Effect of after annealing on critical current of Bi-2212 HTS round wires (후열처리 조건에 따른 Bi-2212 고온 초전도선의 임계전류 특성 변화)

  • The important merit of Bi-2212/Ag wire is to apply cable as round wire state. Bi-2212 high Tc superconducting wires were fabricated in order to apply Rutherford cable near the future. Various Ag ratio from 0.22 to 0.42 of Ag tubes for PID (powder-In-Tube) process were used to investigate the workability and to prevent breakage of filaments during drawing. In order to find proper heat treatment condition, we investigated micro-structure of Bi-2212/Ag wires by using differential thermal analysis, XRD and SEM. The effect of atmosphere on the peritectic decomposition temperature of precursor was investigated. The shape of grain was observed by SEM to investigate Bi-2212 phase formation in filaments. The higher of Ag ratio of mono filament had the higher critical current density, Jc. The wire with 0.42 of Ag ratio showed 7,886 A/cm2 of Jc at 77K.

  • The characteristics of Bi2212 round wire was systematically studied depending on different heat treatment conditions. Initial wire was drawn after routine PIT (Powder In Tube) process. The wire was divided into 3 pieces with 10 cm in length and 2.5 mm in diameter. 3 wires were pre-heat treated separately by different heat treatment schedules, heated in air and nitrogen atmosphere and centrifugally melted. Pre-heated wires were annealed at $845^{\circ}C$ for 40 hours in oxygen atmosphere. SEM results indicate that all pre-heated wires showed highly oriented microstructure. However the wire by centrifugally melted process showed higher density and better electric properties as compared with 2 other wires pre-heated in air and nitrogen atmosphere. The critical current of a centrifugally melted wire was about 18 A in 77 K.

  • We have investigated the effect of different heat treatment processes on electrical and magnetic properties of Bi2212/Ag ROSAT wire. The ROSAT wire was fabricated by stacking and arranging 12 filaments Bi2212/Ag tapes in triple rotation symmetry in a Ag tube. ROSAT wires have been prepared using a partial melting method with changing $T_{max}$ and $T_a$ in oxygen atmosphere. The highest critical current density($J_c$) at 65 K under 0 T was $21,158\;A/cm^2$ for wire prepared $890\;^{\circ}C(T_{max})$ and $840\;^{\circ}C(T_a)$, respectively. SEM results indicated that the wire prepared at $890\;^{\circ}C(T_{max})$ and $840\;^{\circ}C(T_a)$ showed better directional phases than the other samples. However the result of magnetic susceptibility measurement indicates that the wire prepared $890\;^{\circ}C(T_{max})$ and $835\;^{\circ}C(T_a)$ had better superconducting phases than the other samples. It was revealed that heat treatment temperature was important factor for superconducting properties of the ROSAT wire.

  • The important merit of Bi-2212/Ag wire is to apply cable as round wire state. Bi-2212 high Tc superconducting wires were fabricated in order to apply Rutherford cable near the future. Various Ag ratio from 0.22 to 0.42 of Ag tubes for PID (powder-In-Tube) process were used to investigate the workability and to prevent breakage of filaments during drawing. KERI and Nexans Korea manufactured Rutherford cabling machine by ourselves. Rutherford cables with 20 - 30 strands could be fabricated by this machine. The shape of Rutherford cables were satisfied. The critical current of Bi2212/Ag round wire with 847 filaments showed 400 A at 4.2K and self field.

  • A lot of efforts have been focused on the optimization of PIT parameters for Bi-2223/Ag wire. In this paper, initial annealing of Bi-2223/Ag wire to transform Bi-2212 orthorhombic from Bi-2212 tetragonal Precursor was investigated. This initial annealing step at low oxygen partial pressure were to transform Bi-2212 orthorhombic structure and to reduce the formation of second phases at superconducting wire. However Bi-2223 Phases were appeared at higher annealing temperature. Critical currents(Je) of Bi-2223/Ag tapes were sintered at low oxygen Partial pressure were higher than that of the wires sintered at atmosphere condition. In order to investigate the effect of rolling reduction ratio, Bi-2223/Ag HTS tapes were rolled with different reduction ratio. There were no clear difference of Je and filaments shape with various rolling reduction ratio.

  • Round shape Bi2212/Ag is isotropic and can be fabricated Rutherford cable to transport high current. Bi2212/Ag round wires with various Ag ratio were fabricated using powder-in-tube process. Double stacked 385 (55\times$7) filamentary wire of various wire diameter was heat-treated at various melting temperature. Wires which have Ag ratio of 0.3 and 0.42 of Ag tube for monofilament show similar critical current density. As average filament diameter decreases from 33 to 16 \mu$m, critical current density of wires increase, and in case of 16 ${\mu}m$ and $T_m$ 890$^{\circ}C$, critical current density was 2,062 $A/mm^2$ at 4.2 K, 0 T.

  • We have fabricated double stacked 385 filamentary Bi2212/Ag round wires which have different Ag ratios. The wires have been heat-treated at the maximum temperature($T_{max}$) of $882{\sim}896^{\circ}C$ for 0.5 h. Effect of heat treatment on critical current density and critical temperature on Bi2212/Ag round wires has been studied. Critical current density of the wire heat -treated at $890^{\circ}C$ showed 206,250 $A/cm^2$ at 4.2 K, 0 T and critical temperature of the wire was 83 K. Microstructure of the wires also has been studied via optical microscopy and SEM.

  • Bi-2212/Ag ROSAT용 와이어의 제작은 PIT법으로 제작된 단일 필라멘트가 사용되었다. 제작된 필라멘트를 압연하여 너비 8.6mm, 두께 2.15mm의 압연 테입을 제조한 후 4개씩 적층하여 3 부분의 마름모로 만들어 다시 내경 17.2mm의 Ag튜브에 적층하여 ROSAT 와이어를 약 150 mm로 제작하였다. 제작된 ROSAT 와이어는 산소분위기에서 약 60시간 동안 열처리 되었다. 이때 열처리 온도와 최고점에서의 유지시간에 따른 Bi-2212/Ag ROSAT 와이어의 전기적 특성을 평가 하였다. 기존의 Bi-2212/Ag 와이어에 비해 압연, 적층, 인발하여 제작된 동일한 크기의 ROSAT 와이어가 향상된 전기적 특성을 나타내었다.

  • 대용량의 초전도 전력기기에 사용되는 도체는 일반적으로 대전류를 통전할 수 있는 도체를 필요로 한다. 특히 SMES와 같이 펄스적으로 운전하는 코일에서 도체의 전류 용량을 증가시키면서 동시에 교류손실을 줄이는 방법으로 도체를 제조하기 위해서는 여러 가닥의 소선을 꼬아서 만드는 러더포드 케이블로 제조할 필요가 있으며 이를 위해서는 소선이 원형 상태를 유지하고 있어야 한다. Bi-2212 고온초전도선은 유일하게 원형 상태에서의 응용이 가능하므로 이 선의 개발 및 케이블 공정 개발은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 Bi-2212 고온초전도 소선을 사용하여 Rutherford 케이링을 할 수 있는 장치를 개발하였으며, 이 장치를 이용하여 복합 다심의 Bi-2212 초전도 소선을 8본, 20본 그리고 30본의 Bi-2212 러더포드 케이블을 110 m 길이까지 가공하였다. 제조한 러더포드 케이블 시료를 열처리에서의 부분용융 온도를 변화시키는 것으로 열처리 조건을 연구하였고, 77K, 64K 그리고 4.2K에서 임계전류 특성을 조사하였다. 또한 초전도 소선의 미세 조직을 관찰을 통하여 초전도 특성을 향상시키고자 하였다. 그래서 30본의 Bi-2212 러더포드 케이블에서 4.2K 온도로 환산하였을 때 5000 A를 초과하는 특성을 얻을 수 있었다.
