An Improved Soft Switching Bi-directional PSPWM FB DC/DC Converter

  • A new soft switching isolated bi-directional phase shifted pulse width modulation (PSPWM) dc/dc converter is presented. Due to the use of the energy recovery snubber, the isolated bi-directional PSPWM dc/dc converter has a significant reduction of switching losses in the switching devices of the primary and secondary side bridge, respectively. The proposed soft switching bi-directional PSPWM FB dc/dc converter provides an energy recovery snubber which consists of two fast recovery diodes, a resonant capacitor and a resonant inductor. The complete operating principles and simulation results will be presented.

양방향 고유압 말뚝재하시험을 이용한 대형건축물 기초의 공사비 절감에 관한 사례 연구 (A Case Study on Construction Cost Reduction of Large-size Building Foundation using Bi-directional High Pressure Pile Load Test(BDHPLT))

  • The bi-directional high pressure pile load test(BDH PLT) which is a kind of pile load tests was conducted to find out a reasonable design procedure of large-diameter drilled shafts of large-size building structures. The behaviors of bearing capacity and settlement of the large-diameter drilled shafts were analyzed and the results obtained from BDH PLT were also compared with those obtained from the equations suggested in the specification. In case of the reasonable design procedure adopted, the construction cost could be saved at least 15 ~ 28%. It could be concluded that BDH PLT should be needed for the foundation construction cost reduction of the high-rise building structures.

Transient Current Suppression Scheme for Bi-Directional DC/DC Converters in 42V Automotive Power Systems

  • 42V electrical power systems are on their way to replacing the present l4V systems in automobiles and 42V/14V dual voltage systems have been proposed to provide backward compatibility with the existing components for the 14V systems. A synchronous buck/boost converter is an attractive topology for 42V/14V dual voltage systems since it offers the possibility of bi-directional operation without additional components. In this paper, transient currents generated during converter startup or changes in operation modes between buck and boost are analyzed and a cost effective solution to remove the transient currents is proposed. The validity of the proposed control strategy is investigated through simulation and experiment with bi-directional converters.

Multi-Finger 3D Landmark Detection using Bi-Directional Hierarchical Regression

  • Purpose In this paper we proposed bi-directional hierarchical regression for accurate human finger landmark detection with only using depth information.Materials and Methods Our algorithm consisted of two different step, initialization and landmark estimation. To detect initial landmark, we used difference of random pixel pair as the feature descriptor. After initialization, 16 landmarks were estimated using cascaded regression methods. To improve accuracy and stability, we proposed bi-directional hierarchical structure.Results In our experiments, the ICVL database were used for evaluation. According to our experimental results, accuracy and stability increased when applying bi-directional hierarchical regression more than typical method on the test set. Especially, errors of each finger tips of hierarchical case significantly decreased more than other methods.Conclusion Our results proved that our proposed method improved accuracy and stability and also could be applied to a large range of applications such as augmented reality and simulation surgery.

양 방향 이동 회전창고시스템에서 실현 가능한 시스템을 위한 인출 배치크기 (The Retrieval Batch Size for Feasible System in a Bi-directional Carousel System)

  • This paper deals with the picking batch size which a bi-directional carousel system can be feasible. The items that customers order are retrieved from the bins of carousel with batch size. The mathematical equations representing rotary travel distance and retrieval lead time to pick a given batch size are derived. Rotary travel distance represents the distance which carousel system rotates to retrieve items in a batch. The bi-directional carousel system rotates to minimize the travel distance in retrieving the items in a batch. Rotary travel distance and retrieval lead time are analyzed for the batch size through the simulation approach. From the simulation, the retrieval batch size that carousel system can be feasible is obtained. A numerical example is shown to explain the solution procedure.

  • Optical signals from an object may vary at different conditions caused by differences in light source and sensor position. Knowledge of these variations is necessary to enable calibration of the satellite images and confirmation of the sun and sensor angles influences of the spectral signals from the objects. With the use high -resolution Ikonos$^{TM}$ multi-angular images, the bi- directional reflectance effects of mangrove trees were observed when three datasets were compared. The influence of bi- directional reflectance may affect the accuracy of interpreting satellite imagery and obtaining biophysical parameters mangrove and other vegetation by indirect means.

마일드 하이브리드 전기 차량용 2.5kW급 8상 양방향 컨버터에 관한 연구 (Research on a 2.5kW 8-Phase Bi-directional Converter for Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicles)

  • This paper is a study on the bi-directional DC-DC converter, one of the key elements of 48V-12V dual systems in mild hybrid electric vehicles. Mild hybrid electric vehicles require a bi-directional DC-DC converter that can efficiently transmit power in two directions between a 48V battery and a 12V battery. To develop a bi-directional DC-DC converter with better price competitiveness, upgraded fuel economy, excellent performance and smaller size, this study designed, produced and presented a circuit that improved on the existing one. In the proposed 8-phase bi-directional DC-DC converter, the size of the passive element was reduced through the 8-phase interleaved topology, whereas downscaling had previously posed a difficulty. This study also designed and produced a 2.5kW class prototype. Based on the proposed 8-phase interleaved topology, a size of 227.5 (W) * 172 (L) * 64.35 (H) was achieved. In the boost mode operation and buck operation modes, the maximum efficiency was recorded at 94.04 % and 95.78 %, respectively.

대면통행 터널의 환기특성에 관한 연구 - 자연환기량을 중심으로 (A Study on ventilation characteristics in bidirectional traffic tunnels - with emphasis on the natural ventilation)

  • 양방향(대면통행) 터널에 대한 자연환기에 대한 결정기준 및 제트팬 용량 검토기준이 명확하게 정립되지 못한 이유로 1km미만의 터널에 대한 기계환기 여부 및 용량산정에 있어 혼선이 나타나고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 자연환기량의 특성을 살펴보고, 최근 진행중인 대면통행 터널의 환기설계 기법을 크게 2가지로 분류하여 분석하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 양방향 터널에서의 합리적인 환기용량 산출과 자연환기량에 기초한 자연풍속($Vr^*$)과 소요풍속(Vreq)과의 관계 검토를 통해 자연환기 방식의 적용 가능성에 대한 연구를 수행하였으며, 향후 양방향 터널의 환기기준 수립에 대한 기초자료 제공을 목적으로 하고 있다.

JM KTA 소프트웨어에서 인트라 및 인터 예측블록이 혼합된 코딩 방법 (Adaptive Combination of Intra/Inter Predictions in JM KTA Software)

  • 본 논문에서는 KTA 소프트웨어의 부호화 효율을 향상시키기 위하여 인트라 예측과 인터 예측을 적응적으로 혼합하여 사용하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 확장된 매크로 블록 내에서 인터 예측 블록들을 먼저 부호화 및 복호화한 후 그 복원값들을 인트라 예측 부호화 과정에서 이용한다. 기존의 인트라 예측 방법에서는 현재 블록의 우측과 하단에 위치한 화소들을 이용하지 못하였으나, 제안 알고리즘에서는 현재 부호화하려는 블록의 상단과 좌측뿐만 아니라 우측 또는 하단의 복호화가 완료된 화소를 이용하여 양방향 인트라 예측을 수행한다. 이를 위해서 양방향 예측 필터를 디자인하였고, 확장 매크로블록 내의 매크로블록들의 적응적인 코딩 순서 정보를 전달하기 위해서 신택스 구조를 수정하였다. 컴퓨터 실험 결과를 통하여 제안하는 방법이 기존 기술에 비해 압축효율을 향상시키는 것을 알 수 있었다.

연료전지·이차전지 하이브리드 시스템을 위한 인터리빙 양방향 DC-DC 컨버터 설계 (The Design of Interleaved Bi-directional DC-DC Converter for Fuel Cell and Battery Hybrid System)

  • Fuel cell power system is one of the most promising energy source for the alternative energy because it has unique advantages such as high energy density, no power drop during operation, and feasible to make compact size. However, due to very low response time, fuel cell is difficult to correspond to drastic load changes and start-up operation. For solving these problem, fuel cell power system must include energy storage device such as Li-Poly battery or super capacitor. Therefore, bi-directional DC-DC converter must be required for this storage device and fuel cell-PCS control. This paper presents a design and modeling of the bi-directional DC/DC converter. Firstly, we present modeling the boost and buck mode of the bi-directional converter through both PWM switch model and state space averaging technique. Secondly, in order to minimize output ripple and transient response overshoot, we have two identical DC-DC converters interleaved and adopt two-loop voltage-current controller. The proposed bi-directional DC-DC converter's modeling method and control design have been verified with computer simulation and experimentation.
