  • This study aims at investigating the characteristics of trends of future education over time though the literature review and examining the accuracy of the framework for forecasting future education proposed by the previous studies by comparing the outcomes between the literature review and media articles. Thus, this study collects the articles dealing with future education searched from the Web of Science and categorized them into four periods during the new millennium. The new articles from media were selected to find out the present of education so that we can figure out the appropriateness of the proposed framework to predict the future of education. Research findings reveal that gradual tendencies of topics could not be found except teacher education and they are diverse from characteristics of agents (students and teachers) to the curriculum and pedagogical strategies. On the other hand, the results of analysis on the media articles focuses more on the projects launched by the government and the immediate responses to the COVID-19, as well as educational technologies related to big data and artificial intelligence. It is surprising that only a few key words are occupied in the latest articles from the literature review and many of them have not been discussed before. This indicates that the predictive framework is not effective to establish the long-term plan for education due to the uncertainty of educational environment, and thus this study will give some implications for developing the model to forecast the future of education.

  • Purpose: This study is a quantitative study and analyzes the effect of evaluating the extreme and usefulness of product reviews on sales performance by using text mining techniques based on product review big data. We investigate whether the perceived helpfulness of product reviews serves as a mediating factor in the impact of product review extremity on sales performance. Research design, data and methodology: The analysis emphasizes customer interaction factors associated with both product review helpfulness and sales performance. Out of the 8.26 million Amazon product reviews in the book category collected by He & McAuley (2016), text mining using natural language processing methodology was performed on 300,000 product reviews, and the hypothesis was verified through hierarchical regression analysis. Results: The extremity of product reviews exhibited a negative impact on the evaluation of helpfulness. And the helpfulness played a mediating role between the extremity of product reviews and sales performance. Conclusion: Increased inclusion of extreme content in the product review's text correlates with a diminished evaluation of helpfulness. The evaluation of helpfulness exerts a negative mediating effect on sales performance. This study offers empirical insights for digital market distributors and sellers, contributing to the research field related to product reviews based on review ratings.

  • Background: This study aimed to analyze the impact of community health care resources on the place of death of older adults with dementia compared to those with cancer in South Korea, using public administrative big data. Methods: Based on a literature review, we selected person- and community-level variables that can affect older people's decisions about where to die. Data on place-of-death and person-level attributes were obtained from the 2013 death certification micro data from Statistics Korea. Data on the population and economic and health care resources in the community where the older deceased resided were obtained from various open public administrative big data including databases on the local tax and resident population statistics, health care resources and infrastructure statistics, and long-term care (LTC) insurance statistics. Community-level data were linked to the death certificate micro data through the town (si-gun-gu) code of the residence of the deceased. Multi-level logistic regression models were used to simultaneously estimate the impacts of community as well as individual-level factors on the place of death. Results: In both the dementia (76.1%) and cancer (87.1%) decedent groups, most older people died in the hospital. Among the older deceased with dementia, hospital death was less likely to occur when the older person resided in a community with a higher supply of LTC facility beds, but hospital death was more likely to occur in communities with a higher supply of LTC hospital beds. Similarly, among the cancer group, the likelihood of a hospital death was significantly lower in communities with a higher supply of LTC facility beds, but was higher in communities with a higher supply of acute care hospital beds. As for individual-level factors, being female and having no spouse were associated with the likelihood of hospital death among older people with dementia. Conclusion: More than three in four older people with dementia die in the hospital, while home is reported to be the place of death preferred by Koreans. To decrease this gap, an increase in the supply of end-of-life (EOL) care at home and in community-based service settings is necessary. EOL care should also be incorporated as an essential part of LTC. Changes in the perception of EOL care by older people and their families are also critical in their decisions about the place of death, and should be supported by public education and other related non-medical, social approaches.

  • This paper delves into the symbiotic integration of coding and mathematics education, aimed at cultivating computational thinking and enriching mathematical problem-solving proficiencies. We have identified a corpus of scholarly articles (n=38) disseminated within the preceding two decades, subsequently culling a portion thereof, ultimately engendering a contemplative analysis of the extant remnants. In a swiftly evolving society driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the ascendancy of Artificial Intelligence (AI), understanding the synergy between these domains has become paramount. Mathematics education stands at the crossroads of this transformation, witnessing a profound influence of AI. This paper explores the evolving landscape of mathematical cognition propelled by AI, accentuating how AI empowers advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities, particularly in the realm of big data-driven scenarios. Given this shifting paradigm, it becomes imperative to investigate and assess AI's impact on mathematics education, a pivotal endeavor in forging an education system aligned with the future. The symbiosis of AI and human cognition doesn't merely amplify AI-centric thinking but also fosters personalized cognitive processes by facilitating interaction with AI and encouraging critical contemplation of AI's algorithmic underpinnings. This necessitates a broader conception of educational tools, encompassing AI as a catalyst for mathematical cognition, transcending conventional linguistic and symbolic instruments.
