster analysis are investigated on the samples from multiple binary outcomes. The retrieval ability of the known clustering algorithm is significantly improved by using principal coordinates instead of using the distance directly transformed from four association coefficients for multiple binary variables.

  • The low latency encoder for high data rate duo-binary turbo codes with tail biting trellises is considered. Encoder hardware architecture is proposed using inherent encoding property of duo-binary turbo codes. And we showed that half of execution time as well as the energy can be reduced with the proposed architecture.

  • To estimate the probability of long delay in a queuing system using discrete-event simulation is studied. We contrast the coverage, half-width, and stability of confidence intervals constructed using two methods: batch means and new resampling technique; binary bootstrap. The binary bootstrap is an extension of the conventional bootstrap that resamples runs rather than data values. Empirical comparisons using known results for the M/M/1 and D/M/10 queues show the binary bootstrap superior to batch means for this problem.

  • Data storage related with writing and retrieving requires high storage capacity, fast transfer rate and less access time in. Today any data storage system can not satisfy these conditions, but holographic data storage system can perform faster data transfer rate because it is a page oriented memory system using volume hologram in writing and retrieving data. System architecture without mechanical actuating part is possible, so fast data transfer rate and high storage capacity about $1Tb/cm^3$ can be realized. In this paper, to correct errors of binary data stored in holographic digital data storage system, find cluster centers using subtractive clustering and reduce intensities of pixels around centers, so the intensify profile of data rare will be uniform and the better data storage system can be realized.

  • We present a new scheme for optical encryption of a binary image. In our method, the original binary data page is first divided into two identical pages. In each data page, the “on” and “off” pixels are represented by two discrete phases that are 90° apart. The first page corresponds to the phase conjugation of the second page, and vice versa. In addition, the wavefront of the two data pages is changed simultaneously from planar to spherical, for better encryption. The wavefront modification is represented by an extra phase shift, which is a function of position on the wavefront. In this way the two separate pages are both encrypted, and therefore the pages cannot be distinguished in a CCD. If the first page is used as an encrypted data page, then the second page is used as the decryption key, and vice versa. The decryption can be done by simply combining the two encrypted data pages. It is shown in our experiment that encryption and decryption can be fully accomplished in the optical domain.
