  • The objective of this paper is to design a force feedback controller for bilateral control of a master-slave manipulator system using fuzzy sliding mode control. In a bilateral control system the motion of the master device is followed by slave the one. While the force applied to the slave is reflected on the master. In this paper, a proposed controller applied to the system. Adding a switching control term to the input, robustness is improved. Also the knowledge of the system dynamics is not needed. The computer simulation results show the performance of the proposed fuzzy sliding mode controller.

  • Traumatic bilateral abducens nerve palsy is rare and is associated with intracranial, skull and cervical spine injuries. We report a case of bilateral abducens nerve palsy in a 40-month-old patient with a skull base fracture. The injury mechanism was associated with direct nerve injury caused by a right petrous bone fracture and indirect injury by frontal impact on the abducens nerve at the point of fixation to the petrous portion and Dorello's canal. The emergency physician should be aware of injuries and the mechanism of abducens nerve palsy in head trauma.

  • The recurrent intracerebral hemorrhage[ICH] in hypertensive patients is not an unusual event, but the simultaneous occurrence of multiple ICH is rare. A 70-year-old woman presented with bilateral simultaneous hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhages in both thalami. The complaints of the patient were unconsciousness [semicomatose mental state] and quadriparesis Grade II. The patient was managed conservatively. At discharge, the patient was awake [drowsy mental state], but Grade III according to the Glasgow Outcome Score. This paper reviews the clinical relevance, possible etiology, and treatment of bilateral thalamic ICH.

  • A castrated, 6-year-old, male Turkish Angora cat with a history of respiratory distress was referred to the hospital. Physical examination revealed a cardiac murmur, and thoracic radiographic findings revealed pleural effusion and cardiomegaly. Echocardiography showed abnormality of the tricuspid and mitral valve, and color-flow Doppler imaging revealed regurgitation between both atrium and ventricle. Based on the echocardiographic examination, tricuspid valve dysplasia concurrent with mitral valve dysplasia was diagnosed. However, the patient died a week after treatment. In necropsy, bilateral atrioventricular valve dysplasia and left ventricular hypertrophy were confirmed. This is the first report to describe a middle age Turkish angora cat having bilateral atrioventricular valve dysplasia which has high mortality and only been reported rarely in cats. This case report also describes its clinical signs, diagnostic imaging findings, treatment and discussions how the patient could live long.

  • Post-thyroidectomy syndrome refers to various voice changes experienced after the thyroid surgery. Among them, surgery or injection therapy has been prioritized over voice therapy for the bilateral vocal cord paralysis. However, if it is possible to determine whether voice therapy can be applied first, a faster treatment recovery will be possible. In this study, voice therapy was performed on a 59-year-old female patient with bilateral vocal cord paralysis after total thyroidectomy. This study is to presents the criteria for applying the voice therapy first for bilateral vocal folds paralysis and to share successful voice therapy sessions.

  • Pure anterior bilateral shoulder dislocations are rare clinical features, especially in traumatic forms. They are most often posterior, occurring during an epileptic seizure. Few cases are described in the literature, and the mechanism varies from case to case. We report a specific case of pure bilateral anterior shoulder dislocation in a 29-year-old judo player following an accident during his training and discuss the circumstances, mechanism, treatment, and prognosis.

  • Epiphyseal dislocations and fractures frequently occur in children and adolescents. However, these injuries seldom involve the distal femur, and bilateral cases are even rarer. We present an unusual case of bilateral epiphyseal detachment of the femur in a 21-year-old man who was involved in a traffic accident. Open reduction and fixation surgery were performed 5 days after the incident. The patient experienced favorable progress, with consolidation occurring at 3 months. No lower limb length discrepancies were observed at the 20-month follow-up. In summary, bilateral distal femoral epiphyseal detachment is an uncommon condition that can be effectively treated through surgical intervention.

  • In this study, we developed motor representation brain mechanism system using fMRI and pilot study is performed, fMRI task were composed two tasks, which provided visual feedback and hid visual feedback. Left superior orbital gyrus, bilateral precentral gyrus, left superior occipital gyrus, left supplementary motor area, right thalamus, right postcentral gyrus and right superior parietal lobule activated with visual feedback. Left precuneus, right middle temporal gyrus, bilateral supplementary motor area, right anterior cingulate cortex, left Inferior temporal gyrus, left insula lobe, right superior parietal lobule, bilateral postcentral gyrus and left precentral gyrus activated without visual feedback. We could found brain mechanism of motor representation using without visual feedback.

  • The Japanese and U.S. governments has signed a Bilateral Aviation Safety Agrement and associated implementation procedures for airworthiness on April 27, 2009 to mutually accept the airworthiness approvals for aircraft and parts that the other country issue. This bilateral agreements do not relieve the Civil Aviation Authority(CAA) of its statutory responsibilities for certification. However, they provide an alternative means for the CAA to make its findings, recognizing the competency of another authority to conduct certification functions in a manner comparable to, and on behalf of, the CAA. In this way, the bilateral agreements contribute to ensuring aviation safety as well as reducing the burden imposed on the aviation industries without compromising safety. This paper is to discuss recent status of Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement and associated Japanese Aircraft Certification System.
