Damage Assessment of RC Column-Bent Pier under Bidirection Loading (이축 하중을 받는 이주형 철근콘크리트 교각의 손상도평가)

  • Reinforced concrete(RC) column-bent piers represent one of the popular piers used in highway bridges of Korea. Seismic performance of RC column-bent piers under bi-directional seismic loadings was experimentally investigated. Six column bent piers were constructed with two circular supporting columns which were made in 400 mm diameter and 2,000 mm height. Test parameters are different transverse reinforcement ratio and loading pattern. Three specimens were loaded with bi-directional lateral forces which were main cyclic loads in the longitudinal direction and sub-cyclic loads in the transverse direction. Other three specimens were loaded in the opposite way. Test results indicated that lateral strength and ductility of the latter specimens were bigger than those of the former specimens. Plastic hinge was formed with the spall of cover concrete and the fracture of the longitudinal reinforcing steels in the bottom part of two supporting columns for the former three specimens. Similar behavior was observed in the top and bottom parts of two supporting columns for the latter three specimens.

  • The Bi-directional Wireless Capsule endoscope con sists of CMOS Image sensor, FPGA, LED, Battery, DC to DC Converter, Transmitter, Receiver and Antennas. The RF transmitter at 1.2GHz range is designed and fabricated with 10 mm(diameter)x1.6 mm(thickness) dimension considering the maximum permission exposure(MPE), system size, power consumption, linearity and modulation method. The fabricated RF receiver at 400MHz range can demodulate the external signals so as to control the behavior of CMOS image sensor. four LEDs and Transmitter.

Evolutionary topology optimization of geometrically and materially nonlinear structures under prescribed design load

  • This paper presents topology optimization of geometrically and materially nonlinear structures using a bi-directional evolutionary optimization (BESO) method. To maximum the stiffness of nonlinear structures under prescribed design load, the complementary work is selected as the objective function of the optimization. An optimal design can be obtained by gradually removing inefficient material and adding efficient ones. The proposed method can be applied to a series of geometrically and/or materially nonlinear structures. The results show considerable differences in topologies and stiffness of the optimal designs for linear and nonlinear structures. It is found that the optimal designs for nonlinear structures are much stiffer than those for linear structures when large design loads (which result in significantly nonlinear deformations) are applied.

  • This paper proposes a new soft switching technique for a phase-shift controlled bi-directional DC-DC converter. The described converter employs a low profile high frequency transformer and two active full-bridge converters for bidirectional power flow capability. A new soft switching technique is proposed, which guarantees soft switching over wide range (no load to full load) without any additional circuit components. In the proposed switching scheme, the switch pairs in the diagonal position of the converter each are turned on/off simultaneously by the switching signals with a variable duty ratio depending on the phase shift amount, and the converter is operated without freewheeling interval.

  • B frame bi-directional predictions and the DIRECT mode coding of the H.264 video compression standard necessitate a complex mode decision process, resulting in a long computation time. To make H.264 feasible, this paper proposes an image backtrack-based fast (IBFD) algorithm and evaluates the performances of two promising fast algorithms (i.e., AFDM and IBFD). Evaluation results show that an image backtrack-based fast (IBFD) algorithm can determine DIRECT mode macroblocks with 13% higher accuracy, as compared with the AFDM. Furthermore, IBFD is shown to reduce the motion estimation time of B frames by up to 23% with a negligible quality degradation.

  • This paper proposes a 3 kW single-phase bi-directional multi-level converter for energy storage applications. The proposed topology is based on the H-bridge structure with four switches connected to the DC-link. A simple phase opposition disposition PWM method that requires only one carrier signal is also suggested. The switching sequence to balance the capacitor voltage is considered. The topology can be extended to a nine-level converter or a three-phase system. The operating principle of the proposed converter is verified through a simulation and an experiment.

  • 802.11 기반의 DCF 모드 상에서 하나의 패킷 전송을 위해서는 RTS-CTS-DATA-ACK 의 4가지 단계의 프레임 전송 과정이 이루어져야한다. 다중 홉 상태에서의 패킷 전송 또한 위 4단계를 거쳐서 종단 간에 패킷 전송이 이루어진다. 다중 홉 상태의 패킷 전송 단계에서는 전송 도중 패킷간의 충돌이 발생 할 수 있다. 이와 같은 충돌을 최소화 시키고 종단 간 패킷전송의 성능을 향상시키기 위한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 연구 중에 하나인 DCMA(Data-driven Cut-through Medium Access) 프로토콜[1]의 기능을 파악하고 이에 대한 보완 방법을 제안하여 이를 발전시킨 BCTMA (Bi-directional Cut-Through Medium Access) 프로토콜을 제안 한다.

DeepAct: A Deep Neural Network Model for Activity Detection in Untrimmed Videos

  • We propose a novel deep neural network model for detecting human activities in untrimmed videos. The process of human activity detection in a video involves two steps: a step to extract features that are effective in recognizing human activities in a long untrimmed video, followed by a step to detect human activities from those extracted features. To extract the rich features from video segments that could express unique patterns for each activity, we employ two different convolutional neural network models, C3D and I-ResNet. For detecting human activities from the sequence of extracted feature vectors, we use BLSTM, a bi-directional recurrent neural network model. By conducting experiments with ActivityNet 200, a large-scale benchmark dataset, we show the high performance of the proposed DeepAct model.

  • This paper proposes current-fed bi-directional DC-DC converter using a resonance (CF-BCR) with wide output voltage range. The steady state analysis and operation principles of CF-BCR are introduced. To increase the output voltage range with satisfying soft switching condition, switching frequency, duty and number of times of the resonance are controlled. The proposed converter and its control method are verified by theoretical analysis and PSIM simulation.

  • An inverter system which consists of three bi-directional buck-boost converters, is proposed for motor driving. Three phase sinusoidal output voltages can be generated by utilizing three buck-boost converters. The advantage of this scheme is that it does not require a separate DC-DC converter for motor driving, i.e. inverter function is combined into the three DC-DC converters. This topology is suitable for inverters for hybrid or fuel cell vehicles where DC link voltage is subject to change depending upon charging status or output power. So the proposed system is capable of driving motor at high speed. The converter system is controlled by PI controller and simulation results done by MATLAB SIMULINK are provided.Ҙ?⨀ሉȀ̀㘰々K䍄乍?ጊ츀Ѐ㔹〻Ԁ䭃䑎䴀
