아크릴아미드의 PAN에 대한 표면 그라프트 공중합에 관한연구 (Surface Graft Copolymerization of Acrylamide onto Polyacrylonitrile)

  • To increase the moisture content and thereby to reduce the static charge of polyacrylonitrile (PAN), thin layer surface photografting of acylamide (AAm) onto PAN fabrics by using benzophenone as a initiator with a mixtured solvent was carried. The effects of reaction conditions such as monomer, initiator concentrations, UV irradiation time and immersion time of fabrics on grafting were investigated. The percent grafting slightly increased with increasing monomer concentration, benzophenone concentration up to limiting value and thereafter decreased or level offed. The percent grafting was significantly increased with increasing irradiation and immersion times. The moisture regain increased with increasing the percent grafting. The static charge decreased with increasing the percent grafting.

낙동강수계 주요 하·폐수처리장 방류수내 미량유해물질 모니터링 (Monitoring of Hazardous Chemicals for Effluents of STPs and WWTP in the Nakdong River Basin)

  • This study was investigated twenty two hazardous chemicals compounds for effluents of nine sewage treatment plants (STPs) and one waste water treatment plant (WWTP) in the Nakdong Ri-ver Basin. They are eleven phthalates(DMP, DEP, DIBP, DBP, BEEP, DNPP, DHP, DCP, DEHP, DNOP, Dinonyl phthalate, seven aliphatic hydrocarbons(n-Tridecane, n-Tetradecane, n-Pentadecan-e, n-Hexadecane, n-Heptadecane, n-Octadecane, n-Nonadecane, Isoquinoline, 2-Chloropyridine, 2-N-itrophenol, and Benzophenone. The twenty two compounds were analyzed by gas chromatograp-hy mass spectrometry (GC/MS) with liquid-liquid extraction (LLE). Twenteen of twenty two subs-tances were detected. They were DMP, DEP, DIBP, DBP, DEHP, n-Tetradecane, n-Pentadecane, n-Heptadecane, n-Octadecane, n-Nonadecane, Isoquinoline and Benzophenone. Among these, DEHP, DEP and Benzophenone were most frequently observed. They were obtained as $ND{\sim}36.881{\mu}g/L$, $ND{\sim}0.950{\mu}g/L$, $ND{\sim}2.019{\mu}g/L$, respectively. When the substances were calculated the average concentration at 10 points, the maximum average detection concentration was investigated at the Dalseocheon STP.

광개시제 첨가에 따른 고분자 분산형 액정 렌즈의 전기-광학 특성 변화 (Change of Electro-optical Properties of Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal Lens with Addition of Extra Photo-initiator)

  • 고분자 분산형 액정 렌즈는 40 wt%의 NOA65 prepolymer와 60 wt%의 E7 액정 균일 혼합물에 추가적으로 광개시제를 첨가하여 $11{\mu}m$$30{\mu}m$의 두께로 제작 되었다. 광개시제로 사용된 벤조페논은 상업적으로 판매되는 NOA65에 기본적으로 5.0 wt%의 함량으로 포함되어있다. 이 논문에서는 NOA65에 포함되어 있는 벤조페논의 농도가 스마트 전자 안경을 위한 고분자 분산형 액정 렌즈에 미치는 영향에 대해서 알아보았다. 광개시제는 NOA65와 E7 액정 혼합물 무게의 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 wt%씩 추가로 첨가되었다. 벤조페논이 첨가된 샘플이 가지는 구동 전압, 직선 구간의 기울기, 응답 시간, 명암비와 같은 전기-광학적 특성들은 벤조페논의 첨가 없이 NOA65 만을 사용해 만든 샘플에 비해 모두 개선되었다. 이러한 개선들은 벤조페논의 첨가로 인해 샘플 내부에 존재하는 액정 방울의 평균 직경 크기가 증가하는 것에 기인하였다. 액정 방울의 평균 직경 크기는 벤조페논을 0 wt%에서 8 wt%로 첨가함에 따라 $5.3{\mu}m$에서 $12.2{\mu}m$로 증가하였다. 광개시제의 농도 범위에 대해 구동 전압은 11.1 V에서 17.3 V의 범위를 보였고, 직선 구간에서의 기울기는 10.35 %T/V에서 13.96 %T/V의 범위를 보였다. 이 두 특성은 벤조페논의 첨가 없이 기본 NOA65로 만들어진 샘플에 비해 더욱 개선되었다. 벤조페논을 첨가하지 않고 샘플의 셀 간격을 $30{\mu}m$에서 $11{\mu}m$로 감소시킴에 따라 상승응답 시간은 0.47 ms에서 1.05 ms로, 하강 응답 시간은 18.64 ms에서 45.3 ms로 각각 증가하였고 명암비는 86.5에서 5.7로 크게 감소하였다. 두 특성 모두 셀 간격의 영향으로 저하되는 것을 확인하였으나 벤조페논의 첨가에 따라 상승 응답 시간은 0.77 ms, 하강 응답 시간은 41.04 ms로 각각 감소하였고 명암비는 16.7로 증가하여 다소 개선되는 것 또한 확인되었다.

Effect of Organic Photosensitizers on the Antimicrobial Property of Polyurethane coated Leather

  • Cow leather coated with polyurethane film that contains various organic photosensitizers was investigated to demonstrate the antimicrobial properties in the application of the material to protective clothing and home appliances. To prepare the antimicrobial coating on leather surfaces with high potency against microbes, photoactive agents, such as benzophenone (BP), 4,4'-bis(dimethylamino) benzophenone (MK), 4,4'-dihydroxybenzophenone (DHBP) and methylene blue (MB), were incorporated into polyurethane-based coating solutions. The photoactive antimicrobial agent treated leather samples were characterized by SEM, color appearance, color fastness against abrasion, and antimicrobial tests. The optical properties of organic photosensitizers indicated that active UV absorbance ranges were different: BP (around 250 nm), MK (around 360 nm), DHBP (around 305 nm) and MB (around 295 nm &570 nm-685 nm). The intensity of the UV absorbance curve at the UVA light wavelength for the antimicrobial test showed the highest value with MK; subsequently, this was followed by MB, DHBP and BP in decreasing order. The treated-leather samples demonstrated excellent antibacterial activity under UVA light. The antimicrobial effects for the Staphylococcus aureus were superior to Escherichia coli. Moreover, the polyurethane finishing showed an effective durability to abrasion. The overall results indicated that DHBP is the most suitable PU coating additive to provide antimicrobial properties to leather as well as color and surface appearance than MK, MB, and BP.

Removal of BP-3 Endocrine Disrupting Chemical (EDC) using cellulose acetate and ZnOnano particles mixed matrix membranes

  • The effect of ZnO on cellulose acetate in the removal of benzophenone-3 (BP-3) was investigated. The benzophenone-3 (BP-3) which is an endocrine disrupting chemical (EDC) was completely removed (100%) from the drinking water using Cellulose Acetate (CA) and zinc oxide (ZnO) composite membranes. The membranes were prepared by DIPS method and the filtration experiments were conducted by dead end filtration unit. The macrostructure of the membrane were studied by ATR-IR and XRD Spectra's. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to study the micro properties of the membranes. The laboratory experiments such as water uptake study and pure water flux performed to confirm the increasing hydrophilicity. The enhancing hydrophilicity was confirmed with respect to higher the concentration of nanoparticles. Evaluation of BP-3 removal was carried in different experimental conditions, such as, different Trans membrane pressure and different concentration of feed. The membrane with low pressure showed better performance by rejecting 100% of BP-3. However, 1 ppm, 3 ppm and 6 ppm of feed solution was used and among them 3 ppm of feed solution gives 100% rejection. The ZnO nanoparticales enhances the performance of CA membrane by showing maximum rejection.

Positive-Type Photosensitive Polyimide Based on a Photobase Generator Containing Oxime-Urethane Groups as a Photosensitive Compound

  • The chemical structure of a semi-aromatic polyimide-I, which was prepared by the chemical imidization of cyclopentanetetracarboxylic dianhydride and 2,2-bis(4-aminophenyl)hexafluoropropane, was characterized by $^{13}C-NMR$ spectroscopy. The chemically imidized polyimide-I was used for the preparation of a photosensitive polyimide (PSPI) through the addition of benzophenone and benzophenone oxime hexamethylene diurethane (BOHD), a photobase generator containing oxime-urethane groups. The polyimide-I film containing benzophenone and BOHD was not soluble in 2.38 wt% tetrabutylammonium hydroxide solution in $H_2O$. However, it became soluble following irradiation with 310 nm UV light. A positive tone image with a resolution of $5{\mu}m$ was obtained with this PSPI, having sensitivity($D_c$) of $1.2J/cm^2$ and contrast(${\gamma}_p$) of 1.08. Thus, a polyimide, which is not intrinsically photosensitive, can become photosensitive through the addition of a photobase generator containing oxime-urethane groups as a photosensitive compound.

Simultaneous Determination of 4-Nitrotoluene and Benzophenone in Ground Water and Soil by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy

  • Benzophenone (BZP) and 4-nitrotoluene (4-NT) listed as endocrine disrupting chemicals are suspected to contaminate ground water sites and soil. Analytical method for simultaneous determination of the two chemicals in soil and ground water was developed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Water (100 ml) was extracted with hexane, and soil (10 g) was extracted with methanol and hexane. Recovery in water was >72% for BZP and 90-118% for 4-NT. Recovery for 4-NT and BZP in soil was 51-59% with coefficient variation of less than 19.5%. Calibration curves showed a good linearity with $r^2=0.997$. In water and soil collected at nation-wide sites, BZP was found at 5 sites among 43 water sites at the concentration of $14.87{\pm}3.83ng/100 ml$. No 4-NT was found. It is suggested that this method is appropriate to the simultaneous quantitation of 4-NT and BZP in ground water and soil samples.

자외선 흡수제를 첨가한 고분자 중합 및 안 의료용 소재로의 적용 (UV Absorbent-added Polymerization and its Application as Ophthalmological Material)

  • 본 연구는 자외선 흡수제로 사용되는 benzophenone계(group) 및 높은 굴절률과 화학적, 물리적으로 매우 안정한 물질로 알려진 $TiO_2$를 기존의 재료에 첨가하여 자외선 차단 기능을 가진 고분자 재료를 중합하였다. 중합 결과 생성된 고분자의 자외선 흡수 정도를 기존의 재료들과 비교하였으며, 제조된 콘택트렌즈의 함수율, 굴절률 및 광투과율등의 기본적인 물성을 측정하였다. 측정 결과, 자외선 흡수제를 첨가한 콘택트렌즈의 굴절률과 함수율은 각각 1.430~1.440, 35.0~45.0의 값들로 나타나 기존의 콘택트렌즈와 비슷한 결과를 나타내었다. 또한 각 파장대별 광투과율에서는 자외선 흡수제를 넣지 않은 콘택트렌즈에서는 UV-A, UV-B, 가시광선 투과율이 각각 89%, 88%, 89%로 나타나 자외선 투과율이 매우 높았으나, 2-hydroxy-4-methoxy-benzophenone와 2,4-dihydroxy-benzophenone을 첨가한 콘택트렌즈의 경우, 각각 UV-A 0%, UV-B 6%의 투과율을 나타내어 자외선 차단 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 $TiO_2$를 첨가한 콘택트렌즈의 경우, 각각 UV-A 6%, UV-B 51%의 투과율을 나타내어 자외선 차단 효과가 다소 있는 것으로 나타났다. 가시광선 투과율은 모두 77~89%로 콘택트렌즈의 가시광선 투과율의 조건에 만족함을 알 수 있었다.
